Emily Sanders

She's a little slow and sort of a hypocrite.

Emily was sitting in the lobby of the dormitory, enjoying a good book when the doors were opened suddenly. She lifted her eyes off the words scribbled on the pages and cast her gaze over to the doors.

A girl with blonde curly hair and grey eyes, around the same age as Emily, strode into the dormitory with her luggage in her hands. She held herself with perfect posture and her chin held high. Rolling her eyes, Emily looked back down at her book and tried to ignore the fact that there was a seemingly new stuck up demigod- or legacy- at NRU. Emily just hoped that she wouldn't have to interact with that girl too much.

Looking back down at her book, Emily was interrupted by the door opening again. The only difference was that, this time, she didn't mind too much. She looked back over to the door and saw a boy, a really good looking boy, enter the lobby. His hands were full with boxes and duffle bags.

She closed her book and stood, striding over to him. "Do you want some help?" Emily asked, really trying to get on this guy's goodside.

"If you don't mind." He offered her a small grin and she could feel herself falling for this boy she doesn't even know. "My dorm is on the second floor and it's room 245."

"Okay." Emily reached over and took one of the boxes and a duffle bag out of his hands. She gestured with her head for him to follow her over to the elevator. Pressing the button, they waited in an awkward silence for the doors to open and when they did they entered. "Second floor," Emily muttered and pressed the button.

She took this time to examine the boy. He had unruly black hair that looked like he just took a long walk on the beach. His green- no seagreen- eyes were bright and seemed just the tiniest bit cracked but she shook it off. He was tall and muscular, but not in the gross way. This guy, was Emily's type.

The boy cleared his throat. "I'm Percy by the way."

And a unique name. He was getting higher on her list; seemingly goofy, loyal, and lazy. Why was she getting the lazy vibes from him? First of all, his outfit. Percy was wearing black sweatpants (or joggers if that's what you call them) and a blue AHS sweatshirt, whatever that stood for. Second of all, it was the way he held himself; he slouched a little bit and his hair was messy.

Emily smiled. "I'm Emily."

"Nice to meet you, Emily," Percy replied and walked out into the hallway when the doors opened. He was polite too. She was really falling for him now. Hopefully he's single.

Emily nodded and led him over to the dorms. "Right here." She pointed to the door number and he grinned. "I'll just leave your stuff here."

"Thank you," Percy said honestly. "For helping me."

She lifted her shoulder in a half shrug. "Yeah, no problem. Maybe I'll see you around?"

"Yeah, maybe." He unlocked his door and stepped inside. "Bye, thanks again."

"Yeah, see you later." She waved before walking back towards the way they came but instead of taking the elevator, she took the stairs. What? It was good exercise and she was not a lazy person. Emily almost never took the elevator, only if she was carrying something heavy.

Walking down the hallway to her dorm (after grabbing her book of course), Emily smiled to herself and found it ironic that she started having a crush even before school started. She'd arrived at NRU yesterday afternoon and had gotten to her dorm right away, putting everything in place so she could have the last day of freedom to herself.

She took her keys out of her pocket and was about to unlock the door when she realized it was already open. Her face broke into a smile. Her roommate must have arrived! Emily couldn't wait to become best friends with hers like everyone does in the movies.

But her smile soon turned into a frown when she saw who her roommate was. Emily pushed open the door and her smile dropped. Making her bed on the opposite side of the dorm as Emily's, was that girl she saw downstairs. The seemingly stuck up blonde bitch she saw walk in.

Hearing the door open, the girl turned around and smiled. "Hey, I'm Annabeth." Even her name sounded preppy.

"Um, hi." Emily walked silently over to her side of the dorm and placed her book back in its place on the bookshelf. Without saying another word, Emily plopped down on her bed and started scrolling through her monster proof phone, texting her mortal friends about her roommate.

Annabeth pursed her lips and nodded, turning back to her bed. That certainly wasn't what she expected when the lady downstairs who runs the dormitory said she had a sweet girl for a roommate. "What's your name?"

"Emily," She muttered, not looking up from her phone.

"It's nice to meet you, Emily." Annabeth finished her bed and started unpacking her suitcase, placing all her clothes into the dresser beside the end of her bed. "What are you going to college to be?"

Emily rolled her green eyes. How nosy could this girl get? And she had to live with her for-what?- four years? "Oceanography." She set her phone down and stared up at the ceiling, silently cursing the gods out. Why did they put her with Annabeth? "Who's your godly parent or are you a legacy?"

Annabeth took a moment to answer since she was ripping open one of her boxes. "My mom's Athena," She said while taking out a few blueprints and her laptop that her mom somehow got back from Tartarus. "You?"

Even worse. She's Greek and her mom was Minerva, a virgin goddess. Yeah, Emily didn't really agree with Greeks being allowed at Camp Jupiter or New Rome. Those places were made for Romans to live, not Greeks. Besides, the Greeks were known to be untrustful but she had sworn to Reyna that she would be considerate. "My grandmother is Ceres."

"Roman form of Demeter." Annabeth nodded. "Got it."

And the way she talked, 'Roman form of Demeter', like the Greeks were so much better than the Romans, which they weren't. Greeks were ruthless and almost never had a plan. According to Reyna, they had just charged into war with no plan but she had found it funny! At least the Romans had their priorities straight and they would live longer lives.

Emily didn't respond, she just stood up, grabbed some pajamas out of her dresser, and trudged to the bathroom to change. She came out a few minutes later and saw Annabeth sitting on her bed, looking at her laptop. Everything of hers seemed to be put away but not very neatly. Blueprints were everywhere! She was probably going to college to be an architect.

Making a face of disgust at the mess, Emily slipped under her covers and turned her lamp off. She tried to sleep with Annabeth's light still on and she really tried to be patient. But after an hour, it was ten at night, she couldn't take it anymore. "Would you turn your light off, please? Some people care about school and want to get some sleep!"

Annabeth blinked, probably startled at her outburst, and nodded. She turned her lamp off but didn't shut her laptop down and go to sleep herself. Emily rolled her eyes and turned around in bed, now facing the wall.

The next morning, Emily's alarm clock went off around six. She sat up in bed and stretched, glancing over at Annabeth. She was spread out across her bed, her hair covering her face but a curl moved everytime she exhaled.

Emily stood and grabbed some jean shorts and a cute white blouse out of the dresser and approached the bathroom to change. She exited after she took a shower, got dressed, did her makeup, and blow dried her straight brown hair.

She rolled her eyes when she saw that Annabeth was still sleeping. Emily wanted to just leave her and have her get in trouble for being late to her courses but she would feel bad about it later. "Annabeth."

Annabeth blinked her eyes open and gazed at the alarm clock she forgot to set. Her eyes widened and she sat up in bed. "Thanks."

"Yeah, whatever." Emily grabbed her backpack off the floor and slipped her bag into it. She shouldered it and slipped on her shoes, tying the laces at a fast rate. "See you tonight." Then she was heading out of the dormitory and headed to building 3.

---

Walking into the classroom, she didn't recognize anyone there. Apparently, all her friends that were legacies like her changed their minds about wanting to take marine bio. She did recognize one person though; Percy.

She smiled and slid into the seat next to him. "Hey!"

He turned his face to look at her. "Oh, hi. Long time no see."

"For real," She laughed and took out her blue notebook and a black pen, setting it down on the small desk that was connected to the chairs. "So you're majoring in marine biology, too?"

Percy nodded and took out his school supplies. "Yeah, I want to be a marine biologist actually, you?"

"Oceanographer," Emily replied but silenced herself when the professor started to speak.

After class, it was already time for lunch. Emily was about to meet her friends at the cafeteria in the dormitories and decided to invite Percy, who was walking right next to her. "Hey, do you want to come eat lunch with my friends and me?"

Percy rubbed the back of his neck. "How long is lunch and can we go off campus?"

"Lunch is an hour and yes, we can go off campus." Emily pulled her phone to tell her friends to meet her by her dorm but then she realized he wasn't asking her. "I mean, yes, you can go off campus for lunch."

"Okay, then I already have plans." He smiled apologetically before heading in the opposite direction.

----

"Hey." Percy pressed his lips to Annabeth's when he met her near the dormitory.

She kissed back before pulling away slowly and smiling up at him. "Hi. How was your first day?" Annabeth slipped her fingers through his and they started walking to the nearest restaurant in New Rome.

"It was okay." Percy shrugged. "I didn't learn anything I didn't already know. I'm pretty sure I'm already the professor's favorite, answering all the questions correctly and everything."

Annabeth laughed and reached up, pinching his cheek lightly. "Of course you are."

Percy smacked her hand away, rubbing his cheek. "Yeah. How was getting settled in?"

She pursed her lips and looked down at the ground as they walked. "It was okay...until my roommate came it." She looked back up and Percy could see the evident hurt in her eyes. "She isn't the nicest person, ignoring me or snapping at me for no reason. She rolls her eyes a lot. I don't know why she doesn't like me."

"Did you hit or yell at her for touching one of your blueprints like you do to me?" Percy joked, letting go of her hand to wrap his arm around her shoulders, pulling her into his side.

Annabeth scoffed and whacked his chest playfully. "No!"

"I don't understand how anyone could not like you." Percy kissed the top of her head.

"I know." Annabeth scrunched her eyebrows together. "I'm awesome!"

Percy laughed and hugged her tighter to his side. "I love you."

"I love you too." Annabeth stopped walking and moved to stand in front of him. She stood on her tiptoes and kissed him, not hard or rough but sweet and passionate, not caring who saw them. She placed her hand against his neck, her thumb brushing against his jaw.

He pulled away after a few minutes and stared down at her with wide eyes. "Wow."

"I know." She rolled her eyes cockily. "My kisses are great."

"Anyway." Percy shook his head, breaking out of his daze. "What's your roommate's name?" He grabbed her hand and intertwined their fingers. They swung their arms between them as they walked.

Annabeth frowned. "I thought we were dropping that subject?" Percy shook his head. "Her name's Emily."

Percy raised an eyebrow. "Green eyes? Brown hair?"

"How'd you know?" Annabeth looked up at him in confusion,

"She helped me bring stuff up to my dorm last night."

"How ironic."

"I know."

Annabeth smiled and leaned on his shoulder. "Mess with her a bit. Don't tell her we're dating. Don't even mention that you know me."

"Why?" Percy looked genuinely hurt. "Are you breaking up with me?"

"No," She laughed. "She'll probably end up liking you and then she'll ask you over to our dorm. I'm betting, this Friday. She'll try to kick me out and I'll say no." She sent him a wink.

Percy laughed and kissed her temple. "Fine."

----
After a long first day of college, Emily finally got to go back to her dorm. She couldn't wait to just change into comfy pajamas and slip on some fuzzy socks, order takeout and watch netflix on her laptop for a couple hours. She was so thankful she didn't receive any homework for tonight.

Of course, her mood was immediately ruined when she opened the door to her dorm and spotted Annabeth sitting atop her bed, blueprints and other utensils spread out everywhere. Gods, does she know nothing about organization?

She set her backpack down on the floor beside her bed and dug through her dresser, taking out a pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt. Emily quickly changed then hopped onto her bed, immediately dialing a number for food. She ordered, not offering Annabeth any, and hung up. "Oh, sorry, did you want anything?" She asked sickly sweet.

Annabeth looked up from her laptop. "No thanks. My boyfriend is bringing me something from downstairs." She smiled like she knew something Emily didn't.

Emily made a face. "Suit yourself." She opened her laptop and pulled up Netflix, entering her passwords. She clicked on her favorite movie and slipped under the covers and started to watch.

About ten minutes later, there was a knock on the door and Emily was about to answer it when Annabeth jumped up, claiming she could get it. She opened the door and frowned. "Yeah, Emily, it's for you." She opened the door wider, revealing a man in black shorts and a white polo shirt.

"Oh, okay." Emily grabbed twenty dollars and paid for her food, thanking the man before closing the door with her foot. She sat down on her bed and dug in.

"Gods dammit!" She heard Annabeth curse. Emily looked up and saw that Annabeth's pencil broke. She wanted to laugh but held it in.

Emily swallowed a bite of food. "Is that all homework?"

"No," Annabeth muttered and dug through her bag for another pencil. She pulled one out after a minute. "It's a statue for Ares's room up in Olympus. He asked me to make him one." She rolled her grey eyes. "Hate that guy."

Emily widened her eyes. She even spoke about the gods! How disrespectful. Emily wouldn't be surprised if she got blasted out of thin air soon. "Yeah right, He asked you,"

Annabeth sent her a stern look. "No, seriously, I'm the architect of Olympus."

"Mhm," Emily hummed turning back to her movie. "And you really shouldn't talk that way about the gods. It might cost you your life."

"Haha. I'll talk bad about them if I want," Annabeth chuckled humorlessly, writing something down in her notebook. "I've done enough for their sorry asses. They wouldn't dare do anything." Thunder rumbled and Annabeth stared up at the ceiling. "Oh, shut up."

A couple minutes later another knock sounded from their door and Annabeth jumped up, answering it. She only opened it a crack so Emily couldn't see who it was. "Yeah.... No ...okay, Seaweed Brain...love you too." She shut the door and sat back down on her bed with food.

Emily rolled her eyes and finished watching her movie before going to sleep.

----

She woke up when it was still dark out. Confused, she looked over at her alarm clock and noticed that it was only two in the morning. Then she heard the shuffling across the room by Annabeth's bed. Emily whipped her head to the noise and saw Annabeth tossing and turning in bed, letting out occasional whimpers or 'no's.

Emily was about to get up and go get someone to get this psycho out of her room when Annabeth sat up in bed, gasping. Her breathing was hard and her face glistened with sweat and tears. "Are you okay?"

Annabeth shook her head. "C-can I use your phone?" Emily nodded and passed her phone over. Even though she didn't like Annabeth, she wasn't going to not be freaked out about what happened. "Thanks." She dialed in number and held her phone to her ear. "...It's Annabeth...nightmare ...yeah." She hung up and handed her phone back.

"What just happened?" Emily demanded, standing up when Annabeth did. "Where are you going?" She watched in confusion as Annabeth slipped on her tennis shoes.

Annabeth sniffed and wiped her eyes. "I have PTSD and I'm going to meet my boyfriend down in the lobby." Without another word, Annabeth was out the door.

"Goes against the rules too." Emily laid back down in bed and fell asleep.

----

Annabeth strode down the steps quietly, trying not to make too much noise. The last thing she would want to do is get caught and get kicked out of NRU. Though, she probably could get Reyna to stand up for her, explaining all the PTSD and stuff.

She made it down to the lobby and looked around the darkness for Percy. Annabeth found him standing by the furniture and she sobbed in relief. "Percy!" He turned to her and she crashed into him, wrapping her arms around his neck.

Percy hugged her back and rocked them back and forth. "Shh. It's okay, Wise Girl. I'm here and we're okay now. We're together. I love you."

"I love you too," She said shakily and pulled away to kiss him.

They pulled away after a minute and leaned their foreheads together. "Do you want to talk about it?" Percy asked. Annabeth shook her head. "Okay, tell me when you're ready."

"I really love you." She pulled back and stared into his bright green eyes. They seemed to be almost glowing because of the moonlight. "Like, a lot."

Percy laughed and pecked her forehead. "I love you too. Now, do you think you can go back to bed? We don't want to get caught."

Annabeth nodded and with one last kiss, they went their separate ways.
-----

"Percy!" Emily ran up to him after class that Friday.

He turned around and waved. "Hey, Emily. What's up?"

"Do you want to come to my dorm and hang out tonight?" She bit her lip and he guessed that the gestire was supposed to 'turn him on' but it didn't.

He was about to say no because he had a girlfriend but he remembered what Annabeth said. "Sure. What time?" He readjusted his backpack strap.

Emily pursed her lips. "How about five?"

"Five. Got it." Percy gave her a smile before walking away.

-----

Emily stormed into her dorm after school and started cleaning everything until her side of the room was spotless. She sighed when she spotted Annabeth in her normal spot with her normal mess. "I have a friend coming over tonight and I don't think he'll appreciate the mess. Or you here. So could you please pick up and leave for tonight." She gestured wildly to the door.

Annabeth raised an eyebrow and shook her head slowly. "No. I'll pick up but I'm not leaving." She started gathering her blueprints and slid them underneath the bed and set her laptop on her bedside table.

"Why won't you leave?" Emily asked exasperated. She just wanted privacy for tonight. Just for tonight! She wanted her and Percy to have a peaceful night and maybe become something more than friends but with Annabeth there, that wasn't going to happen. "I like him and we want privacy!"

"How do you know he wants privacy?" Annabeth asked. "How do you know he even likes you back?"

Emily gaped. "How do you even have the audacity to say something like that?"

Annabeth shrugged. "I've done a lot of reckless things and I've taken a lot of risks. Saying that is nothing." She grabbed a book about architecture (boring) and started reading.

"That's so rude and I bet you've done barely anything for the gods." Emily crossed her arms over her chest and stared at Annabeth until she looked up from her book.

"Yeah, sure. You think that." Annabeth laughed without humor. "I've done more than you've ever done in your life and I'm permanently scarred by one of them. So, don't even start with me."

"Permanently scarred," Emily scoffed and began making her bed so it would be comfortable for her and Percy. "That's a little dramatic don't you think?"

Annabeth hummed. "No. My nightmare last night? That's one of the scars and I have dozens of scars littering my body." She tugged on her grey sweatshirt and black sweatpants. "Which is why I cover up a lot."

"Okay, whatever." Emily rolled her eyes and checked the time. 4:56. "Just don't bother us tonight and do not interfere." Annabeth gave her a thumbs up.

5:00 P.M. rolled around and Emily was starting to get excited. Annabeth had said she wouldn't interfere and her and Percy could maybe become something more tonight. Though, Annabeth would be forced to leave if things got...intimate.

Emily jumped up from her bed and answered the door, revealing Percy who was holding a pillow and a sleeping bag. "Percy! Come in!" She turned around and lead him over the bed. What she didn't notice was Percy sending a wink over her shoulder and Annabeth slapping a hand over her mouth to keep from laughing.

"So," Percy said awkwardly. "What do you want to do?"

"I don't know." She gestured to her bed. "Netflix and chill?"

Annabeth snorted behind her book.

"We can watch Netflix, sure." Percy sat on the ground, leaning against her bed, and looked up. "You coming?"

Emily frowned and grabbed her laptop. "Do you want to sit on the bed? It's more comfortable."

Percy glanced at Annabeth and she nodded. "Um, sure." He stood and sat on her bed, his back against the wall. Okay, that's not what she was thinking but it would work. She sat down next to him and pulled up Netflix, putting on a movie they were talking about a couple of days ago.

When the credits rolled, Emily shut her laptop and set it down on her nightstand. "We can go to sleep now...unless you want to do something else." She sent him a suggestive smirk.

"Sleeping sounds good," Percy said much too quickly and climbed off the bed. He unrolled his sleeping bag in between her and Annabeth's bed and laid down in it.

"You can sleep up here with me if you want," Emily suggested, patting the space next to her. "And I mean just sleeping. Nothing else."

Percy shook his head. "No, I'm good."

Emily nodded and shut the lights off, thankful that Annabeth already had hers off. That was certainly not how this night was supposed to go but at least she got to hang out with him. She'd make her move another time but right now she needed to sleep.

-----

Percy waited until he heard Emily's breaths even out. He crawled out of his sleeping bag and climbed up next to Annabeth. "Hey." He pulled a curl behind her ear.

Annabeth smiled and wrapped her arm around his wait. "I didn't know you were sleeping over!" She buried her face in his chest to hide her laughter. "She's going to be so mad when she wakes up."

"Eh, I don't care how heartbroken she is." Percy kissed her. "I don't like when people are mean to you."

"Shut up and hold me."

And that's what he did.

-----

Emily woke up to sunlight seeping through her window and she blinked her eyes open, sitting up. She looked down at the floor but noticed that his sleeping bag was empty. At first, she thought he was in the bathroom but then her eyes froze on the most terrible sight ever.

Percy was not in the bathroom, he was in Annabeth's bed on top of the covers, with Annabeth laying on his chest. She had right right leg thrown over his hips and her arms were wrapped around his neck, her face buried in the crook of it. Percy's right arm was wrapped around her waist while his left hand was resting against the back of her thigh.

What a bitch! Annabeth knew she liked Percy! She knew that Emily wanted to be with him but yet she goes and steals him. What a slut.

Emily stood and angrily pulled Annabeth off of Percy, sending the girl to the floor. She groaned and sat up, rubbing her eyes while Percy sprung up in bed and stared down at Annabeth, a bit of amusement in his seagreen eyes.

"What the hell!" Emily shouted, her eyes stinging.

Annabeth stood and sat back down next to Percy. "What was that for?"

This time it was Emily's turn to laugh humorlessly. "You knew I liked him! You knew the reason I invited him over and you steal him from me! Not just that but you sleep with him!"

"Oh yeah." Annabeth nodded. "Countless of times, actually. And some nights are more intimate than others."

Emily's mouth dropped open and here eyes bugged out of her head. "So, you're cheating on your boyfriend with the guys I like?" She pointed at Percy. "That is the bitchiest thing ever."

Annabeth stares up at her confused. "I'm not cheating on anyone."

"What?" Emily narrowed her eyes.

"You're dense." Annabeth rolled her eyes and Percy laughed beside her. "Percy's my boyfriend, Emily."

Emily laughed. "Yeah right! You just met him this week I bet!" Annabeth stared at her amused. "And Percy, she's Greek! She talks bad about the gods! She's so disrespectful and she claims to have done so much! What a boaster!"

Percy chuckled. "I'm Greek, too. My dad's Poseidon. I talk bad about those asses too. And she has done so much and so have I so you have no right to speak to her that way."

"What do you mean you guys have done so much?" Emily asked, sitting down on her bed. She was only being nice because Percy was there.

"We've been going on quests together since we were twelve," Annabeth started. "We've fought in two wars and we've went through the darkest pit of hell together. I have a reason to be rude to the gods."

Percy smirked. "Ever heard of The Seven?" Emily nodded. "We're Annabeth Chase and Percy Jackson."

Emily's eyes widened. "Oh. I'm sorry, I didn't know. I'm stupid for not figuring that out. You're the famous Percabeth everybody talks about." She rolled her eyes. "Dating for two years and falling into Tartarus together...everyone knows who are."

Annabeth nodded. "That's what my nightmare was about." She stood and offered percy her hand, pulling him up. "Now if you would excuse us, we have a date to go on."

Percy waved to Emily before they left.

Now that was definitely not how she thought her first few days at NRU were going to start out.
