Short Version

Once Upon a Time, there lived a dragon, and his name was Midnight. He ate a steady diet of wild animals and, every now and then, the unlucky person who plundered around at night. One night a farmer heard about where Midnight lived and decided to check it out. A selfish Lord named George convinced the farmer to visit Midnight, even though it was dangerous. George wanted the land the farmer-owned and only tricked him to visit where Midnight lived in hopes that Midnight would eat the farmer. George's hopes soon came true, for as soon as the farmer took his first step into the cave he was roasted alive.

When George found out about this he was overjoyed. "Now I can have that farmer's land," he thought to himself. The next morning, he rode his horse to the farmer's land, only to find it burned to the ground. In anger, George screamed, "NO! How am I going to expand my land now?"

Very quickly George was able to answer his own question. There was a young lady who lived behind him, and she owned over two hundred acres of land. All he had to do was trick her, and tricking a young lady would be so much easier than the last farmer.

After waiting for the dust to settle Lord George went to her home with a conniving plan to get what he so desperately craved for. He showed up at her cottage with a gold bracelet in hand.

She smiled, saying, "This is very beautiful. What is it you would like me to do for you in return?"

"Would you mind going into the dragon's cave and bringing me one of his teeth?"

"I would be glad to. It's not like the dragon will eat me."

"That's what you think," he muttered quietly to himself.

The plan was all set in motion. The next morning Lord George went over to Sara's house ready to claim her land as his own, only to find that she wasn't dead. "Thank you so much, Sara. However, did you get it?" George looked down at the large pointed tooth in his hand.

"I just asked Midnight if I could have one of his old teeth in exchange for a deer I had brought. He thought that was fair, so we made the trade. He is a very nice dragon. I don't understand why people are so scared of him."

"Maybe it is because he eats people."

Later that same day George went to Midnight's cave and shouted, "Midnight, I would like to make a deal with you!"

"What kind of deal?"

"You eat Sara, the young lady who lives behind me, and I will give you the best tasting meat in the world."

"Deal."

Lord George went to see Sara, so he could have a front row seat to the show of Midnight eating her. When she let him in, George asked her, "How did you know that the dragon would make a deal with someone?"

"Come outside and all will be explained."

Once they are outside the unexpected happened, Sara transformed into a little silver dragon. Midnight was suddenly landing behind Sara and started speaking. "George, you have been a land thirsty person. I should have eaten you, but my granddaughter, Sara, has grown fond of you even if you did make a deal for me to eat her. You have a choice. Either be roasted alive by me or you can leave and never return."

"I choose to be eaten by Sara." George thought it was very clever since Sara was still so young she would never kill someone, let alone eat a person. Lord George couldn't have been more wrong. Seconds after finishing his sentence Sara ate him. Just like that, the world was rid of Lord George, and the dragons rode off into the distance never to be seen from again.
