Chapter 12: The danger in starting a fire.
Isabella had been sleeping for about an hour before she suddenly awoke, sitting up in bed. She grabbed her chest as a burning sensation washed over her.
She opened her mouth to scream, but nothing came out, she had lost her voice. Her throat was raw and soar and it felt like she had been screaming, but she could not remember doing so.
She began to stand from the bed, but her legs became shaky, causing her to fall. She landed on the plush carpet with a thud. When she landed, something along the side of her torso ripped open, causing a terrifying amount of pain to shoot through her body. A vast amount of blood began to pour out of her freshly opened wound.
"S-seba-stian." She whispered as best as she could.
Suddenly, Sebastian appeared at her side, causing her to jump. "What are you doing out of bed Isabella, are you alright?" He asked worryingly, but then he looked down at the blood already seeping through the white nightgown she was changed into.
"Oh my." He whispered as he carefully picked her up. As he was walking, droplets of blood fell onto the floor in a splattered pattern. He could feel her temperature dropping drastically.
Isabella lay helplessly as Sebastian picked her up. She shook uncontrollably in his arms and it did not show signs of letting up or stopping anytime in the near future.
Sebastian sat her down gently on the bed, when all of a sudden she began to scream, this time noise actually coming out.
"What is it?" Sebastian asked frantically, thinking he had done something wrong.
Isabella pressed her head back into the pillow and began to claw at her abdomen. The sudden pain she was experiencing felt as if she were on fire.
"I-it h-ur-ts!" She said between screams. She kept scratching at her skin until blood began to pour out at an alarming rate.
Sebastian pulled her arms back and held them over her head in an attempt to hold her back, but it proved to be a difficult task, she was very strong.
"Alucard!" Sebastian shouted as loud as he could manage.
He turned his attention back to the girl under him. He positioned himself to where he had a knee on each side of her legs, pinning her down.
"Sebastian!" Isabella shouted. "Please!"
Sebastian felt a pain in his heart as he looked at her. He knew he would have to do something fast, or whatever was happening could potentially kill her.
Tears ran down Isabella's face as she shook her head in pain. It felt like someone was trying to claw their way out of her skin, crushing her ribs in the process.
She began to shake with tremors as she whined underneath him. Her breathing, rapid at first, was now labored and slow. Dark circles began to show from underneath her eyes as well.
"Dammit Alucard, hurry!" Sebastian shouted. Fearful that the girl in his hold was slipping away.
The door suddenly slammed open, revealing a breathless Alucard. "What is it, what is wrong?" He asked.
"I need you to come hold her down!" Sebastian shouted as he nodded his head in her direction.
Alucard nodded his head and ran to their side. Sebastian got off of her and Alucard took her place after removing his coat. Leaving him in a white button up shirt with a red tie.
"Forgive my actions." Sebastian said as he lifted up Isabella's nightgown and folded it, exposing her deep wound.
He held his hand in the air, summoning a small, black box. He sat the box down onto the bed and opened it, revealing a multitude of surgical equipment.
"Sebastian, you do not have any kind of anaesthesia, how are yo-"
"There is no time Alucard, I will have to operate without it." He said, cutting Alucard off.
Isabella's eyes widened as she listened to their conversation. She began to shake her head vigorously as fear set in.
"Can you give her some blood to soothe her a bit?" Sebastian asked.
Alucard nodded his head and bit down on his wrist. When blood began to seep out, he placed his wrist to her mouth. Isabella was hesitant at first, but finally began to drink his blood greedily, immediately relaxing her a bit.
"Here," Sebastian said handing Alucard a hand towel. "Use this to bite down on."
Alucard handed the towel to Isabella and watched as she held it to her mouth.
Sebastian pulled a sterilized scalpel and looked to Isabella. "Are you ready? This will hurt a great deal." He said.
Isabella nodded her head frantically and watched as Sebastian placed the scalpel on her abdomen.
"On the count of three." Sebastian said, earning a nod from Isabella and Alucard. "One, two,"
He suddenly dragged the blade across her chilled skin. Isabella's head shot up as a blood curdling scream erupted from her throat.
Alucard gently pushed her head back down into the pillow and placed the towel in her mouth, before he could let go, she aggressively bit down on his finger. Alucard quickly pulled his hand away and shook it in the air.
Sebastian cut deeper into her skin as gentle as he could and wiped away some of the blood that escaped. He sat down the scalpel and pulled a large syringe from the black box.
"What is that for?" Alucard asked as he raised a brow.
Sebastian put the syringe to his forearm. "I am going to give her some of my venom, it will act as an antibiotic and speed up the healing process." He stuck the needle in his arm and pulled back the plunger, releasing a thick, black liquid.
"Will her venom not do the same? She is a demon as well." Alucard said confused.
"My venom is far more powerful than hers is. Her venom will help, but mine will work more rapid." Sebastian explained.
He pulled it out of his arm and placed it inside of Isabella's abdomen. "This may sting a bit Isabella."
Isabella nodded her head fearfully and watched as Sebastian pressed down on the syringe, releasing his venom into her body. If she were human, this act would kill her immediately.
A burning sensation swept over her abdomen as he vision suddenly became blurry.
Sebastian noticed as she began to close her heavy eyes. "It is alright, do not fight it Isabella." He said quietly.
Her vision blurred even more as she closed her eyes, the last thing she saw was a pair of worried, ruby eyes.
