Chapter Sixty-Two

Lizzy's PoV (Surprise surprise!)

Before the flood of memories came, the last thing I remembered was standing in front of a boy named Michael Yew while a girl named Ari was yelling at him about trying to help me with the massive headache I had when I had the mind set of an eight-year-old child. I must have fainted from the pain after that. That was understandable enough I would think. I mean, two other life times worth of memories trying to barge into one's head at the same time would be excruciatingly painful for anybody. I will spare you all the details of my first life however, because I think you all know how that one went.

Yes, dear readers or audience members or whoever you are, I am well aware of your presence. One of the perks of being on the verge of my final death.

(This next part is just an idea I had with xxrearesxx This is NOT based on an actual myth I looked up.) Apparently, when a soul is about to die for the third time in order to get to the Isles of the Blest, they remember everything from their past two lives. I don't know why this happens. I only just found out now because, well, apparently I'm about to die. I'm guessing it's to help make the soul aware of everything that happened in order to help them make the right decision at the right time for everything to go smoothly. At least, that's what I felt like it did for me.

As the flashes of images of my first life passed into my second life, I saw myself jump into the river Lethe and be reborn to a mortal family. I watched as I grew up to be two years old. My mom and dad left me at a daycare center because they both had jobs. I only noticed this now that I was rewatching the scene, but there was a man, who I could now identify as Hades, who watched me as I said good bye to my parents before he vanished to thin air. A few hours after that, I was playing with a friend I made in the playground area when another man walked up to the edge of the fence. He had a mask on his face, and he pulled out a gun. I didn't know what it was when I was living because I was only two, but I had a feeling it was wrong. I watched as I pushed my friend out of the way as the gun went off. My previous self crumpled to the ground. I was announced dead at the scene.

I watched as I again jumped into the river Lethe, but instead of being reborn in a new body, I landed in my current body of an eight-year-old girl. The body had died in a car accident along with her parents, and the soul left after the paramedics revived the body. I was sucked into that one by accident. I watched the familiar encounter with Hades in the hospital before I knew it was him. He walked into my room and said he knew my parents, and he knew they would want him to take care of me. Of course, I had no recollection of what he was talking about because I was not the soul this body belonged to. He said he would explain as much as he could when we got to his home which, obviously, was the Underworld. He said he didn't usually let live people here, especially mortals, but I was an exception because I reminded him of someone. He told me my name was Lizzy Taxiarchai. The previous owner of this body might have been named Lizzy, but I know now that my last name could not have been hers. Hades had a pretty good sense of humor by naming me with that particular Greek name.

When the images faded from my mind, I gasped and sat up, fully awake. A boy, Beckendorf, was just about to close the door behind him as he walked out of the room when he heard me and whirled around to face me. "Lizzy! Are you alright? Stay there! I'm getting Ari!"

"Beckendorf, wait!" I called out, but he was already gone.

A few minutes later, he, Ari, Selena, Ethan, and Michael burst into the room. "Lizzy! What-"

"No offense, Ari, but move!" Michael pushed his way to the front and started checking my vitals.

I pushed him off of me and stood up. "I'm fine guys. I know why I had the headaches, and we have to go."

"What? No! Lizzy, what are you talking about? You have to stay here and rest!" Ari said.

"No! We have to go. I know how to close the rift!" I yelled.

"What-"

We didn't have time for this. I grabbed a hold of Ari's wrist and Ethan's arm. Everyone else scrambled to grab someone as they realized what I was about to do. I didn't know how to do it back then, and I wasn't sure my body could do it now. However, I just went with my instinct and focused on the one person I had been waiting to see for two life times no matter how short they were.

"Lizzy, wait!"

I jumped into a shadow, and we disappeared for a second before reappearing in a red tinted hellish place I never wished to see again. I let go of Ari and Beckendor, and I glanced around quickly before spotting a black haired boy standing a few feet away from another boy lying on the ground. His face was filled with shock and amazement. Tears pricked the corners of my eyes. He had grown up so much.

"Nico," I whispered.

Wow! I didn't leave you all in suspense for almost a month! Though I was tempted. 😂 Anyway, I probably made it a lot easier to guess who Lizzy is. Comment below who you think she is, and I will answer whether you are right or wrong by the next chapter! Hope you all have a good day or night!
