SO I just got this idea, and I wanted to put it up before I forget.

Also, I'll start working on updating my work after this is up.... that is if I can stay away from my paranormal shows, "Paranormal Witness" Season 4 Episode 4 "Suzy Doll" And then tonight there is going to be a new episode of "Ghost Adventures".  So much temptation to watch all that.... but I got to get something updated soon!!!!

So, I don't know if any of you have thought of this or not.

Or maybe you have come across it?

Or maybe it has happened to you?

A story you read is the practically the same as another story.  Every thing is the same, except the names of the characters.

Someone has definitely taken the work of someone else and changed it a bit and made it their own.

I know there are a lot of stories out there, that have a similar plot, but it's completely different though.  But I have come across a few stories where it is very identical to other stories that I've read.

A while back, I have seen some authors who put in their descriptions, "Do not copy this story" or "Do not translate it without permission".

There are so many authors who wrack their brain to come up with brilliant ideas for a story, and then someone decides to copy their idea and pull it off as their own.

Though there are some cases where they just happen to be similar by accident.

That is one of the reasons why, when I started to write my first fanfiction, "Guardians undercover" I looked at all the stories on wattpad I could find with tag similar to what I would add.  And I didn't come across any stories that were similar to my idea.  So I went a head and wrote my story and published it here.

That's what I do with all my work, I always make sure that the idea I got doesn't already exist.  And when it does, I change the entire plot, but keep some of the ideas that I liked the most.

A while back I was so into reading Vampire Knight Fanfictions, and I seriously came across so many works that were practically identical.  It was shocking, because I kept thinking "Was it copied from the original?  Or is this just an accidental similarity?"

And maybe you have had a story of yours copied, I can imagine that is very frustrating.  But the only way to prove you were the first to come up with it, and that you were copied, is the dates it was published.

That's one of the things I like about wattpad, it says when it was last updated.  And you can go look at the comments and look back at the most oldest one.  So if someone tries to call you out on it to say that you copied someone, when that other person actually copied you.  You can just tell them to go look at how far back the comments on your work go, so they'll know just who copied who.

I can't say for sure if my stories are similar to others.  I've check all the ones I could find that were under the same genre and category, but the problem is that some of those other stories were in a different language.  The only languages I know are Spanish and English, so beyond those two languages, I don't know what the other stories are about.

I personally CAN NOT tolerate someone taking the idea of someone else and pull it off as their own.  Because all the hard work a person put into coming up with the idea, is just so easily taken by someone else.  As an author here on wattpad, the thought of someone taking the idea of someone else is a horrible for that person to do.

And I can assume that some would say, "This is really my idea, I didn't know that other story existed." Just to get others off their back.  Though it could be true, and they just didn't know about that other story.

Also before I forget, I know that a few authors get inspired after reading a certain story, and then decide to write one similar to that one.  But the only difference with that, is that they give credit to the author who wrote the story that inspired them.  I have come across a few of those.  And I also came across one, where the author of the story that inspired another author, actually commented on the inspired story to tell them that they were copying their story.

Because the story went from slightly similar, to full out, it seems like a copy just with different names.

ANYWAYS, I really hope that no more stories here on wattpad, and on any other reading site get copied, or in other words plagiarized.

And for those reading this, and have not written any works here, I highly recommend that you look at other works, to make sure that any ideas you have don't already exist at the moment.  Just so that you won't have to come across any problems because the story you have written is similar to another.  ALSO please don't copy another's work.  That is all I ask of you.  Please.

I really hate the idea of seeing so many hate comments, or comments telling the author that they are a cheat and that they copied someone else.  So please don't copy other stories.

I personally came across a story that was sort of similar to one of my own.  It had some similarities, but it was different.  So I was okay with that, but if that story had actually been exactly the same as mine I would have probably asked the author about their story.  But thankfully, so far I haven't have had to do that.  And I hope that I don't have to.

I understand that there are a lot of stories with similar plots, but different content inside.  Like twin-fics, or horrible parents.  And my all time favorites Katekyo Hitman Reborn fanfictions, there are a lot with some similarities, but they are all different.  And I absolutely love and appreciate that the authors so far have their own ideas, and haven't seemed to have copied someone else.  At least as far as I know.

I hope I haven't made someone mad with this chapter.

As I was writing this, I was going to type "how" but I ended up typing "hoe".  Thankfully I noticed it and fixed it.  That actually happened to me a few years ago in summer class.

It was the summer before my senior year in high school, and I was in summer school.  I was taking Government Part B.  And one of the assignments, was to do some research on one country.  Find their death and birth rate.  And some fun facts.  So I picked Russia.

Once we were done, we had to present it in class.  SO I was presenting mine, and when the slide changed, everyone in class started to laugh, even the teacher started to chuckle a bit.  I was confused as to why they were laughing, so I looked behind me at the screen, and I saw in big bold letters, "Hoe" instead of "How".  I was so embarrassed.  And one of the girls in class, asked me if she could take a picture of it.  So she pulled out her phone and took one.

Ah, good times.  Well I'm glad that the teacher was pretty laid back and calm about it hahahaha.
