Chapter 22.

Percy Jackson-

Do normal people have a goddess in their head?

No.  The answer is no-no they do not.

Do you think I'm a normal person?  Yes, I'm breaking the very thin wall here, but roll with me for a minute.

If you think I'm a normal person (I doubt that's what you were thinking) then you have clearly never had a goddess wailing in your head.

Do this, Perseus.  Do that, Sea Spawn.

This is almost as bad a Annabeth when she is rambling about Architecture.  But that is different.  Because I love my Wise Girl, so I can tolerate it.

Hecate...

I honestly think I'm legitimately going insane.

That isn't actually a first...but still!  I don't like it.

Ohh, teach her how to stab stuff now!

Hecate, I'll teach her how to be awesome like a demigod.  But I'm doing it my way.  I'm going to say this only once politely.  GET THE HADES OUT OF MY HEAD!

Jeez, no need to shout.

You are so annoying, you know that?  Look, no offense, but I literally see you and train with you every single night.  You are only supposed to be in my head on important events like when I'm supposed impersonate the princess with the hair that reminds me of cinnamon buns...which stinks, since I don't actually like cinnamon.

Well, yes, that is what I said...but...

But what?

I'm boooorrrrreeddd!

I swear, I almost dropped my sword.

"Is something wrong?" Ginny asked, lowering hers as I almost fell-you know, how people fall in those anime shows.

"Sorry," I muttered.  "And to think!-People say I act childish!"

"What?"  Ginny asked uncertainly.

"Well, I'll tell you-!"

"Percy?" I think that was Thalia, but I was on a roll.

"I'll have you know that I'm plenty-!"

"Kelp Head?" Nico asked, looking alarmed.

"I am way more childish than you!" I said triumphantly.

"Look, BLUE COOKIES!" Someone screamed, breaking me out of my trance.

"Where?!" I asked, my eyes widening.  "Mine!  Where are th--" I faltered.  "There are...no cookies...are there?"  I pouted and slumped my shoulders in disappointment.

"Perce, you were acting weirder than normal." Ginny asked me in a concerned manner.  "Are you okay?"

"Are you going to ask me that again when I get blue cookies?" I asked hopefully.

"...No," Thalia smirked.  "No cookies."

I sniffled and gave her the baby seal look.

"No!" Thalia said sternly.  "Don't like at me like that, Perseus Jackson!"

"What is he doing?" Ginny asked out of the corner of her mouth.

"His thing." Nico answered her the same way she'd asked.

"What thing could work against Thalia?" Ginny asked a little louder.

"The baby seal pout," Nico answered seriously.  "It is the most dangerous tool in his arsenal.  Even more dangerous than Riptide.  It has sucked in many poor, defenseless demigods.  The cuteness cannot be overpowered."

Ginny burst out laughing.  I wanted to shoot her a cheeky grin, but the task at hand was much more important.

"Fine!" Thalia groaned as she lost the battle of will against adorableness.  "I'll write to your mom to make you blue cookies!"

"Yes!" I cheered.

"So what were you acting like Leo for?" Nico asked.  Ginny giggled a little.

"Oh, I had a goddess in my head."

That was met with silence.  No idea why.  I thought that was pretty straightforward and self-sufficient.  What is so hard to comprehend about the fact that I had a goddess in my brain?

"Percy?"

"Yeah?" I asked casually.

"You are one strange, strange demigod."

"I know."

"Oh, so long as we're on the same page." Nico nodded.

I grinned and shrugged, rubbing the back of my neck.  "Anyway, back to before we got rudely interrupted by a childish goddess, time to teach you awesomeness." I grinned at Ginny, and she had a budding smile on her face.

"I'll teach you hand-to-hand," Thalia grinned.

"I'll be teaching you sword fighting."

"I'll make sure you get a nice funeral if they accidently kill you-most likely while trying to kill each other." Nico said, grinning cheerfully.

Ginny's jaw dropped and looked to Thalia to me.  "Uh, is he kidding?"

Thalia and each other looked at each other, having a silent conversation, and shrugged.

Our mental conversation went something like this;

'You think he's kidding?'

'Please, it's Death Breath, Kelpie.  What's you think?'  You can guess which one of said that one.

'So he isn't kidding?'

"Does he ever?'

'I don't know.'

'Well, that's hardly surprising.'

'Should I be offended?'

'You could be whatever you want, but it doesn't change the fact that you are an idiot.'

'...I actually don't have a defense for that.'

'Ha.'

'Yeah, yeah.  Hunters rule, I get it.  What were we talking about in the first place?'

'Hmmm....Come to think of it, I don't actually remember.  Let's see here....oh!  We were discussing whether or not Ghosty was kidding about us killing Ginny, and him being here to give her a nice funeral.'

'Sadie said that was Anubis's job...'

'What?'

'Sadie Kane...oh, right.  You didn't meet her.  Never mind.'

'...I don't even want to know.'

'Probably not.'

'Anyway, so was he kidding or not?'

'Well, I guess we could try extra hard not to kill her.  Try extra hard, I mean.'

'Sure.  I like her, I don't want to kill her.'

'Now to figure out if Zombie Dude has an actual sense of humor.'

'We  could figure that out later.  Let's shrug at Ginny.  Shrugging always works in place of actual answers when we don't have them...which is pretty much all of the time.'

'You, ma'am, are a ray of sunshine.'

'You should be feeling deja vu right about now.'

'Nah, different wording.  Totally different Grace sibling.'

'Say my last name again, I dare you.'  Is it possible to growl at someone in your mind?  Well, Thalia Grace had just done it, so it must be.

'Okay, let's shrug now!'

We turned back to Ginny, who was watching us with a bemused expression.  We shrugged.

"You people are horrible," Ginny deadpanned.

The three of us looked at each other, then back at Ginny and grinned.

...

"That's right," I encouraged.  "Keep moving, don't stay still."

She stabbed her sword forward, and I knocked it aside carelessly.

"Less power into the jabs, you're putting too much of your body behind it, which means you wouldn't be able to defend yourself if I attacked just then."

We continued to spar, me giving her lots of pointers as our swords clashed.  She was a quick learner, and my advice lessened.

"Stay lighter on your feet," I warned, as I smacked the side of my blade against her leg.  She grimaced, but her eyes were blazing with determination, and I found myself growing more respect for her.

Not only was she a generally nice person, and fun to hang out with, she was trust worthy.  She also was determined and talented.  If anything, I was glad I was brought into this world, if only to make a new friend I knew I could count on.  Honestly, I didn't think people gave her enough credit.  Her friends, brothers, parents...they all loved her, of course, but they failed to see how strong of a person she really was deep down.

She continued to attack, despite us having sparred for three hours.  We were both sweating, her more than me.  I was a little tired, but she was clearly exhausted.

"Thals, what time is it?" I asked.

"I think it's time to go.  We need a good night sleep tonight." Thalia said grimly.

"Why?" I asked.

"We haven't caused enough mayhem," Thalia frowned.  "We need to change that."

"This is horrible!" Nico said dramatically, his eyes widening.

"Indeed," I bowed my head in shame.

Ginny just laughed at us.

"Okay, so one last thing before we head back to the Common Room," I said, grinning.

"One more spar?  Real quick?"

"My, my, you're eager, aren't you."

Ginny shrugged.  "This-fighting like this...it makes me feel alive.  It is way more exhilarating than magic.  More fun, more exciting.  I like it."

"Even though it is dangerous?"

"I think that's the best part." She smirked.

"Who is your favorite god/goddess?" I asked.

"Sorry, Neeks, Thals, Poseidon rules."

Thalia and Nico stuck their tongues out at her.

"Why'd you ask?" Ginny asked.  "That was really random."

"Oh, yeah, I know." I grinned.  "My dad is your favorite god, right, so how'd you like to be my honorary sister?"

"What?" Ginny's jaw went slack.  Thalia and Nico looked confused, but snickered at her expression.

"You want to be an honorary daughter of Poseidon?  You won't have any powers or anything...but you get bragging rights.  Besides, I know you sometimes feel a little felt out-you said before that you were just a witch.  Well, you aren't just anything.  But I thought maybe it would help.  You already have a place among us...I just thought it would help you wrap your mind around it if it was more official."

Ginny looked like she didn't know what to say, so I continued.  "Besides, you are already pretty good with that sword.  More lessons, practice, and trust me-no one would doubt that you're demigod material."

"Thank you." Ginny said softly.  "So...I'm an honorary daughter of Poseidon?"

"Well, yeah.  Which means you're family now, aren't you?  My honorary sister."

"My honorary cousin." Thalia and Nico said at the same time.  Then they turned and glared at each other.  "Hey!  Stop that!  Cut it out!  La la la la!" They continued to talk in unison, and Ginny and I were laughing.  It was highly amusing, my I figured it was time to break them up when they started trying to strangle each other.

"Oh, the plights of demigods," I muttered to Ginny as Nico got punched in the face.  "Look what you've gotten into."

"I can live with it.  You weirdos highly amuse me."

"Well, you're a weirdo now, too."

Ginny's smirk could only be described as pure evil.  Oh no.

So, hi.  I've said it before, but Ginny seriously doesn't get enough credit.  How does no one see how awesome of a character she is?

So, she's an honorary daughter of Poseidon now.  I thought she deserved it...so, yeah.

Please, guys, vote, comment, and all that jazz.  I swear, it went from 200 something votes on the first chapter to less than 100.  What's up with that?  Come on, guys, I know you're there.  Please press the little star thingy.

You know the bad thing about work?

...work.

Not work as in manual labor, as in school work.  It stinks.

But that is besides the point.  Focus on the positives in life.  Thalia and Nico are killing each other, and the next chapter is going to get interesting.  I'm not going to say why (That's not because I have no idea, because I totally do), but it is.  I think.  So I'll try to update soon.  If you can, give my other stories a chance.  While I'm at it, I'll try and update those as well.  :)

I really appreciate all the votes and comments I get, and it means a lot to me that all of you guys are reading my story.  Keep being awesome-AND do remember that none of this is edited.  So, keep that in mind if/when you see grammar mistakes, or random punctuation floating around somewhere.
