Chapter 4: Interrogation
It took Mathew a few hours to finally wake up. He looked around taking everything in before he realized what was going on. Mathew began struggling against the binds tying him down to the chair he was on. Of course, his efforts were useless. I did tie a good knot.
"Hey! Let me go! What's going on? Do you know who I am?" He cried, still struggling.
"We know exactly who you are Matty boy," I said stepping out from a dark corner, always a sucker for the theatrics.
That got a giggle from Rhea.
"You! You tricked me!" he yelled at Rhea. His face filled with rage and betrayal.
"Sort of sad really, you're a good kisser," she shrugged, only looking slightly bummed.
Ugh, gross.
Colt cleared his throat, steering the conversation back to our mission. "You see Mathew, your father is not such a great person he appears to be."
"My dad?" He asked confused.
"Your college tuition, your car, your house, everything you own is the result of him stealing the money that was suppose to go towards the poor and sick," explained Rhea.
For a split moment, Mathew looked guilty. His expression turned sour within seconds.
"What does that have to do with me if he ripped you off?" He spat.
Ripped us off?
"Ripped us off? That money was suppose to go towards my mother! Her life was ripped away! Maybe I should rip off your head so your dad can know the feeling," I yelled, ready to lung at him. Colts hands were then around my shoulders both trying to calm and support me. I took a few deep breaths trying to calm myself.
The struck look on Mathews face made me pity him a bit, but not for long.
"He also gave no money towards our orphanage instead he tried to sexually harass the kids behind the cameras. Two years after we'd run away, that orphanage shut down. We don't know what happened to the other kids," said Rhea, her voice giving away the hurt she was feeling. She always felt guilty when she thought about the orphanage. We were kids, we weren't able to help the rest.
"I'm sorry, I-" chocked Mathew. It looked like we were breaking him. Good.
"Save it kid," said Colt, before he tying a rag around Mathew's mouth. He took out a camera and started taking pictures of him.
"Smile for daddy," I teased, earning a dark look from him.
It was time for part two of our plan.
We found out the date and location of a fundraiser the senator was going to attend. Some fancy hotel, it was a perfect location for us. Rhea was told to stay with Mathew in our warehouse in case something went wrong. I had bought a long perfectly fitted red dress and had my hair in an elegant updo. Red looked best on me and I knew it. Colt was in a tux fitting his body perfectly bringing out his electric blue eyes with his hair pulled back. I loved Colt in a suit, he was the best kind of eye candy. I had to give to Rhea, she knew how to give one hell of a makeover. I could never get my makeup to look as good as she does. To each their own talent. Where she made things look pretty, I made them hurt.
Colt and I came in in separate cars, no one could know we were working together. My eyes roamed the room for the senate, spotting him at the bar. The stool beside him was empty. Perfect.
"I'll have whatever he's having," I told the bartender slipping a tip, as I sat near the senate.
The senate looked at me, taking me in. He did nothing to hide his hungry gaze.
"I'm Kristen," I said giving him my hand with an inviting smile.
He grabbed and kissed it. It took everything in me not to look at him in disgust.
"I'm governor Bennett," he said.
"Oh my, what an honour," I gave him a flirting smile and the best bedroom eyes I could. From the look he was giving me, I was doing great.
Someone then bumped into me causing me to spill my drink on him. Colt.
Perfect timing.
"Oh I'm so sorry, how can people be so rude?" I sighed, grabbing napkins patting down his thighs. "We can go upstairs and get you clean."
I raised a suggestive brow. The senate got the message because his eyes twinkled. If a man was willing to touch a child, he was more than willing to cheat on his wife. Oh how I wanted to spit in his face. I followed him to his room, happy he kept his guards outside. When I got into the room he took off his jacket, throwing it on a couch. A little eager are we? The senate grabbed me by the waist, pulling me closer to him. Very eager.
Here goes nothing.
