Stressed

Four hundred years had passed since then. Oops had branched off a surprising amount, now sporting more than thirty close acquaintances.

Heli was always closer, though.

She had only been poofed in two battles since then, going through forty. Her and Heli were both trying out normal ponytails.

In the few hundred years that had passed, Misty was just kinda there.

It was a normal day, and Oops wasn't doing much, just walking through the vast halls of SRS. There hadn't been much conflict, or missions lately.

That wasn't a good thing to Oops. To her, that meant their enemies were planning something.

The gems that despised them were just pissy that they did good for spinels that were in need of it, and that they rescued the spinels that they had intended to abandon or hurt.

Too fucking bad, Oops thought. If you wanted to keep them, maybe you should've gave them what they deserved. At least we're doing good over here.

She turned around the corner, and marched down a corridor, looking at the many closed doors that were other spinel's rooms.

She didn't go in, of course.

She wouldn't waste her time snooping about in someone else's room.

Oops turned around another corner, and was greeted with a blue door. It was probably someone else's room. She huffed in annoyance, and started walking away, before hearing someone call her name.

"Oh my stars, are you the legendary Oops?!"

She whipped around quickly, and came face to face with a strange, blue spinel.

"And who might you be?" Oops asked, cocking her head to the side with a slightly confused and annoyed expression on her face. "I've never seen you around here before."

"I'm Pasty! Oh my stars, you have no idea how much I've wanted to talk to you! I've seen the way you fight, it's incredible, and you're a huge inspiration to me!"

Oops blinked. "Well...alright. Goodbye now." She said, walking away.

"Wait!" Pasty called.

Oops turned around again, groaning in annoyance. "What do you want now, you toothpaste looking bloke?"

"I've seen your fighting, Oops! It's really, really something incredible!" Pasty enthused. "I think you're probably the best collector here! Maybe the best collector ever!"

Oops sighed, putting on a fake smile. "Thank you ever so much, you wonderful, talented, amazing...toothpaste glob. Bye bye, now."

She walked away as fast as she possibly could, not wanting that weird bloke to yell 'wait!' and then have her turn around again to engage in tedious conversation. It was such a pity that she had to be cursed with an interaction with such an imbecile.

Oops sighed, shaking her head, and walked out of the building, doing her rounds around the perimeter of SRS. If a threat was coming, she wanted to be the first to know.

Honestly, she would have appreciated a good fight right about now. There had been no conflict for a while, and that was making her both annoyed and nervous. What if they were planning something?

"You're pacing around again."

Oops growled lowly underneath her breath, but held in her annoyance of wanting to be left alone.

"Yeah. So?" She asked, turning around to face Red with an annoyed expression. "I'm protecting SRS. I'm concerned, and you should be too, bloke. What if they attack right now?"

"I doubt that right at this very second, somebody's going to attack." Red sighed. "You need to relax. Let off some steam. Maybe we could train."

"I'll be getting plenty of training..." Oops growled. "When I'm smashing a ruby's head into the ground."

Red's gaze lingered for a moment, and then she turned around, walking off.

"Oh, by the way, Heli's looking for you."

Oops groaned. "Of course she's looking for me. When is she not looking for me? It's like that stupid bloke is obsessed with me!" She muttered angrily to herself, crossing her arms.

She didn't want to talk to anybody right now, she was angry, stressed, and wanted to be left alone until she was feeling better. What didn't they understand?

She stormed off to her room, slamming her door shut and sitting down on her slab, thinking.

What was the best angle to take a quartz soldier at, if they started advancing towards one of her allies? Most likely from the back, though if she was quick enough, she supposed she could bring an unexpected ambush from the sides.

But what if a jasper came up from behind her, and attacked her?

She supposed she'd have to scan the area around her before going, to make sure that there were no surprises, just fun times.

Oddly enough, planning imaginary battle scenarios in her head was soothing, in a strange way. The thought of having total control over a gem's entire life—or death—just made her feel at ease.

She leaned back against the wall, and closed her eyes, still thinking.

Then she heard an all-too-familiar giggling.

"There you are!" Heli cried, opening the door and peeking into the room with a wide grin, exposing her tooth gap. "I knew you had to be moping around here somewhere!"

Oops groaned loudly in frustration. "Augh, can't you blokes just leave me alone and let me think?!" She snapped, turning her head away in distaste.

Heli stood there for a moment, frowning. She walked towards Oops, and sat down beside her.

"What's wrong?" She asked, putting a hand on her shoulder. "You can tell me."

Oops growled, and then gave a long, exasperated exhale. She turned to Heli, her orange eyes filled with frustration, stress, and a slight anxiety.

"Those enemy blokes are planning something. I can feel it, Heli. Why else would they not be attacking unless they're planning? They're going to ambush us, and we're not going to be ready because we're all just walking around like it's a vacation on the fucking sun!"

Heli gazed into her eyes, and felt her pain radiating off of her. She leaned forward slightly, and squeezed her gloved hand tightly, as if to reassure her that she wasn't going anywhere. She gave a smile, in an attempt to ease her worries.

"I'm sure everything's gonna be fine, Oops! Commander's really smart, we're not gonna just fall like dominos! We'll keep fighting until we die!"

Oops sighed, shaking her head.

"You don't understand a thing, Heli."

She looked down for a moment, frowning once more. "W-Well maybe I don't, but I know that you're really stressed right now, and that's no good!"

Oops looked to her, raising a brow.

Heli got up, offering a hand to her. "Why don't we go somewhere else? A change of scenery? That might make you feel better, right?"

Oops reluctantly took her hand, and they walked, eventually reaching the artificial grass field. Heli sat down, and Oops soon followed.

No words were exchanged, for nothing needed to be said.
