Taehyung's POV
I let go of my friends, seeing Namjoon make his way out of the main area and into a different room, probably a lounge of some sort, and Jimin immediately running to the dance floor. I rolled my eyes, pushing my hair back a little more, seeing Jimin already beginning to dance with people.
"Don't let your eyes flash red, don't growl. I don't want our identities exposed to these humans," I commanded, my alpha voice damn clear in the mind-link, their responses heard instantly. I hummed, looking around the club, the music blaring in the background.
My eyes landed on the bar, noticing how it wasn't that packed, unlike the dance floor and main entrance. With a smirk, I pushed through the crowd, not failing to notice how they easily made a pathway for me. Scared already? I snickered, never meeting anyone's gaze as I took a seat near the end of the bar, a chair away from some other guy.
The bartender looked at me, his eyes seeming to scan over my attire, mouth formed in a perfect line. "Good evening, what can I get you?" I glanced up, forearms resting on the bar counter, one eyebrow-raising up. "Just hand me a beer." He turned around, popping open a mini-fridge and handing me a beer bottle.
"Anything else?" I popped the lid off, taking a drink, and setting the bottle down. "I'll pass, for now, thanks, man." He smirked, moving over to the guy near the wall, my eyes flickering up to scan over him. "So, are you going to do as Hoseok told you to do?" I could hear over the music, my eyes focusing back down on my hands.
"Jacob, look, I practically hate this place, not to mention I'm not risking what happened years ago, so I'm fine here." So, the bartender's name is Jacob, huh? I scoffed silently, playing with the rings on my hand, spinning them around my finger slowly. Why did I even care what his name was?
"Whatever, Kook, just whatever you do, make sure it's what you want." With that, the bartender, or Jacob I should say, walked to the other end of the bar, pouring shots for some people. The smell of alcohol and liquor already reeked, a growl forming in my throat.
Don't even consider pushing yourself up to the surface. When we're not in the forest, you don't exist. My wolf growled, pushing himself down a bit. If you're in trouble, don't expect me to hold back, Taehyung. I hummed, focusing back on my hands while I shut off the connection with my wolf for a while.
I couldn't risk anything.
Not when we just fled, not when we're already bound to spark some attention here. My eyes flickered up, landing on the male Jacob was talking to. He was staring down at his phone, the bright screen illuminating his face. Did he seem.. angry? Something about the way his features contorted made me believe he was unhappy.
I caught myself staring, my eyes flickering up to glance at the shelves on the wall ahead of me. I couldn't keep my gaze away, my eyes flickering back onto him, this time, his eyes meeting mine. I cocked an eyebrow, hearing his breath hitch.
Despite how loud this music was, I could still pick up the littlest sounds. We stared at one another for a while, my face blank, my eyes finally shifting down to my hands again. "You new around here?" My head shot up, my eyes landing on the male.
"You could say that," I said, my voice finally let out, his eyes widening a bit. "How'd you figure that out?" I asked, taking a gulp of the beer, knowing well enough that alcohol didn't really affect me. "Ah, well, when you come here as much as I do, you begin to learn faces." I met his eyes again, scanning over his features.
"You come here a lot?" He shrugged, looking down at his phone again. "You could say that, not by choice though." I snickered, deciding to just get up and move one seat over. I could feel his eyes on me, his pink lips parted open.
"I rather not yell over the music, so I hope you don't mind," I stated emotionlessly, my back pressed against the bar while I sat on the stool next to him, beer in hand. He hummed, his eyes on me while I stared at the dance floor. "I get it, you're good."
"You got friends here or something?" I asked, taking another drink of the beer. He laughed, the humor not even sensed within that laugh. "Sadly. I'm the only one they can call to drive them home." I snickered, meeting his gaze again.
"So, you're not a fan of getting wild, yeah?" Something seemed to spark in his brown eyes, his mouth shut, lips twitching up a bit. "It's not that, I can get pretty wild, it's just," He stopped, staring at the bar counter, hands clenched into fists lightly.
"You don't have to continue if you don't want." I shrugged, turning around, my forearms resting on the marble bar counter. I stared at my hands again, messing with one of my rings. "Just fear." I glanced at him, cocking an eyebrow again.
"Fear, huh?" I let out a laugh, my wolf slowly clawing at the connection, trying to open it. I cleared my throat, shaking my head. "You won't get far in life if you fear things." I shrugged, seeing his eyes flicker with something.
"Yeah, well, that's a little easier said than done." I smirked, taking another drink, setting the bottle down. "To each their own, I suppose." He laughed, this time the laughter was real, his lips twitching up into a small smile.
"What brings you to Vinyl?" I hummed, sitting back a bit, glancing around the dance floor nearby. "Well, just seeing what this place has to offer, I suppose." He leaned against the wall, turning around in his chair, staring at the dance floor.
"Where'd you come from?" I snickered again, meeting his gaze for a few seconds before looking away. "Not anywhere near here." He seemed to raise his eyebrows at the answer, my wolf continuing to claw at the surface. I took a deep breath, inhaling a really good scent.
That's surprising, this place reeks of sweat and alcohol, so, where's that coming from? I shook my head, drinking the rest of my beer. "Where are your friends?" He asked, shoving his phone into his pocket and drinking some soda. "What makes you think I came with people?"
He smirked, crossing his arms over his chest. "Not hard to spot an unfamiliar face around here. You three stuck out really badly, so, where are they?" I rolled my eyes, glancing at the bartender. "Beats me. Those fuckers go anywhere, I could care less at this point."
"They must not mean much to you then." I met his eyes, amusement flashing through mine, the scent getting stronger and my wolf clawing more at the surface. "Our relationship is a little different than what you'd expect."
"How so?" Jacob came back, a small smile flashing my way. "Anything else I can get for you?" I hummed, picking up the beer bottle slightly, placing it back down. He smirked, grabbing another beer and handing it to me. "Thanks." He walked off, scanning over the male next to me.
"Don't worry too much about it, kid." He scoffed loudly, leaning up against the wall, his eyes flickering with anger. "I'm not a kid, asshole." I looked at him, studying his face for a few seconds. "Yeah? What are you, like, sixteen or something?" His eyes widened, my smirk returning.
"Thought so. Look, I could care less how old you are or why you're here, but I'm just saying, compared to those around you, you're a kid." He slumped a bit, eyes closing shut, face blank. "Yeah, whatever. Not like I came here by choice."
I hummed, seeing Jimin on the dance floor, Namjoon joining them. "What's your name?" I found myself asking, seeing his eyes snap open, meeting mine. He hesitated, eyes flickering back and forth, mouth formed in a perfect line.
"Jungkook." I nodded, popping the lid off the beer bottle and chugging it down. "Yourself?" I took a deep breath, the scent hitting me some more, a growl forming in my throat. Where the fuck was that scent coming from? "V," I said, my voice sounding a little strained.
"V? Is that some nickname or something?" I looked at him, my wolf trying to pry the connection open, my teeth gritting a bit while I struggled to keep it closed. "You could say that, I suppose." I looked away from him, gulping anxiously, scanning the dance floor.
"Yo! V! Dude, let's dance!" Jimin shouted, walking off the dance floor and towards me, Namjoon following right behind him. "I'll pass, Park. I'm not big on dancing." He rolled his eyes, sitting beside me, Namjoon standing over by Jungkook.
"Who's he?" Namjoon asked, pointing to Jungkook who suddenly looked a little scared and small. "Do you two ever mind your fucking business?" They snickered, glancing at the male beside me. "Hey, kid, what's your name?" Jungkook gulped, eyes meeting mine and flashing with fear.
Why was he all of a sudden so scared? Better yet, why did I feel the need to protect him in some way? I shut my eyes tightly, feeling another growl form in my throat, my wolf still clawing at the connection. "Leave him alone, yeah?"
My voice was deeper, my eyes meeting Jimin's. His eyes widened, shock evident on both my friends' faces. "You're standing up for this kid? What's gotten into you? You don't even talk to people." Jungkook kept staring at me, pressing his back into the wall a bit more.
Anger coursed through my veins, my eyes meeting Jimin's. "Shut your trap, Park. Go dance or whatever." He and Namjoon just stared for a bit, finally walking away. I sighed, running a hand over my face. "You alright?" I asked Jungkook, his eyes still wide.
"Yeah. Yeah I'm, I'm fine." I rolled my eyes, chugging more of the beer. "Yeah, whatever you say. Don't pretend like it wasn't obvious you were terrified." His eyes narrowed, fists clenching. The scent was only getting stronger, a sense of dizziness flooding my body.
Where the hell was it coming from?
"You don't know shit about me, so don't think I was terrified, fucker." I snickered again, meeting his eyes which were coursing with anger. "Watch it, Jungkook," I warned, the command evident within my voice, his body freezing, eyes shutting closed.
The hell? Since when did werewolf commands work on humans? "Where are your friends?" I asked nonchalantly, finishing my second beer and setting the bottle down. "Somewhere in the club," He mumbled, eyes opening to meet mine. For some reason, he looked a lot less dominant than before.
He seemed a little vulnerable, eyes big, mouth parted open. "You don't want to find them?" He shook his head, inching a little closer to me. "No, not really. They'll just drag me away to dance and I don't want to." As if on cue, three guys came forward, calling out for Jungkook.
My friends saw, eyes locking with mine, beginning to head this way. "Relax. Just keep an eye out, I don't know what these guys want." They nodded from afar, the three males rushing this way. "Jungkook! Let's dance!" One guy shouted, his voice extremely loud.
I groaned a bit, seeing Jungkook inch closer to me, almost like he wanted to hide behind me. "Who the fuck are you?" The male asked, eyes meeting mine, something flashing with them. "I could ask you the same question. What does it matter?"
"What does it matter? You're talking to our friend! Of course, it matters!" His breath smelled of alcohol, my eyes rolling. "Quiet down. He's old enough to take care of himself and we're just talking." I smirked, meeting his eyes.
"Or is talking off limits?" The male looked at Jungkook, narrowing his eyes a bit. "If you lay a finger on him, you're dead meat." I laughed, knowing my friends heard that. "Yeah? What, you think you can do something to me?" I teased, sitting against the bar.
"Try me," I barked out, the male's eyes flashing with anger, his hand balled up into a fist and ready to throw at me. "Hoseok, no!" Jungkook shouted, his fist sent flying, my eyes shutting while I smirked. I caught his fist, squeezing it in my hand. "Nice try."
"Get away from me, now," I commanded, their eyes widening, legs stumbling a bit while they backed away. Jungkook looked at me, shocked, eyes wide and mouth parted. "How did you..." I shook my head, taking another deep breath, the scent hit me at full force.
I shut my eyes, my wolf opening up the connection. Taehyung! Ma- I closed it, my heart racing, eyes snapping back open. "Hey? You okay?" Jungkook asked, hand moving to touch my shoulder. I stopped him out of instinct, my skin connecting with his, sparks tingling through my body.
Fuck!
I pulled my hand away immediately, my eyes narrowing, almost flashing blue again. "Fucking shit," I cursed, looking at my friends. "We gotta go, now!" They looked at me, furrowing their eyebrows. Jungkook was staring at me in shock, eyes wide. "Fucks sake. I have to go. Nice meeting you."
I dumped some cash on the counter, standing up from the barstool, his hand reaching out to grab mine, more sparks felt. "What the... what is that?" He asked, eyes wide when I turned to face him and yank my hand away. "Stay away before I do something I'll regret," I warned, a whimper emitting from him.
Out of all times, why now?
My wolf opened the surface again, my eyes shutting as I felt him claw at the surface. "Leave! Now!" I roared into the mind-link, sprinting out of the club and down the street, my wolf finally taking control, my eyes staring at the ground.
Get to the forest.
I sprinted, racing passed the few pedestrians on the street, my legs taking me straight for the woods. My friends were shouting for me in the mind-link, my gaze shifting to the woods once I finally entered it. I sprinted forward more, jumping and shifting into my wolf, running into the woods.
Why? Out of all times! Why did I have to find them now?
I growled loudly, my eyes dark blue, practically glowing as I sped through the forest, reaching our camp and looking around. There were no scents around, meaning no one had been here. I growled again, letting out a roar, anger coursing through my body.
Of course. Of fucking course, I had to find them now. When I flee to keep us alive, I'm dealt with the biggest problem I've had yet to face! The problem that could just expose me to the human race!
I found my fucking mate.
-·=»‡«=·-
Yikes, he knows. What'll happen with Jungkook? Will he try to search for V, or will he just think it was all in his mind?
Will Taehyung tell Jimin and Namjoon about Jungkook being his mate, or will he keep that a secret?
I purple you 💜
