Chapter-35|Support

The next morning, I wake up to the feeling of someone feathering my shoulder with light kisses. Opening my eyes slowly, I turn my head to see Ethan.

I smile at him, "Good morning."

Turning around in his arms, I feel surprised when my fingers come in contact with fabric, making me furrow my brows.

"You're dressed?" I say, my voice filled with sleep.

"Yeah, it's seven in the morning. I have a flight to catch." He tells me and leans down to place a quick kiss on my lips.

Instead of leaning over, he lies down beside me and wraps his arms around me.

"Do you want me to come to drop you off at the airport?" I ask, tracing the bow of his lips.

"No, it's too early in the morning for you to get up." He says, chuckling.

I chuckle before shrugging, "I could come. Dani would be there anyway to drop Riley."

"No, it's fine." He says, pressing a kiss on my forehead. "I'll manage and anyway, the sight of you in my bed is something I wanna keep in mind when I go."

"Oh? So, I take it you're enjoying the view?" I tease, quirking a brow.

"I am enjoying the view alright." He says with a smirk before grabbing my chin and kisses me deeply.

Opening up to him, I let his tongue collide with mine. His hand on my back starts wandering about before it slips down to my ass and squeezes it.

"I'm gonna miss this." He says, smiling.

"I know, but you need to be with your family right now. Liam needs you." I say, cupping his cheek.

"I know." He sighs.

"Let me quickly call Riley and see if she needs me at the airport." I say and sit up in the bed with the sheets clutched to my chest.

"Okay." He says, pecking me. "Let me just check my bags."

Nodding at him, I pick up my phone from his nightstand and dial Riley.

"Hey." She says, picking up.

"Hi." I say, softly. "How're you feeling?"

"I feel okay, I guess. I mean, like I'm more in terms with the whole thing now." She says, slowly.

"Hey, it's gonna be fine." I say, softly.

"I really hope so." She says, sighing. In the background, I hear Dani say something before Riley replies with a yes.

"Do you want me to come to the airport?" I ask.

"Only if you can." She says.

"Of course, I can." I say, nodding my head before realizing she can't see me.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I'm sure. I'll be there in fifteen." I say and hang up once she agrees.

Ethan steps back inside the room just as I'm putting my phone back on the nightstand. Pushing the sheets away, I grab Ethan's t-shirt lying on the floor and pull it over my head.

"What did she say?" He asks, sitting back on the bed as I walk towards the bathroom.

Turning my head, a little, "Looks like this isn't the view you'll remember me by. I'm coming with you."

"Your brush is still there." He tells me and true to his words, the brush I used last morning is still there, right beside his.

"Sweet of you to keep it." I comment and start brushing as he comes to stand behind me and meets my eyes in the mirror.

He keeps staring at me with a small smile on his face, making me furrow my brow in confusion. I raised my chin in a what gesture because speaking would have created a mess.

"Nothing." He said shaking his head before a smile overtook his face and he wraps his arm around my waist. "I'm just thinking how I could get used to this."

Spitting in the sink, I turned on the tap and looked back up at him with a goofy smile on my face.

"Well, then get used to it." I chuckle, making him smile. "But you need to let me borrow your hoodie first." I point out.

"Have at it." he says chuckling and presses a kiss to my head before stepping out of the bathroom. I complete my bathroom regime in utter silence, but even that couldn't stop the smile plastered on my face.

I walk out and grab my pants, which are kept neatly folded on the chair of his desk. Pulling them up, along with my underwear, I walk over to the closet and open it to see a bunch of different hoodies and T-shirts.

"You have hoodies than me." I yell, hoping he would hear me. Sifting through the clothes, I pull out a black hoodie that looked like it has been worn once or twice. I pull it over my head and instantly the smell of Ethan's cologne fills my sense.

"Yeah, because I love hoodies and boys don't have that many clothing options, anyway." He shrugs when I turn around.

"Don't blame your lack of fashion sense on lack of variety." I tease, as I stand in front of the mirror and pull my hair into a ponytail.

"I have a good sense of fashion, thank you very much." He scoffs, looking up from his mobile phone.

"Whatever helps you sleep, baby." I tease as I gauge his reaction in the mirror. His eyes snap back to mine and I could see them darken.

"Seriously?" I laugh as I walk over to him with a subtle smirk on my face.

"What?" He asks as he holds my waist when I stand between his legs where he sat on the edge of the bed.

"That's all it took you to get turned on? A nickname?" I chuckle and trail my hand down the side of his face.

"I'm always turned on around you." He says, smirking.

"Tuck it back in your pants, mister." I say, patting his head. "You have a flight to catch and I have a best friend to support."

"Okay." He says and gets up with a groan, making me step back. His hands are still placed around my waist.

"Let me just..." He murmurs before wrapping his arms around my waist firmly and leans down to kiss me. Kissing him back, I let my hand rest on his shoulder as I sigh when one of his hands comes up to cup my cheek. The warmth of his palm spreading through my cheeks makes me feel safe and elated.

He pulls back from me with a small smile on his face as his thumb rests on my bottom lip and strokes the corners of my lips with his eyes intently focused on his thumb.

"Do you wanna eat something before we go?" He asks, murmuring.

I shake my head, knowing we're already kind of running behind the clock. "We're late. Let's go."

I step back from begrudgingly, making him sigh. "Fine. let's go." He says and grabs my hand before we both walk out of his room. I pick up my phone on the way out.

"Do you wanna take your car or mine?" He asks as we step down the stair.

"We'll take one or else I'll have to come back to drop your car and take mine." I point out.

"You know you can here, even when I'm not here, right?" He says, looking down at me as we step into the living room.

"Really?" I ask, with a surprised smile on my face.

"Yeah, of course." He says, chuckling.

"But what would I do without you?" I wonder.

"I don't know..." He says, furrowing his brows. "You can look through my stuff." He jokes, making me laugh.

Moving my eyes, I see Noah, Mason, Gray, and Aiden standing in the living room with their eyes wide open and mouths agape.

"What the fuck?" Noah mutters.

"Thank the fucking lords." Gray sighs, contrary to Noah's words.

"What?" I ask, confused. Looking up at Ethan, in hopes of some clarity, I come empty-handed when I see his raised eyebrows.

"Thank the fucking lords, it's you." He says, pointing at me.

"What are you talking about?" I ask, brows furrowed.

"Last night I heard sex noises from his room." He starts, and I instantly cringe. "And I genuinely thought that he kind of fucked up because of everything with his family and then, you."

"Being his friend and obviously, yours, I was not looking forward to the talk I would've had with him this morning, but I'm happy that it's you and not some other chick." He finishes with a sigh, making me smile. Gray was looking out for me. Even when he knew we weren't together, he would have had an awkward conversation with Knight just for me.

"Yeah and he told us this morning, officially making us a part of the talk." Noah grumbles.

"But I'm glad it's not happening." Mason says, collapsing back on the sofa. I look up at Ethan to see a horrified expression on his face making me laugh as I squeezed his hand in comfort.

"So, what? Y'all are together now?" Aiden asks us, moving towards our joined hands. Instead of replying, Ethan looks down at me, giving me the control I so desperately hold on to.

Without a thought, a smile graces my lips. "Yeah, we're together."

"Yeah?" Ethan asks, smiling.

"Looks like it's as much of news to him as to us." Mason laughs along with the others, making me blush.

"But seriously? Is it even news for us?" Gray asks, shrugging his shoulder. "We knew it was a matter of time before two idiots realize things on their own."

"Don't call me an idiot." I scold.

"Oh! I'll call you an idiot because you act like one." He says, narrowing his eyes at me, but the small smile on his lips doesn't go away.

"Whatever." I roll my eyes before walking over to the table beside the main door and pick up my car keys as Ethan bids goodbyes to his friends.

Ethan drives us to the airport and against my many attempts to stop him, he makes a pit stop at Starbucks to get me a coffee.

He parks the car in the airport's parking before turning to me. "I'm sorry."

His words surprise me, making me turn to him with furrowed brows. "What? Why?"

"I should have breakfast with you today but..." He trails off. "I know there's still time for the flight, but I just wanted to spend some time with Riley, you know. With everything happening, we haven't really talked." He tells me, melting me. This guy in front of me is so incredibly considerate.

"Shut up." I say, shaking my head before a chuckle falls from my lips. "I would have been pissed if you didn't spend any time with your sister. What are you apologizing for? Being a good brother?"

"No, it's just..." He starts.

"No. Stop," I say softly and unbuckle myself. Leaning forward, I cup his face in my hands.

"You don't have to apologize for being there for your family and friends." I smile, softly. "And technically, I'm here for Riley, so I should apologize too." I tease.

He chuckles as his hands grab mine. "Now, that makes me sound stupid."

"That's because you're stupid." I say, smiling sweetly.

A knock on the window startles me, making me turn around to see Dani looking at us through the glass with a huge, goofy smile on her face.

Pushing the door open, I step out.

"Finally!" Dani squeals before hugging me.

"Okay! Okay!" I say, pulling back with a laugh.

"I'm so happy you didn't chicken out last night." She says, sounding like a proud mom as Ethan steps out of the car and chuckles.

"Right." I say, shaking my head and turn to see Dani's car parked a few steps away. Riley is walking towards us and a gigantic smile overtakes her face when her eyes find me.

"Iris." She squeals before running towards me and enveloping me in a hug.

"I'm so glad that sexual tension is finally gone." She whispers in my ear, making me blush and laugh all at once.

"I'm right here. Go ahead, ignore me." Ethan mumbles as he takes out his bags from the back of the car.

"Oh, I will." Riley says, smiling at her brother before she envelops him in a hug. I turn back around when I hear Hanna's name as Ethan hugs her back more tightly and both of them start whispering things to each other.

"We'll talk when we get home." Dani says, smiling excitedly at me.

"Okay." I say, just as Riley walks towards me again.

"I'll go inside and wait for him while you kiss goodbye and all that." She says, rolling her eyes.

"Hey." I pull her into a hug. "Take care of yourself and call me if you need anything." I whisper in her ear, making her nod against my shoulder.

Pulling back from me, she smiles, "Bye."

Riley walks towards the entry gate, and Dani walks a few steps with her to bid her goodbye.

I turn around just as Ethan's eyes move back to mine. "I'll miss you." He says, pulling me in for a hug.

"I'll miss you, too." I whisper against his chest. My voice comes out muffled because of the T-shirt he's wearing. We don't know when they'll be back because as of now, Hanna is critical, making everything more tentative and difficult.

"Update me on the baby and Hanna, if you can." I say, softly knowing updating me shouldn't be on his priority list when he's there to support his family.

"Of course. I will." he says, pulling back. Cupping my cheek, he ducks his head and kisses me.

I kiss him back, not knowing how long before I get to do that again. He pulls back with a sigh, before pressing his lips to my forehead, making me close my eyes.

"I'm scared." He mumbles against my forehead. "I don't know what else I'll find out when we get there. What if it's worse?" His words break my heart a little. I

Pulling back from him, I take his hands in mine. "Whatever it is... good, bad, worse, I know you can handle it. I know it's hard but try not to think like that." I say, stroking the back of his hand.

"Think of the baby girl you'll meet when you get there." I say, smiling, and a smile overtakes his face at the thought.

"Your entire family will be there with you. You're not alone. And I'm right here." I say, cupping his cheek with one hand.

"I know." He says, leaning into my touch. "I should go." He mumbles, looking at Dani and Riley standing a few steps away from us.

"You should." I say, leaning up and pecking him on the lips. "Text me when you land."

He pulls away from me and holds my head in his hand before pressing his lips against my forehead once again.

"Text me when you reach home." He says, making me chuckle.

I have no idea how I'm going to spend the next few days or weeks away from him, now that I have got the taste of what it's like to be with Ethan Knight.
