All Started With That Puppy (Werewolf AU)
Looking back, Annabeth wouldn't change a thing. But the same couldn't be said when it all began...

Annabeth was always an outdoorsy kind of girl. She hated that she lived in the city. But currently she was too broke to move away from the city. This meant, that whenever she could, she would go for a walk during the forest that bordered Annabeth's part of the city.
She loved how the sun shone through the leaves, leaving patterns that decorated the trail. She loved how it smelled fresh and clean, although she could still just smell the pollution from the industrial area a few blocks away. She loved how it was quiet. But most of all, she loved how she was free.
This particular day when Annabeth was walking along the trail something felt off, like something had been misplaced and the whole forest was tense because of it.
But she kept walking. She put her earphones in and pressed play on her Spotify.
'Stand on the bar, stomp your feet, start clapping,
'Got a real good feeling something bad about to happen.'
Somethin' Bad by Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood began playing.
Annabeth began to sing along with the country singers.
'Pulled up to the church but I got so nervous,
'Had to back it on up, couldn’t make it to the service,
'Grabbed all the cash underneath my mattress,
'Got a real good feelin’ something bad about to happen.'
As Annabeth walked she say paw prints along the trail, tiny ones.
Annabeth knew that there was wolves in the forest, but these print belonged to something the size of a Jack Russell.
She knew she wasn't the only one to walk along this trail, but something egnited within Annabeth and she was entrigued. She bent down and looked at the tracks left behind by the animal. They were fresh. The tell-tale sign was the fact that where there had been grass that the animal had walked was still bent over.
Annabeth followed the tracks, they wound around the corner where they stopped. There, laying in the middle of the track was a wolf pup. The poor thing was skinny and breathing shallowly.
Not waiting for another second, Annabeth grabbed the pup and ran home.

It was lucky that Annabeth's neighbor -- Will Solace -- was studying to become a doctor. Whilst working on humans, he still knew more than Annabeth did and told her what to do. So she did it.
She kept the pup warm, she feed it milk from the baby bottle she had found in the cuboard (long story, don't ask) and when it looked half lively she cooked small pieces of beef before allowing them to cool and feed them to the pup.
After the pup was up, feed and warm, did Annabeth take in its true beauty. It was a silvery-white female, her eyes were bright blue. She -- the pup -- was reluctant to let Annabeth touch her, but eventually Annabeth got the better of her.
Annabeth fell asleep wit the small pup asleep on her lap.

Percy hated it. The searching, the being unable to find her, he hated it all.
He just wanted her back. As soon as he could.

The next day was Sunday. So Annabeth went for a walk. She took the pup with her -- her other neighbor, Nico, was told by Will that Annabeth had found a puppy and Nico happened to have a lead and collar.
They were walking along fine, until they got almost to where Annabeth had found Pup (as she called her), when the wolf puppy started pulling, wanting to race forwards.
Then they turned the corner, and standing there was a man, around Annabeth's age -- 23. He was about 6" with jet black hair and his back to them.
Pup yapped. The man whirled around. "Holy Hades!" He cried, his eyes widened as he say the puppy. "Venessa! Mum's been going ape that you're missing!" He made to grab the pup but Annabeth got there first.
"Can I help you?" She asked stifly. He looked at her, acknowledging her presence for the first time.
"Mate," He said.
"Ummm... what?"
His sea-green eyes widened. "I should explain."
Annabeth nodded. "Yeah, that'd be nice."
"I'm a werewolf."
Annabeth laughed. "Yeah, and I'm a multimillionaire."
"Don't be sarcastic. I'm being honest."
Something within Annabeth told her he was being honest. "So what? On the full moon you turn into a half-man-half-wolf creature and have no control over what you do?"
He scoffed. "Don't be ridiculous. That Harry Potter show has ruined everyone's knowledge on our kind."
"Hey! Don't dis Remus! And how do you know that its not Twilight ruining knowledge of your kind?"
"Our kind. And because I refuse to watch such eyeball-bleach like Twilight. As do you I suppose."
Annabeth rolled her eyes. "I'm more into books than movies."
He nodded. "Of course, of course. Anyway, we can shift into our wolves whenever we fell like it."
"So where did the sterotype of full moons come from?"
He placed his hands over the puppy's ears, "that's when pups are most likely to be made."
Her eyebrow furrowed. "What?"
"We get a wild side, the unmated feel like partying, the mated get horny. Really, horny."
Annabeth nodded her head just once, "that's gross."
He uncovered the pup's ears then took her off of Annabeth. "Mum's up the track," he pointed in the opposite direction to where Annabeth had just came from. "Go find her."
Venessa ran off.
"So, I'm guessing you haven't shifted yet." He said.
"What?"
"Shifted. Ya' know? Humans and wolves aren't ever mated, which means you, are a wolf."
Annabeth took that into consideration. "Hang on, who's my mate then?"
He pointed at himself. "Me. Can't you smell it?"
"Smell what?"
"Whatever attracts you."
"To be honest, what attracts me is forests like this."
He nodded. "You smell like cinnamon cookies."
Annabeth nodded. "Not bad."
He stuck out his hand. "I'm Percy."
"Annabeth."
"You know what tommorow is right?" She shook her head. "Its the full moon." She remembered his words from earlier. "So yeah, you'll feel pretty horny tomorrow night."
"Great."
Just what she needed.
