I walked to lunch after four classes where me and twenty-four other students were grilled by teachers about what we remembered from the previous year.

I opened the door to the lunchroom, keeping my head meekly down whenever I pass a table full of kids.

To the rest of the student body, I didn't exist. I am invisible, a mere wallflower. No one cares about me, and I like to keep it that way. I am glad that I don't attract attention, or else I would have to deal with Josh and his cronies more often.

After grabbing a slice of pizza, icecream, and an apple, paying for my lunch, and thanking the lunch ladies with a smile, I was on my way. I go to my usual spot.

The table I sat at was a large twelve-seat one, able to fit even more if you pulled up extra chairs; but I was it's only occupant. It was, unfortunately, right beside the trashcans.

The smell was always horrible, making me want to barf. That's why I got such a simple lunch. Had to keep it down.

I finished my lunch quickly, and left about halfway through lunch. What's the point of staying if I'm not doing anything?

Wanting to wash my hands, I head to the bathroom. I knew that that was a big mistake once I opened the door and heard Alice Spade's high pitch voice.

A word about Alice before you meet her; She's basically the queen bee of my school. She's dating Bryce Martin, the captain of our very own soccer team and the most wanted boy in the school. I know, cliché. Our school is full of cliché.

"OMG!" Alice rants to her plastic 'friends'. "I can't believe that he dumped me! I mean, like, we were meant to be together! Only the best can date the best!"

Her follows only nod, a couple chiming in with, "Yeah, totally." Or "Like I so agree!"

I try to back away before they notice me, but my soaking wet sneakers squeak as I do so.

Curse that rain.

Alice's head snaps up, and she glares at me when she sees who it is.

"Can't you see that we're trying to have a private conversation, idiot? And to think that you're supposed to be a geek. Not so smart now, are we?"

Her friends snicker, but I brush the comment aside, mentally rolling my eyes. She thought that she was insulting me, but really, she wasn't. She needs to work on her insults.

"Um... I-I was just going. Sorry." I respond, my bravo from a moment ago long gone as I reply to Alice.

She suddenly gets a wicked look in her eyes.

"Hey, girls? Go wait for me by our table. I've got to have a conversation with dork over here."
