Chapter Two
I decided to update this again! Yay! (Only after creating three more stories...) Anyway! I finally got another idea for a chapter! FYI this story is gonna be kind of quick paced because I can't wait for the demigods to meet the new Percy... Yeah. I'm an awful author, I'm sorry. I'll try to dial down the speed. Yeah.
Percy's POV
Everyone else went to bed drunk out of their minds, except Elizabeth. I'm still trying to get over the fact that Diane is a thirty foot giant and the leader of their little 'group' isn't older than twelve, yet was probably more drunk than everyone except Ban, who drank almost as much as Diane. Yeah, I'm talking barrels of beer. I kind of hung off to the side, watching everyone. Elizabeth obviously liked Meliodas, and Meliodas (Very obviously) likes Elizabeth. That made me very uncomfortable, to be honest, and Diane pummeling Meliodas? Probably the highlight of my night. King also obviously liked Diane, and Ban kept teasing, to which King would freak out about and Ban would burst out laughing, but there seemed something deeper in their relationship, a hidden grudge, maybe bond. Same with Meliodas and Elizabeth, though it was more obscure with them.
Everyone else was in bed, but I sat by the fire all alone. Well, Diane was sleeping on the other side of the tab, but she was snoring loudly and heavily sleeping, her large Gideon at her side. After a while of being bored I decided to clean up after the drunk bunch. I picked up trash, which included beer bottles and food, to name a few, and organized the leftover beer bottles, setting them in a row by brand on a picnic table near the fire. Once satisfied with my work, I sat back down on the ground and stared at the fire. It was so peaceful, I found myself wandering into my memories.
Flashback
"I hate you!" Annabeth screeched, throwing a lamp in my direction. I ducked and it shattered over my head, the glass falling in pieces to the floor. "I hate you I hate you I hate you!" She kept throwing things at me while I tried to talk to her.
"What did I do?! Please tell me!" I begged, dodging a flying dictionary.
"You know what you did, you jerk!" She screamed. She noticed she had thrown everything she had at me and instead threw a fist.
"Annabeth!" I yelled, trying to dodge her continuous blows at me. "Please! Stop!"
She landed a nice blow to my jaw and I heard a sickening crack. She was crying now, screaming that she hated me over and over. I stumbled, holding my jaw when she drew her dagger. My eyes widened. "Annabeth! Please, no! I don't know what I did but I'm sorry!" I screamed, but she didn't listen. She drove her dagger into my stomach, making me gasp in pain. I stumbled around the Athena cabin, blood oozing between my fingers and falling to the floor.
I fumbled for the hilt of the dagger, breathing heavily for oxygen. I saw her pick up a large book and approach me, a murderous look in her eyes. "A-Ann-Annabeth." I gasped, but she swung the book across my face. I felt just about every bone in the left side of my face shatter, making me let out a low scream. Another blow to my face and my world tilted sideways, making me stumble in circles before I felt myself fall sideways, my world going black.
End of Flashback
I jolted out of my memories and immediately felt tears streaming down my face. I looked around to make sure no one was up. No lights were on and Diane was still snoring, so I let it out. I cried and cried. I cried for my losses, for Annabeth, for the gods, for my ex-father, my pain and my sorrow. I felt so empty. Not letting me emotions get to me for so long had been painful, but it didn't let me break. Now I remembered everything. So I cried, for what felt like hours. "Why are you crying?" I heard a curious voice ask from behind me.
I spun around and saw Gowther, staring with his head tilted sideways and a curious glint in his eyes. "I'm not." I muttered, wiping me eyes.
"You had salty water coming from your eyes. That is crying, is it not?" He asked, his voice full of interest, like he had no idea.
"I guess it is." I muttered.
"Then why were you crying? What emotion are you feeling?" He asked.
"I was... I was crying because I remembered something." I muttered, turning to look back at the fire. I figured he would get that I didn't want to talk and leave, but instead he walked over and sat next to me.
"What memory made you cry?" He asked curiously, his pink hair falling into his eyes. "Was is a good memory or bad?"
"Bad." I responded half heartedly.
"What about the memory made you cry?" He asked. I looked over at him with a 'really?' expression, but his confused expression expanded.
"Why did you make that face?" He asked.
"Because I'm agitated." I muttered.
"Agitated. Frustrated or angry at something. What are you frustrated or angry about?"
"Never mind." I grumbled.
"What emotion did you feel when you were crying?" He repeated. My gods, did he not get it? (No Percy, he doesn't. Leave poor Gowther alone you jerk.)
"Sadness." I responded.
"Sadness." He repeated. "A feeling of despair. Why so you feel Sad?"
"Because of memories."
"Bad memories." He remembered. "What bad memory? What made them so bad?"
I sighed. He's not going to give up. "My girlfriend- She was really angry at me and she almost killed me."
"She was angry." He repeated. "A great show of annoyance or displeasure. Why did she had displeasure against you?"
"I don't know Gowther." I sighed.
"Can I look?" He asked. It was my turn to look confused.
"Look at what?" I asked.
"Your memories."
"My... Memories? You can do that?" I asked. Somehow, I felt relieved. Maybe someone would understand. Then again, he didn't seem to understand anything, like emotions were new to him.
"I can. We all have powers, the Seven Deadly Sins and that Elizabeth." He reached his hand up and pointed a finger at my neck, where a small electric light protruded, entering my neck. I rubbed the area as soon as it went away, but I felt no pain.
He seemed it zone out for a second before his eyes seemed to focus again. His eyes once again held no emotion but curiosity. "Why do those people hate you?" He asked. I could feel myself tearing up again, so I turned away from him.
"Because I failed them." I whispered. "I didn't save their friends."
"It looks like you saved far more people than they could." He noted, and out of the corner of my eye I saw him looking at me curiously.
"But not enough." I choked out, letting out a following sob.
He was silent after that. "Why didn't you try to stop them?" He asked after a while.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Why didn't you stop them from hurting you?"
"They were my friends. I didn't want to hurt them."
"But isn't that what they deserve?" He asked. "If they hurt you, shouldn't you hurt them back?"
"That's not how the world works Gowther. I couldn't hurt them."
"Why not? You obviously outmatch them in physical and magical strength." He questioned.
"It's my fatal flaw."
"Fatal flaw? A flaw that can get you killed, correct? What is your, per say, fatal flaw?" He asked curiously.
"My fatal flaw is loyalty. I trust almost anyone and remain loyal to my friends. I can't hurt anyone I'm close to. I would rather give my own life than let someone else die." I explained, though I'm not really sure why.
"Why would you rather let yourself die than the people who weren't loyal back to you?"
"It's hardwired into my brain, like a switch I can't flip."
He hummed in response. "A literal switch?"
"No Gowther." He hummed again.
"Hm. Don't you need sleep?" He asked.
"I couldn't sleep if I tried." I responded. Thankfully, he didn't question that.
"Don't you need sleep though?" I asked him.
"No. I'm not human either." He responded. This time I looked over at him curiously.
"I'm a living doll." He explained. "I'm living, but I don't require food, water, sleep, or other necessary human requirements."
"So that's why you're asking a lot of questions." I summed up. I somehow wasn't very surprised he wasn't human.
"Correct. My sin is lust. Goat sin of Lust. I sinned in attempt to learn human emotions." He told me. This time I hummed in response.
"Seven Deadly Sins. But there are only five of you. All of you have committed sins?" I asked. He nodded.
"Meliodas, Dragon's sin of Wrath. He destroyed in entire kingdom with ease, leaving nothing but a smoldering crater. Ban, Fox's sin of Greed. His greed took away the thing that meant most in life to him. King, Grizzly sin of Sloth. His laziness and ignorance left his entire kingdom to burn to the ground. Diane, Serpent sin of Envy. Her envy of being small has led her to injure, if not kill, many."
I contemplated that for a while. These people were really powerful. I grinned to myself.
And I'm one of them.
