Chapter 6
Fourth day of school!!! Gah! Almost the weekend. Then there's no school. "Hey!" I looked up at Aaron.
"Sorry. I zoned out," I mumbled.
"I could tell. You looked a million miles away," he chuckled. I shrugged, and crossed my arms over my chest.
"So, how do you like Shu- Aphmau so far?" I asked.
"I don't know. I haven't really talked to her... why?"
"Beats me," I shrugged, "I'm just making sure this doesn't get awkward."
"Obviously," he rolled his eyes.
"So anything planned this weekend?"
"Not really. You?"
"No. Wanna meet up at the park or something?" I asked.
"Sounds good," he smiled. I nodded as we headed into school.
"Well, I have to go to my homeroom. I'll see you later," I waved then headed off to class. First hour flew by pretty fast, mostly Zane telling me how sorry he was about yesterday, and me explaining to him that it was fine. The bell rang and I got up, feeling slightly... irritated. Then headed to art. I went over, and sat next to Garroth and Laurance and leaned my head on the table.
"Geez, first hour tired you out already?" Laurance teased.
"Garroth's brother was being super annoying," I mumbled.
"Eh, kinda sounds like Zane," Garroth shrugged.
"Geez, you're a good brother," I rolled my eyes.
"Do you even have any siblings?" Laurance asked. I sighed and traced a bunch of circles in the palm of my hand.
"No. I'm the only child, and I was adopted because my mom can't have kids," I glanced down at my shoes.
"Have you met your biological parents?" Garroth looked a little upset.
"Nah, they don't care about me. Left me on the steps of an orphanage, a little letter saying:
Please take care of this mistake.
Pinned to the blanket I was wrapped in. They've never been my parents. They'll never want to meet me," I picked a piece of lint of my uniform, and tossed it on the floor. I then felt a buzz in my skirt pocket. "Hold on. Cover for me." I said while pulling my phone out.
M- Hey, Doll.
Y- Hey mom. Something wrong?
M- Kinda. Your biological parents want to meet you.
I dropped my phone and fell out of my chair feeling like someone had just knocked the breath out of me. I stared at the ceiling, and tried to breath as it started to shake and blur. I felt someone squeeze my inhaler into my hand, and I shakily forced my hands to use it.
I sat up gasping and quickly ran my hand through my hair angrily.
"Are you okay?" Garroth asked, helping me get to my feet.
"M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-My-"
"Calm down your going to give yourself another panic attack!" Laurance yelled. I took a deep breath, and picked up my phone and put it in my pocket.
"It's nothing," I sighed and sat down, letting myself calm down.
"You sure?" Garroth asked.
"Positive." I nodded.
At the end of the hour I got up to walk to my next class, Gym. "Hey! Wait up!" Garroth yelled. I stopped walking and waited for h to catch up.
"Uh, hey." I shrugged.
"Can I walk you?"
"Why?" I asked.
"Because I feel like I should," he laughed.
"Uh, sure. I guess." I said and started walking towards gym. Garroth and I talked about possibly meeting up this weekend for drawing lessons.
Gym flew by pretty quick. I walked into the locker room to change when someone slammed me into the lockers. "Listen freshman!" It was Ivy. "You stay away from Garroth Ro'Meave!!!"
"What?" I asked.
"Don't play stupid! I know you like him!" She yelled and hit me. I grunted and pushed her off me.
"Maybe I do. So what?" I yelled, even though it wasn't true. She grabbed my hair, and yanked it. Didn't hurt one bit. I slapped her as hard as I could, and she fell over and I quickly changed and ran out of the bathroom. My face stung from when she slapped me. I sighed and rubbed my cheek. Anyway, need to head to Creative Writing.
All my classes were flying by, mostly because I wasn't listening. I was just thinking about what my biological parents were going to be like. "(Y/N)!" Lucinda snapped. I looked up.
"Um, I'm sorry what?"
"It's time for sixth hour. Move your butt!"
"Oh! Right, sorry." I stood up hurriedly, and walked to Werewolf 101. I saw F- Aaron sitting in the back of the classroom, waiting for me. I walked to the back, and threw my books on the table and sat down, quietly, twiddling my fingers. Not even saying hello.
"Are you okay?" Aaron asked. "You seem a little more quiet than usual."
"Just... thinking." I mumbled.
"Well, about what?"
"I-I don't wanna bore you," I glanced at him.
"Well, I'm already bored so whatever's on your mind's gotta be better than what I'm thinking of."
"Huh. Fine. I'm going to go meet my biological parents today after school. It was just really sudden, and I thought they'd never even want to see me."
"Why would you think that?" He asked.
"They left me on the doorsteps of an orphanage with a little note saying: Please take care of this mistake. Why else would I think that?"
"I'm sorry," he mumbled, "I didn't know."
"It's fine." I laid my head on the table. "For all I know they could be murderers." He laughed, and rubbed my back.
"Well, whatever they are I think that they'll love you."
"Will you come with me?" I looked up at him. He seemed a little startled, but nodded after a minute.
"Of course I will," he smiled.
"Thanks." I smiled softly, but he didn't see.
I didn't freak out... weird... something must be changing in me.
Gotta figure it out.
We, being Aaron and I, stood outside of a small restaurant, wearing out "street clothes" as mom put it. He grabbed my hand. "Are you sure you want to do this?" I took a deep breath and nodded.
"Yes." We walked inside, and the whole place was empty aside from a group of workers slacking off and a couple in the corner.
"Do you think that's them?" I asked nodding my head in their direction.
"Beats me," he laughed. He started dragging me over there. "Uh ,hey. Are you guys here to meet your daughter?"
"Uh, yes... why would that concern you, boy?" The man asked.
"Because I'm pretty sure this is her," Aaron smiled, stepping aside so they could see me. They both stood up gasping.
"Andres," the lady whispered. I glanced at Aaron, and moved closer to him, feeling a little uncomfortable.
"Who's Andres?" I asked quietly.
"That's what I named you when you were a baby," the lady smiled.
"Sorry, my name is, (Y/N). Maybe you are the wrong people," I sighed. Aaron wrapped his arm over my shoulder.
"We're you found on the doorsteps of Acrewood Orphanage?" The man asked. I nodded a little uncertain. "That's where we left our baby girl fourteen years ago."
I am fourteen.
I felt a little surge run through my chest, like a panic attack was coming, but I swallowed that feeling down. "I can't do this." I whispered, before running out of the restaurant our to the car where my REAL mom was waiting, and Aaron came running along not too long after. I felt myself taking in deep breaths as he sat next to me in the back. "I can't do this."
"Okay, well let's go home then," my mom frowned.
