Chapter 4

Astral trembled slightly as he looked for the lever to power the backup generator. He hoped to not come across the person.

He wasn't going to push it, though.

At last, Astral found the room. where the lever was at. He laughed with relief and pulled the lever down. Immediately, the lights came on.

Now that there is light, I will be somewhat masked better than I was in the dark, Astral thought. He quickly made his way to the top floor.

When he got to the top of the stairs, he fell to his knees and breathed shaky a sigh of relief.

"I'm glad that's over," he sighed. "I don't know how Yuma stands this…"

He took a few more minutes to regulate his breathing before setting off again.

After a lot of wandering, Astral collapsed on the floor, dead tired.

~.~.~

Yuma had escaped the twins for the time being. He knew they would be back, though, and the thought alone sent shivers of anticipation down his spine. He knew there was a time and place to enjoy a horror game, and that time wasn't now, but the thrill was too good.

He snuck around a corner to see if Astral was there. He wasn't. Who knew where that spirit might have been! For all Yuma knew, he was all the way at the start. After all, it was a very small chance that they were dropped off in the same location of the asylum.

After a while of searching, Yuma grew worried. What if Astral couldn't handle the stress of being chased all the time? He didn't like horror anything, no matter how small it was. He even refused to play Mad Father! Mad Father was nothing compared to the other games he played.

So, how was the poor spirit holding up?

~.~.~

Astral woke up in a padded room with a bed and crosses all over the walls. It wasn't a place he recognized, and he grew frightened. There seemed to be no way out.

Then, the door swung open.

Astral didn't question it. He just flew out and took a look at his surroundings. There were people all over the place, banging their heads against walls, sitting there alone, being very disturbing to Astral.

Astral looked through every door window to see if there was anyone who could be a possible threat. One smashed the glass from the window, but other than that, none of them posed a threat.

That is, until he saw the twins.

They started speaking about him as if he weren't there. Astral started to go away, and he caught the last words they said.

"I want his tongue… and liver."

"They are yours."

Astral suppressed a whimper of fear and went down the stairs. There, more people wandered aimlessly. Some talked to him, but they didn't make much sense. He decided to ignore them.

After a while of searching, Astral went into a room and found a crack in a wall. He took a chance and slipped through. He climbed up the ledge and pulled himself up.

"Silky. Silky. Silky. Silky."

Astral jumped when he heard the voice. He made his way up and turned away before he could see what was going on. He hurried away to the other hall.

There was three halls. Astral tried two of them, but the doors were locked. He finally tried the final door, and it opened.

The only one that didn't lock. Astral sighed. Well, let's get this over with

Astral pushed open the door and ended up in the other side, the side he couldn't get to when he was exploring before he went into the crack.

Astral sighed and looked down. The people down there were still doing their thing. He looked to his right, and there was ledge. He laughed slightly. At least he wouldn't have to cross it on foot. Another advantage of not touching the ground!

Astral flew across the ledge and made it to the other side. He kept going straight until he reached the end of the hall. There, he turned to the open door.

Green lightAstral shivered. He moved forward, hugging his abdomen.

When he saw the blood message, he read it.

"God always provides a path. Follow the blood."

"Follow the blood…" Astral mumbled, and follow the blood he did. "Okay… Sure, I'll follow the blood. I'll follow the blood as long as it takes me to where I need to be. I'll follow the blood."

He kept mumbling that as he went ahead, following the blood. He flew up the stairs.

Up, up, up, up.

~.~.~

Yuma made it to the beginning of the place, but he didn't find Astral. There was no sign of a glowing, trembling body. That was strange. Astral normally didn't go past the entrance of a horror game. Not Kraven Manor, 7 Days, Mad Father, Mermaid Swamp, Amnesia, Ib, Misao, anything. The fact that he wasn't at the start now didn't make any sense.

"Could he have gone inside?" Yuma wondered out loud. "I would be surprised if he did."

Yuma sighed and popped out the dead battery. He placed in a new one and headed back inside.

It was dark. He raised the camera up and turned on the night vision. This was going to take a while.

"Come on, Astral," Yuma mumbled. "You could have stayed here. The one time I want you to stay at the entrance, and you go off." He sighed.
