3 -- Jimin's Jealousy
December 29, 2020
Rauma, Finland
Jimin holds the invitation in his fingers and sighs. As soon as the two finished their business in the locker room, which included the message from Arttu about Luna inviting them to an album debut party (for Robin's first international album release). A whole night with Luna. Which also means one with that stuck-up pretty Finnish pop singer, Robin too. He glances up at the clock that is hanging on a side wall.
In the background, an instrumental track is playing to the tune of an international pop song. It is on the last stanza, before it launches out into a faster paced one with words. Jimin nods his head along to the song, humming along.
"You inspire passion, love, hope and joy
In the movement of your hips
As they sway to the rhythm of life
All the blessings from above
Retrieve all of your lost essentials
Cast all your fears aside
Just feel the music inside
As you move into the new
Oh! There's so much for you to do."
Jimin, beginning to feel the rhythm of the music inside of him, as he gets to his feet and sets down the invitation in his hands.
"Dance to the rhythm of life,
Let the wheels turn
Dance around the seasons
Let the fire in you burn
And dance like nobody's watching you."
Jimin twirls around into the kitchen, where Vili Romanen is. He loses the song, letting it fall into a muffle as his attention is averted to his friend. He finds himself standing right before an island in the kitchen.
"Are you ready to go, J?" Vili asks, finally glancing up at him and brushing his long wavy bangs out of his eyes. "I got cookies and sweets made."
Vili is wearing a nice short-collared, button-up, long-sleeved white shirt with a pair of black compression-like pants and a pair of white and black Nike tennis shoes. He has the sleeves rolled up mid-arm for easier cooking ability.
Jimin shakes himself out of the musical trance and plays things cool. He runs a hand through his signature silvery-dyed hair. "I'm not sure if I want to go," he says, stopping at the edge of the countertop and grabbing it with his hands.
"Out on the floor, in the dim-lit periphery,
The agile feelings and emotions
Make moves almost beyond belief--
Like making love, we thought,
And practiced in our minds
The moves our limbs could never learn.
Where time is always standing still
For eternity, to get it right and found
In two tuneless hearts a common beat is born."
"What do you mean?" Vili remarks, covering a plate full of various cookies that include Jimin's favorite triple chocolate ones. "You don't wanna go see Luna? Just yesterday, you were making goo-goo eyes over her."
Jimin blushes slightly. "Nah...I realized she's not my type..." He trails his index finger along the edge of the countertop.
Vili snorts. "Yeah, right." He picks up the plate and puts it into a brown paper bag that has the logo and name of the local supermarket store, Kalevantori, written in fancy bright blue and white lettering.
"It's the truth," Jimin insists.
"Well, the rest of us are going. You might as well tag along. Otherwise, you'll be here alone, wrapped up in your own thoughts. Then you'll start to ponder over whether or not you should have gone--"
"Okay, okay, I get it," Jimin sighs. "I'll go. But don't expect me to, you know, go anywhere near that Robin Nieminen."
Vili snorts. "Someone's jealous much, huh?"
Jimin shoots his friend a playful glare. "No."
"Heel and toe, that is the song we feel inside,
Turn around and curtsey low,
Balance and forward, hands around, swing and twirl again
To the rhythm deep down
Back to back, back to back
Turn to your place again
Now slower, slower now, softer to the music
Lead her away into the winter's night."
Vili smirks to himself. "I know otherwise. I'm your best friend for reasons, J. And I know your feelings inside and out, backwards and forwards."
Jimin leans across the countertop, his eyes sparkling under the neon kitchen lighting. "Let's just go pick up Wolfie and get to the party."
Vili nods. "You driving or me?"
"You know my driving sucks, V." Jimin rounds the countertop as the chorus to the song picks up again:
"Dance to the rhythm of life,
Let the wheels turn
Dance around the seasons
Let the fire in you burn
And dance like nobody's watching you."
Jimin, buzzing with excitement and anxiety, grabs a jean jacket off the hook and quickly puts it on himself.
Vili snatches his car keys off a hook that is hanging on a wall opposite a long rectangular mirror. He then walks out of the door and into the garage, heading toward the car, a black 2017 Honda CR-V.
Meanwhile, Jimin pulls his jean jacket into place, as he spins around in a rhythmic fluidity to the music and then stops, gazing at himself in the mirror that is hanging on the wall to the side. He whisper-sings the chorus to the song as he seductively eyes his own reflection in the glass, pulling his hands around his head in a large swooping motion as though he's a slick-haired boy combing his air in a West Side Story musical.
He takes in his light silvery-blue hair that is styled in a long two-block cut. He specifically chose this style to reflect his uniqueness and personality. Plus the hairstyle just shapes his face and head well and the silver is his favorite color. Though he isn't above dying it other outrageous colors like black, pink, lavender or multicolored.
He also eyes his simple outfit: a loose white tank top that fades into a light blue that matches with his jeans and the jacket. He has on white Puma tennis shoes to complete the boyish look.
"Jimin!" Vili calls from the garage. "Stop flirting with your reflection and get out here!"
Jimin chuckles, flashing his reflection a smile and wink, while he calmly and smoothly licks the tip of his thumb and holds it up. Then he snatches up a pair of clear blue designer glasses and puts them on.
"Jimin, you seduction king, you."
With that, he glances around him, as though checking for an animal that might dart out. Then, satisfied with what he is seeing, he rushes out of the door, closing it behind him. He hops into the passenger seat of the Honda CR-V.
"Sorry, I was making sure that Magnus didn't slip out." Jimin buckles his seatbelt and looks at his friend, who has one hand on the wheel and the other propped up, halfway out the window.
"Magnus is an indoor cat, he knows better," Vili remarks. "At least, I'd hope so. He gets out and no more wet food or pampering." He then releases the brake and lets the car pull out of the garage and onto the driveway.
Vili stops briefly to close the garage door and then pulls out of the driveway and onto the road. "Let's go have some fun!"
