Chapter 38

Unedited

"Should we go and rain on that bitch's parade or you guys are going to wait till tomorrow, the earlier the better" Eniola added and Osaze looked up at Osas, "I have a meeting later in the day that I can't cancel"

"Good thing you guys suddenly have a lawyer for a sister. What about you Uju? Do you have plans?"

Obianuju shut her eyes on remembering her plan to go tor a test. "She does have a plan, its less than five days to the next hearing, we don't have time to be postponing things, as it is, we still have a lot of things to achieve. Who's ready to kick some ass cause I am"

"Can you all leave Osas and I alone, please?" He begged and they did.

"What's up? Didnt the programme go well?"

"It did. It was what happened afterwards that had me shocked" "Abeg, don't keep me in suspense, what happened?" "Kubiat called, he told me Tacha was taken in for questioning" "For what?"

"Being seen with a man that deals with drugs, Tacha's doing drugs" he balled his palm placing it against his lips,as tears built up in his eyes. "Jesus... Since when?" "I don't know"

"Didn't you ask her?"

"I bailed and I left"

"Osaze, why?"

He scoffed, "Because I couldn't stand the thought that my sister was using..... I was angry, disappointed, ashamed, I didn't even want to stand close to where she was. I mean.. Why will she pick up such a bad habit? I mean.... What does she need it for?" He asked and Osas scoffed.

"Why didn't you ask her? Na me you come dey ask shey? Look my eyes now, answer they inside"

A confused look spread across Osaze's face, "Are you angry?" He asked and she rolled her eyes, "No! I'm disappointed that you of all people can ask that question, fine, she take drugs, e bad, but the fact that you didn't even care to know why is very annoying."

"Why drugs?"

"When last did you sit with your little sister to know what's going on in her life? When?" Osas asked making Osaze realize he hasn't done that in a while. "Have you ever cared to ask her if she's being frustrated by your Mom? Do you have any idea what she's going through?"

"She's always the one trying to bring us together. She doesn't like the fact we're separated. I don't think she has issues with Mom"

"When last Osaze?"

"The last time I spoke to her was when she and Vera came over.... It's been up to a month"

"Can't you see you're also guilty, how can you just leave that place without hearing her out, its bad. People dey take coke, cannabis, hero because say e dey make them feel better, some people's reasons are not justifiable but if a sweet person like your sister can be taking such. Don't you think she has a reason for it? You should be the last person to talk about bad habits sef, remember one certain person who will wake up at night to drink and scatter the whole house? You had your reason and I didn't judge you, don't judge her without hearing her out"

Osaze nodded as tears poured down his eyes, "You're right" he answered and Osas wiped the tears off with her fingers.  Osaze sniffled, "Look at me being regretfully silly. If you guys want to have a successful entrance into the facility, you might need a warrant. I'll call Kubiat"

Obianuju and Eniola sat on the waiting chair while Omo stared at the both of them. "You know, you two have some resemblance" "What?" They both shouted, "Me resemble this one?" Obianuju asked and Eniola scoffed.

"I don't even want to look like you, if I look like you, I'll spend the rest of my life crying cause I'm not as ugly as you are. Yes big sis,i mean I'm three times prettier than you"

Obianuju glared at her, "Why are you here Eniola?" "To find out the truth if Osas was completely telling the truth." "I'm sure you're just using this as a distraction away from the truth"

"What truth?"

"That your parents didn't tell you the truth all along that you were adopted"

"I didn't tell you that"

"We got the information, Folabi said you were really devastated last night. Don't act like you really care about getting our father out of that place cause I know you don't, you don't care about anyone but yourself, not me, not Osas, not Chike but yourself. Cause you're a selfish person Eniola, that's who you are!"  She snapped and Eniola scoffed, "Wow, so many hate coming from you"

"Trust me Eniola, its not as worse as yours, I'm sure you're only pretending right now. Soon your true colors will start to show"

Osas got out of the office and Eniola rose up, "Thank God! Can we go already? This place was already getting stuffy."

Kubiat stopped his car in front of a company and Ejiro walked in. "I'm sorry for being late, I was held up" "Good afternoon" she greeted kissing him on the lips, "Good afternoon" he replied and she noticed he wasn't too happy, "What's up? Are you okay?" She asked and he shrugged.

"How was your interview?"

"It was fine, there was no interview, the man said and I quote, Kubiat's my tight friend, I owe him my life, when he told me about you, I just had to say yes. Congratulations Miss Ejiro, you have the job" she paused and he smiled.

"Timothy and I we go way back and he owes me one"

Ejiro smiled, "Thank you. The pay is good too" "I'm glad you like it." "Yeah.... You're not okay Babe, don't lie to me that you are" "I was having a shitty day before I saw you" "Awwwwn, what happened?"

"First, i was taken off the case" "What? Why?" "They said I'm incompetent and inefficient"

"Ouch"

"Trust me Baby, that wasn't the painful part, its the big head they brought to replace me that actually offed me completely" "Ehya, you don't like the guy?"

"Kenneth doesn't have pity on anyone, he's hot headed, no regards for family members and with Tacha involved in this case, i'm just worried that something bad will happen, this is the guy that even if you're begging him, he won't bulge" "Secondary classmates?"

"From neighbouring schools, we've known each other from way back. I finally told Osaze about Tacha's addiction, the guy was angry oh" "At you?" "No. At his sister, he didn't even look at her twice before leaving"

Briggs law firm

Mrs Badmus cried while Morenike tried putting a call through to Eniola. "It's still switch off" "See! She blocked me, blocked her father, blocked her brother, when we started using other numbers, she switched off her phone, since morning till now, we haven't heard of her, I went over to Jemima's place but I couldn't find her there. I don't know where else to look, I don't know if she's okay and all I want to do is console her and tell her that I'm sorry. I just want to hear my baby's voice"

Morenike dropped the phone exhaling loudly. "You're not saying anything Morenike" "What should I say? I'm still in shock, Janet I followed you to that woman's house, I saw Eniola when her teeth were barely complete, I watched her grow and now finding out she's a sister to this same girl ... This same girl, my son is in love with, this same girl whom your son raped 15 years ago, this same girl I'm fighting against in court."

Mrs Badmus clasped her hands, "I'm scared, I'm really scared of what will happen, we all know Eniola isn't the kind to forgive easily. She hold grudges" "You could have told her when I told you you to" "Like you told your husband about Osaze testifying against that girl fifteen years ago. I'm sure apart from that, you have your own deep dark secrets, some secrets are just necessary!"

Psychiatric hospital

A male nurse opened up the door to George's room, "Good day to you" he greeted and he hissed in disappointment. "Where is Agatha?" "Nurse Agatha is tending to other patients, it's a rotating duty. A particular nurse can not be Nnm to you."

"I don't want visitors, I'd rather stay here"

"I'm sorry Sir,  I have orders to take you out to recess room and I'm not leaving until I do"

"George of this jungle!" Mr Taye exclaimed while George wheeled himself towards him,"Mr Taye" "You're owing me my newspaper from yesterday"  "I'm sorry Mr Taye, I had to borrow it for something really important"

"To clean your buttocks shey? You know I always preferred to use the newspaper to wipe my buttocks"

George shut his eyes, that information was really not necessary! "Especially when it has the face of a politician I don't like. I'll just say, kick my ass and then I'll wipe my buttocks clean of every feaces"

"Jesus Christ Mr Taye! Too much information" he snapped and the man busted into laughter. George's eyes fell on the newspaper on the table, "What's new on the Osas Ovbiokpomwan's case?"

Mr Taye held the paper close to his chest, "You think I'll give you again?" "Just let me know the latest update" "Well...turns out she's also madder than me. She testified in court that a ghost gave her the information that Chief Akinola is the criminal. How can a person talk to ghost?"

"Ese could"

"Who's Ese?"

"My second wife"

"I must speak to nurse Agatha, have you seen her today?"

"Yes."

"Where?"

"In my dreams today" he moved closer to him, "She was trying to give me those drugs but I turned her into a watermelon. It's funny what you can do to anybody in your dreams" he cackled and George shook his head at how Mr Taye manages to switch from being Insane to being sane!

Nurse Agatha walked in looking around in search for George and Mr Taye noticed her, "There she is" he pointed and George turned his head at her, a smile crept across his cheeks so he quickly wheeled himself close to her. "Good afternoon Sir" "Good afternoon Nurse Agatha" he greeted and she looked around at another nurse behind before facing him once again.

"Sir, I don't think it's fair for you to be here when you're not crazy"

"Ah I see, what finally changed your mind?"

"I spoke to my boss"

George's face fell, "What did you tell him?" "Don't be scared, I didn't say much. My conversation with him made me give you the benefit of the doubt then I called your friend as you asked me to"

"Any news?" He asked and she nodded squatting in front of him, "He called a while ago to tell me he met with your daughter this morning and your guess was right, the girl on the newspapers, she's your daughter Sir"

George nodded joyfully, "Give this message to Matthew, tell him he mustn't let my wife know he has found her, she might try to harm her" "I'll let him know"  "And if he could let me see a picture of her, I'll be delighted."

"I will"

Chief walked into Morenike's office with his PA and two body guards. "I'll like to be left alone with Chief" she requested and they stood still. "That wasn't a request, it was a order, can you all get the hell of out my office?" She requested and Chief gave them the order to leave.

"There was no need for all of that"

"What do you want Chief?"

"To know the way forward, I don't want to go to prison oh" "Yet you met my son to bribe him, worst you didn't tell me, how could you be stupid enough to bribe my son, of all people"  "Watch your tongue woman!" Chief snapped, "You're not paid to chastise me"

Morenike raised her brow, "Excuse you?" "Yes, you are not paid to chastise me. See, I did what I thought was necessary, what I thought could hasten things" "And you didn't deem it fit inform me first or even after meeting him"

"Wo, all these things you're saying, its past tense"

"You might have to find another lawyer, I'll do well to return the money to you"

"Ah! Morenike's Briggs, ko le to yen nah (It hasn't gotten to that level yet). Oya, I'm sorry. I promise never to do something like that again" "It was reckless! Do you have any idea how stupid I felt when Osaze mentioned that thing, we were already on the winning side until that evidence came up. Why else will you try to bribe the prosecuting attorney if you're not guilty of the charges? Was there a real attempt to rape Osas? Yes or no?"

"It was just a play thing, I just held her hands so we can reason things, you know my current was already high. I caught the current when I saw her and I was just trying to negotiate something when she injured me. It's not rape, in fact I became the victim myself"

"Are you or are you not a ritualist? I need to know"

"I am not a ritualist. I am a noble politician, yes I have my faults but then again I am not guilty of the murder charges levelled against me. There was a political event among my friends and i like I told you, those ushers they left. Wo lo! (They left). This is a political plot, why will we use them for rituals? You can ask my friend Oyetunji Lateef, the caretaker of the house. I am innocent"

"That's what I'm trying to prove, you have to work with me here. The court thinks you weren't there, whether there was a political event or not, you weren't aware and we must maintain that. Was there any footage that day that can prove otherwise? I don't want surprises"

"No phones were allowed in, pa pa, even to take pictures was not allowed, no video, nothing nothing"

Osas' word immediately replayed in her head.

Chief Akinola kept on speaking but all Morenike could see was him opening and closing his mouth, she was lost in her own thoughts with Osas' voice constantly replaying in her head.

"You said they weren't allowed to take pictures?"

"It was a low key event so, there was no point. My suggestion is that what if Oyetunji comes to represent me as witness?" "Witnessing to what? You weren't there right? How do you explain the fact you know him"

"He'll be testifying to the fact that maybe there was an event oh but I didn't participate in it. After all he'll be acting as the owner of the building. I need to clear my name sharp sharp, my campaign is going to start soon and I want my name cleared as soon as possible"

"It's a brilliant idea but it can be worked upon"

"Mo sha so (I said it!) You know erm, I suggested that what if,i like.... Like i catch your son and his fiance now like kidnap him and we threatened him that if he doesn't renounce himself as the prosecuting attorney that....we'll kill his fiance"

Morenike laughed and he laughed too, "Shebi it's making sense" he added and she continued laughing and he joined it to. "What is left is to give the order to my boys" "Are you usually this reckless?" She asked, her tone laced with anger.

"You don't buy the idea?"

"What kind of a mother do you take me for? You think because I'm going against my own son, I'll agree to you kidnapping him. Think again Chief cause if you mess with my children, if anyone messes with my children, or touch a strand of hair on their skin, I'll destroy them" she threatened and Chief cleared his throat.

"That was just a suggestion"

"No hard feelings Chief, I was just proving a point. We already have your wife and your workers ready to testify to you being at home that night. If Osaze manages to bring up any other evidences that proves that Osas was involved in something terrible in that building, we'll then try to shift blame since the testimony of your wife and workers will prove that you were at home that day. The headline will be, something happened but it wasn't you that was involved."

"What about Oyetunji? Won't he be blamed?"

Morenike exhaled, "He rented the building for an event, and if he's asked to provide names of whoever he rented the place to, he'll provide the names, this is Nigeria, there'll be no way to actually track those people, in order words, case closed."

Chief Akinola smiled, "God bless the day I met you, ah! You make me have confidence in my future,wo, let this matter just pass, you will enjoy me " "If I realize you in anyway lied to me, or you try to do something stupid behind my back to rub my name in the mud or you try to harm my son, I swear to God Chief Akinola Bello, I'll make you regret the day you met me. Do I make myself clear?" she threatened and Chief swallowed a big lump in his throat.

"Yes"

Life crown Psychiatric hospital

Osas, Obianuju and Eniola walked into Dr. Alade's office and a smile curled up his cheeks; more customers! "Erm... Good afternoon ladies" he greeted and Osas quickly took a seat and Eniola did too.

Obianuju glanced at her and so she rolled her eyes getting up for her to seat on.

Dr. Alade quickly took a long wooden stool pulling it close to Eniola  to seat. "Please make yourself comfortable. You ladies are welcome to Life crown psychiatric hospital a place where we care about the mental health of our patients, highly recommendable, tested and trusted"

"You don't say" Obianuju chipped in sarcastically and he smiled.

"I don't like swearing but I swear, we are trusted a s reliable. Are you ladies sisters?" He asked and Osas nodded,

"Yes we are"

"Wow, you all look beautiful"

"Thank you doctor" Eniola replied, "So what brought beautiful ladies to this humble facility?"  "Well we're here because of our father." Osas began and Eniola quickly picked it up, "Exactly as my eldest sister just said we're here because of our annoying father" she began while Obianuju and Osas tried to maintain their cool and act like they knew what she was doing.

"Is he crazy in the head"

"No he isn't, trust me, we wish he was. If he was, it would have been easy to dispose of him. Our father is a wealthy man, his wealth can't be shared unless he's either dead or indisposed. It's becoming very very annoying"

"How old is he?"

"76"

"Ah! That one is old enough to for someone to have a burial for. Why don't.... Why don't this is not professional but why can't you just make the work easy for him? I mean since he's that old"

Eniola grinned, "We don't want to get our hands bloody so we want to keep him here, your work has come to our hearing and you're highly recommended" she chipped in and he laughed.

"We know he's not crazy but can you help us keep him locked up here and we'll want legal documents that proves his crazy, can you do that?" Obianuju chipped in finally getting Eniola's point.

"Exactly" She chipped in and Dr. Alade smiled. "Yes I can but... but.... It's very expensive. I don't charge normal money for those kinds of services oh"

"Like how much are we talking of?" Eniola asked and Osas rolled her eyes, "Its okay, abeg I no wan hear again, the matter dey irritate me for hear. Which kain person you be sef? She asked and he raised his brow in shock.

" I don't understand, doesn't she agree with the plan?"

"Well, see, I'm the wicked one, these ones are nice, didn't even know of this plan"

"My office won't be turned into a place where you higgle arrangements whether your father should be brought in or not. I advise you all go home and think this through"

Eniola laughed, "Think what through?" "Whether your father should be brought in or not" "Sorry, I kind of made that up"  "Are you sure you're not the crazy one? Maybe you should try Yaba left"

"Ehn hen, it's yaba right ni" Obianuju replied, "Leave him, when I'm done with him, he won't even have a place to live In, even Yaba left will shut their doors against him!"

Dr. Alade rose up, "Oya ladies, please leave my office" he begged and Eniola played a recording on her phone.

We know he's not crazy but can you help us keep him locked up here and we'll want legal documents that proves his crazy, can you do that? Obianuju's voice resounded from her phone

"Exactly"

"Yes I can but... but.... It's very expensive. I don't charge normal money for those kinds of services oh"

Dr Alade suddenly felt hot, "Are you ladies from the management board? You are here investigating shey?" He asked bringing out his credit card, "You should have just said something instead of going undercover. So you guys have POS or why I don't I do transfer?" He took out his phone from his pocket and Osas scoffed.

"You have no idea the trouble you're in right? We don't want your money"

"What do you want?"

"Our father" she answered and a confused look spread through his face, "You ladies are confusing me the more" "Our father George, we have proof that you have him wrongfully locked up in this facility"

Dr. Alade creased his brow, "I don't have any George here" "Its like you don't know what's at stake here doctor, your life is on the line, your profession so you had better start talking"  "I don't know the George you are referring to now!" He answered and Matthew walked in looking at him.

"Mr Matthew" he called out looking at Eniola, "Are you with them?"  He asked and Matthew smiled.

"I'm sure he now remembers the George we're talking about?" Eniola chipped in and his eyes widened in shock, "So you all are his children from the other...." He trailed off and swallowed hard.

He quickly took his seat before he slumps from being in shock. He picked up a handkerchief on the floor wiping the sweat off his face. "Esther na God go punish you" he muttered under his breath.

He lifted up his eyes, "Let's negotiate, you want your father right? I'll give him to you but on one condition, you'll leave me alone. I had no say in this, it was Esther that manipulated me"

"Fine, bring him here" Eniola answered. Osas and Obianuju glared at her and she gave them that grin that meant, relax, I'm just teasing the man.

"Thank you. God bless you," he took his phone calling on Nurse Agatha. "Please bring in Mr George into my office with immediate effect"  he demanded hanging up.

"Thank you ladies for being kind, it wasn't my fault, it was the devil"

"This devil son suffer!" Osas laughed walking towards the door, she opened it for two policemen to walk in, "Abeg come arrest this man before I vex pass I as I dey vex so"

Dr Alade cried, "I thought we agreed..." "Who told you had the right to negotiate?" Obianuju asked and he turned towards Eniola. "Oga, she been dey use you catch cruise, Dr. Alade, abi wetin dem call you, you are under arrest"

"Anything you do or say will be used against you in the court of law" Obianuju continued, "You have the right to consult an attorney before speaking to the police and have an attorney present during questioning, now or in the future but even if you consult one, you'll lose and I'll make sure of it. I'll also make sure you don't practice anywhere as long as you're in Nigeria. You messed with the wrong family"

"I am begging you, I have a family"

"Which kain suwegbe police be this sef, arrest person jhoor!" Osas yelled and the man approached Dr Alade. "You have the right to" "Shuu, Oga police?" She added and the man cuffed him taking him out of the police and the ladies busted into laughter.

"Na wa oh, wetin musa no go see"

Nurse Agatha walked up to Dr. George and Mr Taye, "Sir, Dr Alade asked that you be brought into his office"  "I'm not in the mood to see anyone, much less Esther. I'm sure its Esther, let him know that since I can't have visitors, I have decided not to receive visitors for the rest of year"

"Sir"

"Do you have hearing problem nurse Agatha?" He asked and she shook her head making her way through the direction of the office only to notice a male nurse placing both hands on his head.

"What's going on?"

"They just arrested Dr. Alade"

"Haba! Dr. Alade that just called me now" "Go outside now, if you'll still meet up with the police" "Its a lie, he just called me to bring a patient to his office"

"Then go to his office now, why did you bother to ask me sef?" He snapped leaving and she gently walked into his office where Matthew, Osas, Obianuju and Eniola expected to see George being wheeled in.

"I'm sorry, but where is Dr Alade?"

"Nurse Agatha?" Matthew called out, "Its me Mr Matthew, these are George's children, Osas, Edosa and Uwa. Where is he?"

Nurse Agatha returned back to him smiling, "Sir, you have a visitor" "Oooh ooooh!!! You this nurse! I said I don't want to see Esther" "Its not Esther" she said looking at the four of them who were behind him. He turned the wheel chair towards their direction and his gaze fell upon them.

Tears ran down Osas eyes from seeing his face, "Papa" she called out pressing a hug against him "Osarieme" he called out patting her as tears ran down his eyes.  Obianuju wrapped her arms around him from behind and he smiled.

"Uwa"

"You're leaving this place, we're leaving"

Tears of joy streamed down George's face, he felt like he was in heaven! If it was a dream, he didn't want to wake up from it! He didn't even see the possibility of meeting them, much less leaving the clinic that day.

Osas and Obianuju moved away then he looked towards Eniola's direction. "AbieYuwa" he stretched his arms and she leaned in embracing him.

She pulled back and Matthew bowed his head, "Good to have you back" "Thank you old friend, at least it's good to know I still have someone I can trust. Where's that stupid doctor?" He asked, "He has been arrested" Osas answered.

"I have been reserving one punch for him, he can't just go scot free like that" he chipped in then Matthew laughed. "You will not reserve the strength for your chair" he said and George glared at him.

"Let's go home, we need to have that woman arrested"

"Yes we do" Eniola agreed, "Maybe you should reconsider George, she's the mother of your children, what will Ernest say about this?" "Reconsider what? Did she reconsider me as the father of her children before throwing me into this hell home? No! We're having her arrested for the safety of my children and that's my final answer"

"Matthew"

"F-I-N-A-L, final answer!" He snapped wheeling himself Osas rushed to help him." Matthew, you had better call the damn police right now!"  He added and Matthew shook his head, "This your father is hot blooded and harsh!"

Eniola turned towards Obianuju smiling, "At least I know where I got that part from"

George's Home

"Can't I just speak to him over the phone? I mean Dad" Ernest reqested over the phone and Esther rolled her eyes, "Sweetheart, your father isn't well enough, he has even gotten worst. Dr Slade advised that I desist from seeing him for a while. He has been confined to his room, and chains"

Ernest scoffed, "Its that bad?" "Yes my dear" she answered and the door bell rang, "There's someone at the door, Mudiame!" She shouted, "Mudia! All these village girls ehn" "Mom are you sure you didn't send her on her on an errand? You love doing that"

Esther slapped her face, "You're right" she rose up sauntering towards the door, "So my dear, that's how it is oh, you father's situation has had me worried." She opened the door to see George on a wheel chair along with Osas, Obianuju Eniola and Matthew.

"George?" She asked, "Did you just call Dad's name? Why will you .."

Esther ended the call then she moved back. Ernest called back but she declined the call. She dialed Dr. Alade's number. It rang all to no avail!

"Let me guess, you were calling the doctor right?" George wheeled in and everyone followed him In.

"How did you get out without my knowledge?"

"I'm sorry to inform you but your doctor has been arrested thanks to my children here"

Esther shook her head unbelievably, "It can't be" "Why? You thought I wouldn't see them someday before I die? Esther, na God don catch you. Police, please arrest this woman."

The police moved close to her so she screamed moving backwards, "Wait! George, let's reason this thing" "Like you reasoned with me before you did everything you did" "It's your fault! I loved you, I was so In love with you but you cheated! You kept on cheating and cheating on me! I did what I did because it was necessary "

"Necessary to charm him?" Obianuju' asked and Esther batted her eyes at her then she busted into Bini, "Will you keep quiet there!" "Why should she?" Osas asked in Bini, "She asked the right question, couldn't you have done something else?"

"Like what?" She busted into English, "Have you ladies ever been in love? It makes you do the craziest things. Don't blame me for wanting my husband for myself" she cried, "Okay I admit our mother was wrong" Osas lifted her hands up but George had to cut her off.

"Ese didnt know from the start, when she got to know, there was nothing she could do about it. We already had three beautiful children. I was the guilty one and I apologised to her, I was going to legalise my marriage to your mother, then the accident happened. The last thing I remember was trying to reach out to Ese to let her know of the accident and then twenty years later, I'm wondering what happened after that. Esther, I am not sorry for meeting the most amazing woman in the world and I am not sorry for having my children, what I'm sorry for is hurting you"

"I'm not sorry for causing that accident, I'm not sorry for charming you, I thought it'll make you smarter but it only made you more foolish!"

"Can someone please put this woman on a leash, there's no point being savage. You're angry, we are angrier, because of you, our mother gave us away and we were separated." Eniola finally spoke up,  "What do I care whether you guys were separated or not? Whether you died or not?"

She scoffed, "You're very mad and you should have your brains checked out cause you deserve to be that mad home instead of him!" She pointed at George and Esther clapped her hands, "So you all want to gang up against me. I will just charm all of you"

"Oh i dare you to." Osas charged towards her then she busted into Bini, "Try it and see what will happen. I go show you say that your Ishan witch no near my own!"

Esther shrugged now staring at George, "Shebi you don bring your children make them come fight me for my own house" "My house. You're not even remorseful for what you did" "Why will I be? My only regret, quote me, my only regret was not killing your precious Ese and her bastard children!"

"What are you waiting for policeman? Arrest her immediately!"  He barked and the policeman held her hands backwards took her phone from her then he cuffed her hands, "You're under arrest Madam, you have the right to stay silent, anything you do or say will be used against you in the court of law"

"Policeman, this man isn't well, he just got out of a psychiatric hospital"

"Madam, move"

"You're very stupid George if you think you can arrest me, for crying out loud, I'm the mother of your children!"

"Take her away!"

Two hour later

George sat on his bed holding on to two pictures, that was taken in 1994, Osas was five years old, look at the way she was holding that cabin biscuit, if you wanted to bribe her that year, all you just need is biscuit  and she'll just get distracted " he analysed and they all chuckled.

"Edosa was three and Uwa, our cry baby was just six months, and I'm sure Efe was already forming in the womb when we took this picture." He exhaled in reminiscence.

"Your mother was a sweet woman who didn't deserve me but she was my world"

"How did you meet her?"

"I was a big boy, I was working in the navy, I was cruising and swimming in my parent's wealth: Living the life then my parents planned an arranged marriage between Esther and I. They said it will give me some sense of focus but I wasn't really interested in the marriage. The following year, I wanted to buy a piece of land in Benin because my father wanted me to come stay in Benin with my wife. It was during my search I found your mother, the most prettiest thing I ever laid eyes on, I trailed her for more than a month, I kept on coming back until she finally agreed. I felt likw the happiest man in the world. What I was doing was wrong but with her, it felt right. I had to call off all plans to build in Benin, I didn't want my cheating escapade catching up with me. I actually thought the distance was okay, Esther couldn't have kids but with your mother, i came back only to find out she was pregnant with you Osas, you were the second best thing that happened to me after I met your Mother. I know you all have a life, adopted parents but I'll beg for a little time to get to know you all better "

Osas leaned against his shoulder while Mathew walked in with Chike. "I'm sorry I'm late, I was dealing with...." He trailed off looking at George and Eniola. "Efe?" George whispered and Osas nodded.

Eniola rose up walking towards him, "We haven't officially met but I'm Eniola Badmus, technically AbieYuwa Ov... Ovbi...something" Chike laughed, "I'm Chike, you're not alone, I can't seem to pronounce the name well"

"Ovbiokpomwan!" Osas and her father yelled and Eniola laughed, "Try saying that ten times faster" "Ovbiokpomwan, Ovbiokpomwan, ovbiokpion..." Osas trailed off and everyone laughed.

"It's nice to meet you lil bro" she kissed him on the cheeks and Chike smiled now staring at his father. "Good afternoon Sir"  "What a fine young man you grew up to be, the child I didn't even see" he stretched out his hands, "Come and give you father a big hug"

Chike embraced him and tears streamed down their eyes, it was a really emotional sight. Osas had to look away to wipe her tears off her face.

Chike pulled away and George chuckled, "It's like looking at a spitting image of myself when I was young, one advise my daughters, when you want to get married, pick someone pretty with a pretty behaviour too, you'll give birth to masterpieces. All my children are beautiful"

"Of course I'm the prettiest" Eniola raised her hand and Obianuju scoffed. "Prettiest indeed!"

Evening

Probers newspapers company

A young guy walked up to Folabi while he was having a conversation with female colleague. "Someone is here for you oh, it's Eniola Badmus, I'm sure she's finally here to sue" he whispered and Folabi chuckled. "I guess that's my cue to go home. Bye guys, see you tomorrow" he excused himself dipping his laptop and notebook into his school bag then he walked to the lobby where Eniola was seated reading a newspaper with her legs crossed.

"When Elijah told me you're here, I had to see it for myself"

Eniola dropped the newspapers then she rose up, "Good evening to you" "Good evening to you too. How are you doing now? I hope you're over the anger" "It's not easy to, I'm still very much angry with my parents. I still haven't returned the calls" "That's unfair"

"So it was fair for them to hide the truth from me. Why are you always acting so righteous. Why am I even here?" She asked and he nodded, "Good question cause I was going to ask anyways, I guess there's no point now. Good night Eniola" he walked out of the door and Eniola rolled her eyes.

"Wait" she muttered then she ran after him, "Folabi wait!" "What?" He asked turning back and she exhaled, "I came because I spoke to Osas and I realize, she's not lying for real and .... I kind of for the first time understand why you're here. It wasn't my sister that was murdered, its yours and it must have hurt"

He looked away blinking his tears, "I haven't really lost any one close but I'm sure it'll must hurt like a bitch and it's your sister's head that was cut off" "Jesus Eniola, the graphics" he warned. "I'm sorry. When Osas said it, I just wondered how she wasn't scarred from seeing such a thing"

"Osas is a brave woman"

Eniola sniffled, "To think I came here chastising you" "You didn't know, you were blinded" "By hate and I'm sorry for those things I said" tears poured down her eyes. "How are you coping? I would have been devastated!" "When Chief Akinola Bello and his cohorts  pays for their crime, it'll be worth it! Why are you  even crying?" "I'm coming from my birth father's house, today has been really emotional for me. I'm sorry"

Folabi chuckled, "I love this part of you, you've apologised like six times already" "You're exaggerating" she replied and they both chuckled.

"What you were saying inside about the.... What was your point?" "When has my point ever mattered?"

"Just tell me what you have in mind. I'm sure you have a lot to say"

"Your parents, they were wrong for hiding the truth about your adoption from you but they don't deserve this attitude, you should be grateful to them. If you're so angry at them, why can't you just speak to them at least, let them know you're angry, stop acting childish and obnoxious. I know you're a spoilt brat but at least be mature enough to see the truth here and that is if those people never adopted you, you may not have had it all"

Eniola exhaled, "I'm sorry" "I'm not the one you need to apologise to, its your parents" "They offended me" "They're your parents, you're expected to apologise to them, the sooner the better" "I deserve a week break from them"

"You still don't get it because you're immature"

Eniola rolled her eyes, "I'm not immature then prove it" "I'll apologise to my parents" "Okay, When?" "Tomorrow" "Lies, that's too easy" "I promise to" "And I'll make sure you'll keep to that promise"

"How? Will you follow me home?"

"If possible"

Eniola sniggered, "You won't" "We won't know until tomorrow" "Where are you going to?" "My hotel room" "Let me drop you off" she volunteered and he scoffed, "You have mind" he shook his head walking away and she laughed to herself.

"Don't be ashamed or you can drive, anyone you prefer"

Tacha knocked on the door and Osaze opened up, "You called for me" "Yes I did, get in" he replied and she did. Vera was seated on the couch. "You told her" "She's your elder sister and you need all the help you can get" he closed the door and she crossed her arm.

"I thought you were angry"

"Yes I was angry and disappointed, I still am but you're family and if I push you away, it won't make me different from your mother"

"Tacha, we are here to support you but you just have to be honest with us"

"Give me your bag" Osaze requested grabbing her bag, he checked her bag and he found drugs in it. "It wasn't there when Kenneth search" "It was with Chike"

"So he gave it back to you, does he do drugs?"

"No! I took that from home" she answered and Osaze left with it and she shut her eyes.

"Why did you choose this path Tacha? Was it because of Mom?" Vera asked and she shrugged unsure of what to say, Osaze came back frowning. "I can't talk yet, it's complicated. If I say it you'll all get angry and blow this up and I don't want to make it public"

He rubbed his fingers on his forehead to nurse his headache, "Were you raped by someone?" He asked, "The characteristics you're exhibiting, you're acting like someone raped you" "I'm fine! I just want to be left alone and just hear myself think"

"No one is giving you that chance cause it's those kind of traits that encourages you to use drugs, that moment when you start listening to those stupid voices in your head! Tacha, I'm taking you to my house, you'll be spending the night away from home, no drugs!"

Chike struck a note on the guitar, "So... I'm taking my time to sing this song to this special person who might not have given me life but made my life meaningful" He looked up at Madam Davina,   "I know this isn't mother's day but It's not too late to celebrate your mother. Mom I'm sorry for being angry and I just want to say I'm sorry" he played the guitar softly.

Obianuju got out of the bathroom in her nighties still going on and on about everything that had happened earlier on. "To think he would have been sleeping in that horrible place if we didn't interfere"

"It's not a small James Bond something" Raymond replied and she chuckled. "The wife is just crazy, can you believe she said if she knew she would have killed us"

"You're repeating it for the third time now"

"Sorry, but it's very annoying!" "What will now happen to the remaining patients at the psychiatric hospital now that the owner is not around" "There must be other doctors, I have no idea what will happen but I agree that that man be allowed to pay for his sins or else lessons won't be learnt"

Raymond, "True" he replied and she smiled laying in bed, "Today seems so complete" "Huh huh" he rolled over her kissing her lips then he slowly kissed her belly. "I can't wait for you to be out so I can spoil you with kisses"

Obianuju laughed, "What are you doing?" "Why are we shying away from the obvious picture in the room" "What obvious picture" "Our baby" he answered.

She rolled her eyes now sitting up, "Baby," "Nuju, I've noticed the growth, I think you're pregnant" "I'm not sure and I don't want to raise your hope. I'm not even having symptoms yet. I was planning on having a test done today but I became too busy"

"You've missed your period for two months"

Obianuju gasped in surprise, "I'm still expecting" "What about your boobs?"
"Maybe because I put on a little weight, it happens."

Raymond faced her tummy, "I don't care what Mummy says cause I know you're there, even though you're not there, you'll be there someday. Just know that Daddy loves you and he can't wat to kiss you someday" he kissed her tummy then he went ahead to kiss her lips.

Eniola folded her legs fidling with her phone while Jemima unwrapped her gifts, "Mehn, na wa oh," Queen said taking a video, "Birthday gifts are flowing in a day after Jemmy's birthday. My birthday is next month, 28th of November is the date, keep a date with that date please ehn" she stopped the video.

"This is going straight to WhatsApp, of they born these guys well they should not show me love"

"Internet beggy beggy" Jemima laughed, "Internet beggy beggy" Queen mimicked, "My birthday must be lit oh" she added turning towards Eniola.

"Babe what's up, you've been quiet, are you thinking about the drama in your life or what?"

"How obnoxious am I?"

"Huh?"

" I mean if you guys are to grade my level of being obnoxious, where will you grade mine?"

"7/10. You're a drama queen" Jemima answered and Queen laughed,  "Don't mind this one jhoor, you're not obnoxious, who says you are? Is it that stupid Folabi?"  Queen asked, "Why are you calling him stupid now?"

"Isn't that what you always call him?"

"So if I put one foot in the fire, you'll do same. Even if I call him stupid, it doesn't give you the right to call him stupid, if there's anyone that had the right to call him stupid, it's me, not you. He's smarter than you a hundred times" she snapped and Jemima laughed.

"Wait... Enny, me?"

"No me, why are you always daft like this ehn?"

Jemima had to intervene knowing the drama Queen will only burn Queen alive with abuses that won't be nice! "Enny its okay! There's no point for quarrel"

"Madam, they did not put your mouth there oh" Queen snapped and Jemima gasped, "What did I do do" "Ma bi mi! (Ask me!) As if you're not happy that we're fighting when it's always the two of you that's always fighting"

Jemima laughed, "How does this concern me?" "I'm sure you've been saying things behind my back to make me look bad in front of Eniola" "Babe, I have better things to talk about than you"

"Backbitters" She snapped picking up her bag, "Let me leave before they kill me with insults" she moved toward the door then she turned her head towards Eniola. "So you're not going to stop me?"

"Should I come and open the door for you?" Eniola asked and Queen scoffed, "See her head! Obnoxious human being" "I'm pretty sure you don't what the word obnoxious means, ode! (Stupid)"

"Sioor"

"Bye, don't let the door hit you hard!" She snapped and Queen walked out of the room slamming the door and Jemima laughed, "I'll kukuma hold you if the door breaks. Wonders will never cease in this Nigeria, anyways I know it's just initial gragra, we'll still come back together. But seriously Eniola, what's eating your ass?"

She shrugged busting into tears, "Its just something Obianuju said. She hates me, even after everything we went through today, she still hates me" "You hated her too"

"I know" she sniffled wiping her tears off, "Today I finally realised how big a bitch I've been and I hate the feeling, I hate it so much"

Jemima hugged her.

The next morning

Tacha knelt before the toilet vomiting into it the she walked into the room to see Vera. "Hey" "Good morning" she greeted, her hands trembling. She needed to use but she had none there. Part of her wished she got some back from Chike.

"Are you okay?" Vera asked and she nodded, "Yes. I need to go home to get my stuff" "I already called Nana last night, she'll send someone" "I don't want anyone going through my stuff"

Vera scoffed, "Because there's drugs right? That's your initial intention bah? To go and get the drugs, Tacha, it's not worth it"  " My hands,my fingers, my whole body is shaking, I haven't stayed this long without it. I just need a little, I swear, just a little and then I can start rehab proper"

"Won't you still need a little still?"

Tacha cried, "I don't like the way I'm feeling" "I'm sure you don't feel okay but It'll be fine. Slow and steady wins the race and we're going to win this one!" Vera held on to her hand.

George opened his eyes looking up at the ceiling, it was the ceiling in the psychiatric ward, instead he was in his own house, he recalled the previous day and he chuckled.

His nightmares were over! He can finally be happy knowing his children are close to him.

Osas who slept over walked in dressed in the same cloth from the previous day, "Good morning Papa" "Morning Osarieme" he answered turning his head at him. "Please help me up" he demanded and she lifted him so he could sit up.

"I made breakfast"

"I don't want anything from Esther's kitchen"

"I wasn't also comfortable so I got eggs from across the street, I made bread and egg sauce, I hope you'll like it" "I'm sure I'll like anything you cook" he replied and she laughed.

"Papa, there's someone I'll like you to meet. Osaze come in, and he's doing shy, shy!" She shouted and he walked in bowing his head. "Good morning Sir" "Good morning. So you're the man that has been there for her, in just a night, I have heard wonderful things about you"

Osaze smiled looking at her and she chuckle, "Papa, don't swell his head, he's just exaggerating" "I'm sure he wasn't. You adore me and you can't even deny it" "Na true, him head don swell" George agreed and Osas nudged her father on the arm, "Shebi I tell you, moral don High"

"I swear" he replied and they both laughed looking at Osaze who felt like he was being attacked.

"It's nice to meet you Sir" he stretched his hands and George shook him. "And you too. God bless you greatly for taking care of my daughter, she deserves the best and I'm happy she found you and I'm sorry for stealing her away from you last night. I'm sure the bed was lonely" he answered leaving him speechless.

George's phone rang and he quickly answered it. "What's it I'm hearing about my mom being arrested?" He asked and he kept quiet. "I had her arrested" "Why? It doesn't make sense."

"It's not something to discuss on phone"

"I'll call you when I get to Lagos"

Folabi knocked on Jemima's door and Eniola opened up, "What are you doing here?" "To make sure you keep to your end of the promise" "What stupid promise? I have plans for the day, I'll be meeting with Morenike"

"Get dressed, we're meeting your parents first. I had that feeling you'll change you mind"

"I'll go later in the evening"

"No! Get dressed"

"Folabi"

He glared at her, "Young lady, don't waste my time, I still have to go to work."

Eniola pouted, "I'm just not sure if I want to go yet" "Eniola" "Okay okay okay" she laughed, "I'll be out shortly, given me fifteen minutes"

Forty five minutes  later

Eniola got out clad a simple red gown and Folabi shook his head, "Fifteen minutes she?" "Sorry, its a red gown, i had to do a little make up. Sorry" she pouted her lips, "What are you doing?" "I'm trying to melt your heart" she replied and he hissed looking away.

"Abeg let's go"

Eniola laughed leaning against him, "I took just thirty minutes for the make up" "You should have taken an hour" "God you're complaining like an old man" "Let's go jhoor!"

Eniola drove into the compound complaining of the probability of not meeting her father at home. "I'm sure he's not at home" "Madam stop complaining" "Weren't you the one complaining about my make up" "Hey, get it right and quote me right, I was complaining about the time you took for the make up not the make up itself. The make up is nice"

"Awwwn. You think so?"

"Women! I already gave you the compliment but you want me to repeat it again shey?" "You're not romantic at all" "The last time I checked, you're not my girlfriend"

Eniola pulled over and they both got out. She knocked on the door and the maid opened up. "Good afternoon Miss Eniola, Mummy! Aunty Enny is here oh!" She screamed entering into the house and she rolled her eyes then she walked in. "That's... What's her name again, just a day and I'm forgetting names, that's Ruth, our help"

"Is that even her name?"

"Of course it is" she walked in and he followed her in. "I mean someone as snobbish as you are " "I'm not that horrible Folabi, okay, I'm that horrible but just because she's my help shouldn't make her less human, it was then and I'm being asked to choose between Osas and Ruth, I wouldn't have hesitated so..." She shrugged.

Mr and Mrs Badmus walked into the sitting room.

"Eniola my dear" Mrs Badmus called out and she turned towards their direction. "Good morning Dad, good morning Mom"

Folabi greeted too.

"Who's the young man?"  Mrs Badmus asked, "Folabi Kuti Badmus is the name Ma" "The journalist? What's he doing here?" "He's a friend" "I thought you hated him"

"Hated, past tense, now I'm just trying to endure him" she replied and he chuckled. "Well, this is a family affair, please leave"

"Yes Ma'am" he bowed his head walking out of the door.

"Mom!"

"What? Its a family meeting"

"I wouldn't have been here if he didn't convince me in the first place. You were being rude Mom, excuse me" she said leaving.

Mrs Badmus made attempt to follow her but her husband held her back, "Wait" "I just want to apologize" "Just wait, let's see of she'll come back or not" "Daddy Goriola, honey, what if she doesn't? She's here now, let's just apologise to her and explain things to her"

"Wait. I'm trying to observe something"

"Folabi!" Eniola called out and he turned back at her, "What are you doing? Shouldn't you be apologising to your parents" "Mom was being rude" "I thought that was your major" he  chipped in and she rolled her eyes.

"I'm not trying to change, I'm just...." She trailed off, "I just want to say I'm sorry about the way she spoke to you, you didn't deserve it" "I didnt but if we're looking at the issue closely, she was right after all. It's a family issue and I shouldn't butt in. I couldn't help but laugh when you introduced me as your friend. When did we become friends?"

Eniola cleared her throat, "I didn't know where to fix you...." She shrugged then she cleared her throat, "We became friends two nights ago, I don't have much people around me to tell me what I really need to hear, except Jemima, I realized those are the real friends." She cleared her throat again.

"I'm not saying I'm changing or anything, I'm just saying....I could use a friend like you"

"Young lady, why don't you get your ass in there and give your parents the apology they deserve"

Eniola nodded. "I don't say this often but....Thank you" "You're welcome" he replied walking away and she smiled, "And stop calling me young lady!" "Don't hold your breathe!" He screamed and she chuckled returning back in.

"Honey" Mrs Badmus called out, "Your father and I, we're sorry for not telling you what you needed to know" "I think I should be the one to apologise." Her eyes moistened, it was about to rain tears.

"These past two days I've come to realize a lot, I found out I have siblings aproximately eight siblings from my birth parents, Goriola included.  I've come to realise that if I wasn't adopted, I probably would have been a pepper seller, married to a drunk with uncountable number of children, I wouldn't have had a life,a career the comfort you two provided for me, the love" a lone tears rolled down on side of her cheek.

"I was wrong for getting angry, I'm sorry for ignoring your calls, for blocking you all. I was being ungrateful and childish. I'm sorry" she cried out and Mr Badmus held his wife closer, "You had every right to be angry. We should have told you all those years but we kept it to ourselves, you can call it selfish reasons sha"

"Your father's elder sister always insist on telling you but severally I've been stubborn. We love you Eniola and we'll always love you"

"I love you too" She confessed hugging the both of them together and they all chuckled. Eniola wiped her tears off then she clapped her hands, "That reminds me, I have gist for you the two of you"

Mr Badmus cleared his throat, "Like that fine young man that just left now" he replied and Eniola busted out laughing. "Daddy, don't start getting ideas into your head. He's just a friend" "That kind of friend" he winked at his wife.

"Okay I saw that! He's not that kind of friend, he's purely a friend. I don't like him, he's not even rich" "He clearly has a good character"

Eniola laughed, "Dad, he's not my type and besides, he's too short for my liking" "Ah I see" "Daddy Goriola!" Mrs Badmus tapped her husband. "I want someone prominent for our daughter" "Like the last matchmaking you did was successful. I want a man that will sweep her off her feet, a man that will be like a compass to her, Eniola ti jogbon ju!"

"Dad! I'm not a trouble maker"

Mr Badmus raised his nose in disbelief, "You are not" "Dad!" "It's your comscience that's arguing with you?"

Briggs law firm

Eniola walked into Morenike's office dressed differently in a navy blue gown. "Good morning Ma" "Good morning Eniola, I see you're back. I understand you had to take a break yesterday because of what you found out."

"Yeah. I'm sorry I couldn't call, it came as a shock"

"Sit" She gestured and Eniola did. "You shouldn't blame your parents for what happened. Your mother has been my friend for years now, After she had Goriola, she got pregnant but she had several miscarriages, she doesn't like talking about it. Janet's womb could no longer house another child, when she told me about  Davina secret adoption agency..." She trailed off, "Your parents showed you love and you could testify to that fact. They raised you as though you were theirs, she loved you from the first day she saw you, I can remember her smile" Morenike smiled.

Eniola exhaled, "I deserved to know but I already reconciled with them" "I'm happy to know. It's a busy day, you should be in your office" "I'm renouncing myself as your assisting attorney in Chief Akinola Bello's case" she announced and Morenike scoffed, "Tell me you're not taking on Osas case" "I'm sorry Ma but I am, she's my sister"

"I've always thought you were guided, professional and ambitious. It's wrong"

"To do what? Change sides? Even politicians cross carpet every now and then, why shouldn't I? Ma'am, I realised she isn't lying about everything that happened" "Over everything? The ghost story? It's fake, such ridiculous things does not exist!"

"It's not fake!"

"Have you seen her talk to a ghost?"

"No but she and others assured me that"

Morenike cuts in, "Are you speaking as yourself or you're speaking as her sister?" "Are you working as a real attorney or as someone who hates her? Cause I know I was, I was blind and now I can see"

"What amazing grace you have found Eniola! You're obviously doing this as remission for the hate"

"At least I'm trying to make remission for something I'm doing wrongly!" She snapped, "Oh like what?" "Going against your own son, taking his house away from him, a building you gave to him and for what reason? Remind me again cause I'm not stupid, I know damn well it was because of me and then I didn't care because you're right Ma'am I haven't found that grace. Now I'm working to get approval" tears rolled down her eyes, "Yes, I lie to myself that I'm not, that I don't care but the truth is, it's just two days and I feel like such a horrible person. My own sisters don't like me because I have bullied them one way or the other, how do you live with yourself?" She asked and Morenike scoffed.

"Are you done?" She asked and Eniola sniffled wiping her tears, "I'm sorry Ma, that was uncalled for, I didn't mean it." "Yes you did. You see Eniola, we're kind of alike, you're truthful, you tell the truth without caring who it hurts. You know how I operate Eniola, I work for what I'm being paid for, I've been paid and I must see to it that I carry out the job"

"You cant win, Chief Akinola Bello is guilty and I and Osaze are ready to prove it"

"Is that a threat? You do realize you're threatening your boss"

"I resign. And no it's not a threat, it's a warning." She replied rising up from the chair, "And Chief Akinola Bello better be in his good behaviour cause I'm coming for him." She added leaving the office and Morenike grabbed her bag, taking out her pill box.

Her hands trembled so she dropped it on the floor and all the pills came rolling on the floor.
