Chapter 19: Lunch With Phil

(Dan's POV)

We were quiet while we were walking, not saying anything. It was only when Phil said he knew where he wanted to go that noise was made from either of us.  He led us to a small  Japanese restaurant that I didn't even know we had.

"It accord to me that I never asked if you had an allergy to any food," he said, stopping in front of the restaurant.

"Not from what I know of, I'm not," I answered, taking a step towards the door, "I didn't even know this was here."

"Have you never had sushi?" he asked.

"Not in a long time," I held the door open for him, he smiled and walked in.

We were sat in the back, a table for two. Of course, Phil knew exactly what he wanted to eat while I pondered at the menu for a while. Our conversation turned into Phil trying to teach me how to use chopsticks, using napkins as our 'food' and me failing horribly. It wasn't long before our food arrived at our table. He was quick to tell me I could only eat with chopsticks, so my struggle for the first bite a long and hard adventure but with it in the end.

"This is great!' I exclaimed, shoving more into my mouth.

"I know! According to some people, this is the closest you can get to Japanese food that tastes like the Japanese food you get in Japan," he answered.

"I would like to test that theory."

"So would I," he ate another piece, "That's my dream at the moment."

"Really?"

"In the long run, yes. It's just amazing to me, the way people live and what they create, and most importantly the food."

He smiled. There was something bright in his eyes that said that he planed to keep living like he was happy to be alive. At that moment I swore to myself that I was going to take Phil to Japan.

"I really didn't know it was him!" Phil exclaimed.

"Yep, that Felix is Pewdiepie," I answered.

We were on our way back when it hit Phil that Felix was the one and only Pewdiepie. How he didn't know it before was what surprised me.

"How did I not notice it was him? Like, really, I've been watching him for a while and its great. How did I not know?"

It went on like this for a while, him rambling on about how he didn't know Felix was PewDiePie Felix and me just smiling at how baffled he was. He didn't even notice that we were back at the shop until he was in the break room again. The light in his eye seemed to dim a little and his smile seem to fall.

"My shifts over in a couple of hours, then we can do whatever you want."

He looked up to me, "Define anything."

"Anything that won't get us killed or in trouble with the police."

He nodded and settled down on the couch again, "See you in four hours."

He smiled, a sweet one and one that wasn't forced or sarcastic. It was a content smile, a happy smile.

"Yeah, see you then," I said with a smile back, his face flushed and he quickly looked down to his laptop. I left the room as soon as I could without looking like I was trying to.  Of course, I ran into the one and only.

"We will give you two some privacy if you just ask," Louise said.

"What?"

"With your face like that what else am I to think?"

She walked away then, smiling to herself at her cleverness. Her point was pointless, but it did make me realize that my face was flushed too.
