Chapter 6

It sounds ridiculous. I don't understand.

It's fine.

That's it. That's all.
That's what Cassian texted back after all my 20 messages I had sent him.

I've been staring at it for 30 minutes straight, not knowing what to do.

"Do you think he hates me?" I fell back on the bed, frustrated.

Tyler did the same, laying close to me. "Maybe. I mean, you didn't even let him in your house after he kissed you at that,"

I whined loudly. "You're not helping Ty,"

I told Tyler about what happened between Cassian and me—including him kissing me.

I even mentioned Liam. But not about him storming out or what happened before he did.

"I don't think you need to worry, Sunshine. You do know Cas will come around," he assured me.

"I know, but I just feel bad," I sighed. "Do you think you can take me to see him?" I asked Ty.

"Bad idea," he said.

"Why?" I whined.

"Because let Cassian come talk to you. Maybe what he needs right now is space,"

And maybe he was right. I should give him that space.

I got up, sitting up straight. "Fine. I hope he talks to me soon,"

"He will. Don't worry about it,"

I smiled at him. "Thanks, Ty. I seriously don't know what to do without you,"

He chuckled.

"So, what's been going on with you and Erica?" I asked.

Tyler had been dating Erica for six months now. But yet I haven't met her once.

He took in a long breath. "To be honest, I don't even know," he said. "It feels like we've been distant,"

"Well, you have Ty. You're here most of the time now. Doing online school as well. Don't you want to go back?"

"I do, but the thing is, I feel so much better here, and I feel bad saying it, but I don't even miss her, " he shrugged his shoulder.

I pressed my mouth in a thin line. "What does that mean?"

"I guess I'll find out when I talk to her tonight, " he said.

I remembered the first time he had told me about her. He seemed to be the most excited he has ever been. But even something like that can crumble.

"Okay. If you want to talk, I'm here for you, Ty. Always," I said. He smiled at me, his eyes meeting mine. "I know you are," I returned his smile.

-

I muttered a goodbye to Ty as I descended his stair.

I've spent most of the day with him, and I know I had school the next day, and he had to call his girlfriend.

"What are you doing here?" I looked up to see Liam standing there at the bottom of the stair.

He had a black hoodie on and grey pants. I noticed that he was holding some sort of bag in his hand.

"I was just heading home," I said, making my way all the way down.

"Did I not tell you before. Why the fuck do you keep coming here?" He raised his voice.

"I well, I came here to see Ty," I said.

He rolled his eyes.

"Anyways, I'm going now," I said, shifting away from him. But stopped. "We're working on the assignment tomorrow at my place," I said, remembering that Reece had asked me to work on the assignment.

"I'm not coming," he said, walking away, but I caught his arm.

"Please, Liam. We need to finish this assignment. I can't afford to fail another assignment because of you," I said. He yanked his arm out of my hold, and I dropped my hand.

"I don't care," he said.

"I'll do anything just, please come tomorrow," I said.

He took a step closer to me. "You'll do anything?" he asked. There was something in his voice I couldn't place exactly what it was, but it made chills run up my spine.

I slowly nodded. He waited a few seconds eyeing me up and down. "Fine," was all he said before moving away from me. "I'll see you tomorrow, stormy fatty," he smirked before he walked away.

Oh, what did I get myself into?

-
"I have an idea!" Sky announced.

"What's your idea?" I gave her a confused look.

"What if we finish this whole thing before they come over so when they do show up or if they do, we can just kick them out," she said, leaning against the couch and shrugged her shoulders.

I honestly wanted to consider her idea because anything was better than actually having to work with them.

But I knew that was impossible since we all had different parts.

"You know we can't do that," I sighed.

"I know, but I can still hope," she complained.

Ding.

I received a text message from Reece saying that they were here. I told them to come in.

"They're here," I announced.

She sighed. "Let's get this over with,"

And I nodded my head.

Not even 2 minutes later, they walked into the living room.

Reece smiled at us, but his expression flat like always while Liam and Isaac just looked bored.

"Hey!" Reece greeted.

Skyler and I both smiled at him.

"Let's get this shit over with," Issac said, taking a seat on the couch next to Sky. She rolled his eyes at him.

Reece took his laptop out of his bag and sat at one of the other empty couches.

Meanwhile, I sat on the floor, my laptop on the coffee table.

I glanced up at Liam, who was still standing, finally taking a seat opposite to me on the couch instead of the floor.

He placed the laptop on the coffee table.

I couldn't help but take glances up at him. His hair was pulled back. The scar on his forehead was fading slightly. But I knew it would never entirely disappear, just like my own.

"Stop!" Skyler screamed, already getting annoyed with Isaac. "I swear to goodness I'm going to punch you!" she yelled.

"You know you keep saying that, but you don't do it," He grinned, crossing his arm.

"Oh, so you want me to do it," she raised an eyebrow.

He turned his face and pointed at his cheeks.

"Will you both shut the fuck up," Liam exclaimed, annoyed?

Skyler turned her attention to him. "Do you have a problem?"

His face utterly void as he said, "I do, and it's you," before he turned back to his laptop.

"Fuck you!" Sky scowled. But he ignored her, not glancing her way once but side glanced at Isaac, who seemed to be enjoying this whole situation.

"You know pretty girls shouldn't swear," Isaac taunted.

"And fuck boys shouldn't exist," she crossed her arm.

"I'm going to get a drink," I announced. I needed a break from all the yelling, to be honest. I got up from the floor and made my way towards the kitchen.

I leaned forward against the countertop and took in a deep breath.

I grabbed a glass from the cupboard and opened the sink to fill my glass.

"Give me some,"

I almost dropped the glass in my hand and yelped when I heard his voice.

I whipped my head toward him to see him leaning against the doorframe with a smirk.

I set the glass down. "Sure, um, do you want water or anything else?" I asked a little awkwardly, but he didn't say anything.

He made his way in front of me. I leaned further into the countertop. Having nowhere else to go.

He stared at me. His gaze all over my body, wavering towards my lips.

He didn't say anything for a long while. He just watched me.

I twisted my body, trying to move away, but he stopped me placing his hand on my upper abdomen.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Why is that I hate you so much but don't want you anywhere else but near me," something spurred in my chest and my eyes shot up.

He has said that to me before. Are his memories coming back?

He noticed the shift in my gaze. He looked at me, confused.

"You said that before," I whispered.

He took his hand away from me. He ran a hand in his hair and turned his back to me.

He took in a deep breath.

"Liam, I-" he didn't let me finish. He turned around and placed his lips on to my own.

My eyes widened at his sudden move as he pressed me further into the ledge of the sink.

It took me a second to process what was happening, but then I remembered how his lips felt on mine. How they still feel on me.

But he retrieves it fast, stunned. "We kissed before?" He whispered. His breath still scanned my lower lip.

I nodded. We had done more than just kiss. He had done more to me. But I didn't know if I should tell him that.

He stared at my lips, and he brought his lips onto mine once again.

I pulled him closer as if that was even possible, but I needed him close.

I didn't know when this would end, and he would go back to the distant, cold Liam but right now, none of it mattered.

Whether his memories were coming back or not for this split moment, I had him.

I had my Liam.

He deepened the kiss, placing a hand in my hair, tugging on it slightly and asking for entrance which I gave.

I moaned against his lips and wrapped my arms around his back.

He moved his lips to my neck. Kissing my throat.

I brought my hands around his neck and gripped his hair.

"Liam..." I breathed. He groaned. "Keep saying my name like that," his tone was seductive.

"Ah, Liam..." I whispered again.

"What the actual fuck?"

Liam didn't move right away. He glanced up at me.

I saw Skyler and Isaac standing there. Skyler's jaw was wide open.

I had forgotten entirely that they were all here.

I pulled back from Liam's hold and moved aside.

"Well, you were quite thirsty. Weren't you?" Isaac teased.

"Shut up," Liam rolled his eyes. Isaac let out a loud chuckle.

I looked at Sky, finding her with a frown on her face. She seemed disappointed, and I knew she didn't approve of any of this.

I hated the fact she didn't like this. Skyler was someone I considered one of my best friends and having her be disappointed in me like that hurt.

"Just come back, let's finish this stupid assignment. Reece is waiting," she said before walking back to the living room.

Isaac smirked at us once again, shrugging his shoulder and followed behind Sky.

I looked over at Liam, who is already looking at me.

"Don't think we're done yet because, for this assignment, this is the least you can do,"

My heart dropped to my stomach. What?

"What? You thought I kissed you because I got my memories back? No! This is just part of your bargain. You did say you would do anything," he shrugged his shoulder.

I wanted to slap him. In fact, I did slap him.

His eyes darkened, and he scowled. But he didn't move.

"You don't understand, do you?" I sighed, trying to calm down before I did explode. "Whatever, I'm going to work on the assignment," I said before turning on my heel and walked towards the living room but stopped myself. "I'm done begging you. Do this assignment or don't. I don't care anymore," I said and walked away from him.

Maybe this made me pathetic because no matter whatever he thought or did, I wanted it just as much.
