22: I'm sorry

Mark's POV

"Where is Y/n?" Tyler asks as he sits down next to me at lunch.

"Got sent home." I answer. "You didn't hear?" I raise a brow.

"Hear what?" Tyler asks, a small smile growing at her absence. "I've heard people say her name here and there but I just tune them out after I hear her name."

"She and William Jots got in a fight in second hour." I explain.

"William Jots?" Tyler's eyes widen. "William Jots got in a fight?"

"I know, I was completely shocked too!" I nod.

"I know he can be a complete dick, but I never thought he would get into a fight." Tyler shakes his head. "Why'd though? What happened?"

"William was talking to me, saying things then Y/n came up and punched him." I explain, scanning the room of students.

"What was he saying?" Tyler asks, looking at me.

"According to William and his friend, I paired up with NASA to make something for Y/n and you to like me." I chuckle, meeting eyes with him.

"He's an idiot." Tyler stifles a laugh.

I opened my mouth to say something but was interrupted by arms slinging around my shoulders and a head resting on my right shoulder from behind.

"Hey baby!" Madison squealed, sitting on the other side of me, opposite from Tyler.

"Hey," I greet, attempting to sound exited.

"How has your day been?" She asks with that overly happy tone, flipping her braid behind her.

"Interesting," I shrug. "What about you?"

Tyler quietly laughs from next to me, shaking his head.

Madison groans. "Alicia and Jude are in this big argument right now because apparently Jude heard Alicia talking about her but Alicia claims she never said anything."

I nod, not sure how to respond. She points to the empty space in front of me.

"I heard about the fight!" Her eyes widen. "Shes in your class for Mr. Hallin's, correct?" She asks.

"Yeah," I nod.

"Awe, poor baby." She set her hand on the side of my face. "Don't listen to her, whatever she said isn't true. Thank God for William-"

I interrupted her. "What are you talking about? Y/n is the one who stuck up for me." I chuckle, her hand falling off my face in confusion.

"Everyone is saying she was yelling at you, hence the screaming from earlier, and when William told her to calm down she punched him, leading to the fight." She explained, tilting her head.

"Thats not at all what happened." I shake my head. "Y/n was the good one here, she just took it a little too far."

"Seriously?" She asks in disbelief. "You don't have to cover for her, you know that, right?" She sets her hand on my arm.

"Im not," I shake my head. "It was William saying things to me then Y/n punched him for it."

She stares at me for a moment, eventually sighing and began staring down at her nails tapping against the table.

"If thats what happened, how did it get all twisted?" She asks, more to herself than me.

"I'm not sure." I shrug. "A lot of people like to make things more dramatic than it really was so they switch rolls of people and change it up a bit to make it believable."

"Maybe." She shrugs, staring back at me again.

Another hated time skip :D

Shoving my hands in my pockets, I take a step back from the door, waiting for an answer. Loud yelling was heard on the other side of the door before it opened to reveal Y/n's mom.

"Oh, Mark!" She smiles, pulling the door open more for me to come through. "Come in!"

"How are you, Ms. L/n?" I asks politely, walking in and taking my shoes off.

"I've been better," She sighs. "could I talk to you?"

"S-Sure," I stutter, slight fear showing.

"As you know, Y/n's behavior is," She pauses. "Isn't great."

I nod, signaling her to go on.

"You know more about her than she'll allow me, or anyone, to know." She continues. "Is there anything thats going on that I don't know about? Is there any reason you think she acts out?"

"I'm positive she's told you why," I smile, trying not to look rude. "multiple times actually."

"Not that I'm aware of." She shakes her head, crossing her arms.

"Then you're not listening." I start for the stairs but turn around when I reach the first step. "Just let her see her dad."

With that being said, I made my way up the stairs. Hearing the high pitched voice that was easily told as Ken's, she was on the phone with someone. Passing her door, I stand in front of Y/n's, lightly knocking. No answer.

"Y/n?" I say, knocking again.

Within seconds, the white door swung open and arms were wrapped around my neck with a head sitting in the crook of my neck. Hesitantly, I wrap my arms around Y/n, placing my chin on her shoulder.

"Hey, are you all right?" I whispered, thinking carefully about every word I said.

She doesn't answer. Instead, she slowly walks backwards, holding me in her grip. She kicks the door shut with her foot and holds me tighter to her, burying her face deeper in my neck.

My heart was beating at a rapid pace. I was worried, nervous, and shocked all at once. I didn't know what to do, what do I say? Do I even say anything,
or should I show her that I care instead of telling her. What was going on? This didn't feel like something she'd do.

I couldn't help but feel slightly guilty. I'm apparently dating Madison, but here I am going crazy over contact from someone else. I clearly don't have any feelings towards Madison, but I don't want to upset her or anything.

All those thoughts were thrown out the window as I felt something wet come in contact with my shoulder and Y/n began shaking. She was crying, Y/n L/n was crying. My mind was searching for something, anything, I could do, but I came up with absolutely nothing. I've never been in this situation before.

I began rubbing her back in attempt to comfort her. Her sobs were quite but they were all I could hear. I hold her tightly, wanting her to be okay. I wanted to tell her its okay, but what if its not? I don't know whats going on, I couldn't tell her everything was fine when it really wasn't.

Y/n shook her head slightly. "I-I'm sorry." Her voice is muffled by my chest.

"It's okay," I whisper. "you're fine."

She loosens her grip on me, slowly sliding her arms away from me. I noticed something as she stares at the floor, wiping her face dry. She was about to say something but quickly stopped as I lifted her chin to look at me.

Cupping the side of her face, I stare at the dark black eye and the deep but small cut. Her face reddened as she stared up at me.

"What the fuck, are you okay?" I ask, worry lacing my voice as I remember second hour.

"Its fine," She mumbles, her voice still shaking. "I deserved it."

"You do not." I disagree, placing my other hand on her shoulder as the other one still cupped her face. I wanted to pull my hand off in case she felt uncomfortable but I couldn't, no matter how hard I tried.

"I'm sorry," Y/n whispers in a weak voice, setting her hand on top of mine as she sent a half assed smile my way.

"For what?" I asks, concern growing in great amounts.
