Chapter Nineteen

Nelson's PoV

This place was amazing. There were so many people talking, laughing, and running around the green fields and up one side of a hill with a pine tree on the top of it. Thalia's pine tree, I recalled. The tree held the Golden Fleece. As in the actual original Golden Fleece from Polyphemus, the cyclops', island. A real live dragon they named Peleus was guarding it, but right now he was sound asleep. Then there was the training areas with the sword arena, archery range, even a climbing wall that spewed lava. I wasn't too sure about the lava wall, but Piper, Jason, and Frank all assured me it would be okay. There were medics on hand in case anyone got injured, and Percy would help douse the flames if anyone caught on fire because he could control water.

As we walked, I tried to pay attention to the stories my tour guides were giving me about the Titan War and the most recent Giant War, but it was hard when there were so many things that kept begging for my attention. Not that their stories weren't cool and all because they definitely were, but I was probably going to have to ask for a recap later. I did manage to retain pieces of information about the camp itself, a little bit about Camp Jupiter, the gods, some of the stories that the Romans did during the Titan War and some stories they had heard from the Greek demigods that were here during that time since Piper came after the Titan War, and stories from the Giant War which some of them seemed so ridiculously dangerous that I almost couldn't believe it actually happened. When I looked up at their faces from my wheelchair, however, I could see in their eyes that they weren't lying. That was mildly depressing.

Piper rolled me around both wings of cabins and explained to me that in this camp, everyone slept in the cabin that represented their godly parents. A boy with some great muscles and a rainbow tattoo on his bicep that stood in front of a rainbow cabin winked at me. I felt heat creep up my neck, and I waved slightly back. At that point, Jason had been talking about how he felt about sleeping in the Zeus cabin alone with a creepy statue of his dad staring at him, but I could feel Piper's gaze glance down at me and then at the guy who winked at me. She bent down close to my ear and whispered knowingly, "His name is Butch, and he is a son of Iris." I felt myself go even redder, and Piper stood up straight again, smirking.

"Hey, can we go by the dining pavilon? It's around lunch time, and I'm hungry." Frank complained. We laughed, and Piper rolled me toward an open aired pavilion with tables that were full to bursting with kids ranging from six to older than nineteen years of age.

"What happens when it rains? Does everyone just go into their cabins to eat?" I asked as I took in the nonexistent ceiling.

"The weather within the camp's borders are controlled, so it won't rain unless we want it to," Piper said smiling.

"I'm really glad Chiron took out that rule about having to sit at your cabin's table. Between how many new campers we get on an almost daily basis, and the Romans coming to visit from time to time, there was no way we could all fit at our respective tables. Plus, it does get lonely when you see all of the other tables bursting with people and you are the only one sitting at your table." Jason said.

Frank nodded. "It was kind of awkward sitting with the Ares kids. I mean, they're great and all, but I get a little self conscious around them. I feel like they don't really know what to make of me because I don't go around trying to rough up some kid."

"I'm sure they like you. I mean, I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't." I tried to say comfortingly.

Frank gave me a grateful smile, and we sat down at a fairly empty table. Piper passed me a plate and cup and told me to just think about whatever I wanted to eat and drink. She then explained about the sacrificing a portion of the meal in the sacrificial fire to the gods. I looked down at my plate, and almost immediately a pile of plain pasta with cheese on it appeared and some ice cream soda appeared in my cup. Jason took his turn to roll me out to the sacrificial fire, and I scooped out a portion of my food into the fire. Hey, dad. I know I don't know who you are, but I really need help. I know Hades is missing, and I just want to make sure mom is okay. I really miss her, and I want her to be safe. Please, help us find Hades. I just want mom's soul to be safe.

"Hey man, are you okay?" Jason asked gently while putting a hand on my shoulder.

I flinched slightly as he brushed a bruise that hadn't completely healed yet. "Yeah, why are you asking?" I asked confused.

"You were crying. I just wanted to make sure you were okay." Jason said.

I brought my hand up to my cheek and wiped under my eye. It was, indeed, wet with unnoticed tears. I looked back up at Jason, and his eyes knit with concern. "I'm fine. I was just thinking." I lied.

Jason nodded slowly, not entirely convinced. "You know, if you need to talk, my cabin door is always open." I nodded thankfully, and he rolled me back to the table.

Piper and Frank looked up and were about to say something when a shrill reedy voice broke through the air. "Hey guys! Have you seen Percy? I need to talk to him and Nico." I looked up and almost fell out of my wheelchair in shock. A guy with curly brown hair and a "Save the Wild" T-shirt was standing next to me holding hands with a girl, but that wasn't what surprised me. The guy had little goat horns and furry goat legs complete with cloven hooves, and the girl was tinted slightly green with a green dress.

"Hi Grover, Juniper," Piper said, nodding to them. "Percy went with Annabeth and Reyna to give one of the new campers a tour. Nico is in his cabin like you probably guessed, but I wouldn't bother him at the moment. He's currently trying to calm his new sister down after she freaked out on us. She needed a break from being around everyone." Piper explained.

Grover nodded, looking sort of surprised and confused, and then he turned towards me. "Hi, my name is Grover Underwood. I'm part of the Council of Cloven Elders." He stuck out his hand, and I shook it shakily. I was still trying to wrap my head around the fact that he was half goat.

The girl stuck out her hand next, and I shook it. "I'm Juniper. Grover's girlfriend."

"Hi, I'm Nelson," I said with a nervous smile.

Grover looked at me curiously. "You remind me of someone. Maybe not by looks, but you... Smell familiar."

"Um... What?" I asked taken aback.

"Sorry, satyrs can smell demigods like monsters can, and you smell vaguely familiar. It's probably nothing, but it is strange you smell slightly of grapes. Hope you like it at Camp Half Blood! Bye, Piper, Jason, and Frank." Grover said as he turned away with Juniper.

The others smiled and waved back as I stared down at my plate again. I smell like grapes?

I hope you guys enjoy this next chapter! Have a great day!
