Iris Crawford is angry.

She's angry that her father pays more attention to her brother — someone who takes after the man far more than she ever could. She's angry that her boyfriend, after getting outed as a world famous superhero, has decided he can do better than her. She's angry that her best friend would go behind her back to date the boy she'd thought she would marry.

Anger is a dangerous emotion. She's learned that the hard way. Which is why she's determined not to fuck this one up. She's let Helena stay her best friend, if only to keep her head above water in the current of her high school's social standing. She's let her dad slander people with superpowers, if only as revenge on the boy who'd broken her heart. And she's very successfully ignoring her own budding abilities — except for when they serve her.

Iris Crawford is convincing.

Not enough to win Brayden, aka the Bravin' Raven back into loving her, but enough that she's found the next best thing. That dork from her film class, Wesley Moran.

Wesley Moran is screwed.

Even before the second most popular girl in school figured out his secret, he was screwed. Being a supervillain isn't as easy as it's cracked up to be, especially when all of his treacherous actions came out of sheer, dumb luck. He'd not intentionally stepped on that puppy's tail, or stolen those diamond earrings, or set a shoe store on fire. They'd all been less-than-happy accidents that snowballed into a frightening reputation he had no way to uphold. Being evil was hard, and soon enough, his incompetence was going to catch up to him.

Until Iris Crawford discovers this — he's the Phantom, rival to the Bravin' Raven, and most feared supervillain in New York City.

Wesley Moran is a really nice guy. That's the problem. He helps old ladies cross the street, volunteers at a homeless shelter on weekends, and always gives out homework help to anyone who needs it. Which is why Iris, the cruelest girl he's ever met, is the perfect person to help him unlock his inner villainy.

What she wants in return? Revenge on her ex and to piss off her dad.

If she can go around saying she's dating the Phantom, all while pretending Wesley doesn't exist, she'll ignite fury in both men she despises so deeply.

Two birds, one evil stone.

But dating isn't the only problem that plagues Iris and Wesley. Not when Wesley's father's underground supervillain company is having an uprising and Iris's father is rapidly growing support for his anti-superpower beliefs.

hi so this is an impulse publish to the absolute max. i have a basic idea of where i'm going with this story (it's a trilogy, actually...oops) but no solid outline yet. fuck it, we ball. i hate extended summaries, pretend that one made any sense and sounded good. i promise my actual writing will be better than that monstrosity.

this started with spiderman brainrot and spiraled. as you can see, i kept the tom holland casting because, while i think he plays an amazing spiderman, i'd love to also see him as a fumbling wannabe villain. 

this story shouldn't be taken too seriously tbh, it's meant to be a bit ridiculous and funny. but also knowing me i'll find a way to make it depressing at some point so i apologize in advance for that.

for triggers, iris suffers from an eating disorder which is discussed, though i try to keep it as vague as possible. i'll add trigger warnings to the top of every applicable chapter :) i don't have an update schedule for this and probably won't be posting too frequently as i have soooo many wips to work on as it is, but i have a lot of inspo for this, so i'm super excited!
