Between

You guys ever see Wicked the musical? Because I often listen to the Wicked soundtrack when writing this and tons of the songs remind me of Kate and Neo. Like Elphaba's love of Fiyero.... man, I got chills.

I was on my back, Neo above me, our clothing had been lost in the heat of the moment.

There was no air between us and we still were not close enough. Neo kept chaining his arms around me in an attempt to pull me into him. To become one.

His tongue was in my mouth and his fingers were massaging the soft flesh on my belly and around my hips. My tongue was in his mouth, and my hands were touching every muscle he had to offer me.

There was no space between the two of us, not even paper thin, and we still were not as close as we wanted to be. I was squirming beneath him as he found that spot on my neck where he could suck on my pulse. Hard. His hands were all over, and his heavy weight pinning me down under him.

It was all skin and heat and wet, sloppy, frantic kisses.

He moved, constantly changing to try and accommodate our position until he found that one motion that just worked.

It was awkward and wonderful and confusing.

Everyone said that this would be one of the most memorable days of a person's life. I believed them. Something like this was hard to forget, especially when it involves the love of your life.

It was like the details all ran together, but stayed vivid at the same time.

I remember hearing him, hearing his cries, wondering if I was doing something wrong. Wondering if he was in pain or enjoying himself.

I remember sweat. His sweat. My sweat. I remember skin. I remember his damp skin against my own, hands on my shoulders, chest to chest, mouth to mouth, teeth and tongue, all contact.

I remember pain. It hurt. He coaxed me through everything easily, taking it slow, making it romantic.

I remember the heat around my face as I blushed red, almost mortified to be seen in such a state. It was vulnerability and freedom at the same time.

I remember breathing. I remember the hitched breaths and sudden gasps that came from both of us, the surprise, occasionally laughing, the enjoyment. He sounded so...hot.

There really is no other word for it. Myself, I sounded strange and strangled, but him... well, Neo could do no wrong. Everything he did was perfect, from his fighting, even to desperate loving noises, he could have no faults. Perfectly imperfect. Human.

I remember kisses and I love yous spread evenly throughout the entire process. His kisses were like fire, down my neck, on my lips, hands, collarbone. Kisses. His kisses. Sweet and hot like lightning. I loved his kisses. They healed me every time and gave me hope.

I remember the holes on his skin, all along his spine, his arms, his chest, his legs. I remember kissing every one of them. I remember him doing the same to me. I remember purposefully seeking out the blemishes on his body that he never dared to show anyone in the computers.

I remember my legs in the way. I remember how he helped me, gently shifting them for me, making me as comfortable as he hoped to be.

Especially for being in a wheelchair, I never imagined something like this would even be possible, but apparently it was very, very possible. Not only possible, but it happened, and it was unforgettable.

As everything ended and our breathing and panting returned to normal, I fought the urge to cover up. Neo didn't bother, either, and pulled me close to him, kissing my temple and matting down my sweaty hair.

We were wrapped up in each other. I was trembling. He looked content.

"I love you, Neo. I really do," It felt so good to say that between breaths.

"I love you," he whispered to me.

I kissed him on his cheek.

"How was it?" He asked with a little smirk. I reddened. Having no experience, I had no clue if that had been good or bad, I just knew it hurt, and that I'd seen more of Neo than I ever thought I would.

"I never thought it would happen," I admitted. I had no idea I was going to be so exhausted, but I really, really wanted to sleep all of a sudden.

I ran my hand down his leg and gave his butt a little squeeze just because I wanted to. Because I could. Because he was there, and I was exhausted. Because both of us could die tomorrow.

He smirked and winked at me, and I buried my face into his neck.

The last thing I remembered before I fell asleep was the first day I'd ever met Neo. He'd already seen me naked. I couldn't help but laugh at the thought.

I woke up still not wearing clothes, tangled in a very exposed Neo, and my gasp startled him awake.

"Good morning," he laughed. I remembered the first time I heard him laugh, the exact moment, when he distracted me so badly with his casual, beautiful laughter.

From being too afraid to look at him, to falling in love... I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd get there.

He kissed me on the forehead and I blushed and snuggled closer to him. I ran my fingers down the ports on his arm and he closed his eyes. He let out a soft groan when I touched where I knew he was sensitive. We stayed there, skin-to-skin for a little while longer before he began to get up.

"You're beautiful," he commented, standing and walking to where he kept his clothes. I tried not to look at him until he was covered, but I couldn't help it.

I was used to other people having to get me dressed, but that was usually Trinity. I'd never had Neo, or any of the guys, actually, have to dress me. Neo was careful and gentle, and I tried to help him help me by holding his shoulders so he could boost me up.

I was completely swimming in his blue knit sweater, but it smelled like him, and it was warm like him. I loved it. He leaned down to eye level to steal a kiss from me before he got his sweater on.

Neo lifted me into the chair gently, so he wouldn't make me more sore than I already was. He kissed me and kissed me again before taking me out for a well-deserved breakfast.

This time, we held hands out in the open for all to see, and as red as my face was due to the pressure on my fingers, I had to be glowing.

I loved his fingers. They were long, and they'd held me through the night. They were firm. I was addicted to his touch now. I never wanted to let him go. His thumb played with my knuckles as we ate.

"Someone's happy," Zeke giggled drunkenly as he looked over at me. "You finally get the guy?" He motioned to Neo.

"Shut up, Zeke," I mumbled, blushing.

"Honey, no one smiles like that unless they've just had some really good--"

"Zeeeeeke!"

Trinity was looking at us now, eyes narrowed at Neo defensively. She had never seen us be affectionate in person. I tried to pull my hand from Neo's, but his fingers were too strong and wouldn't let me hide.

Trinity looked pissed off. Didn't Neo tell her?

All the doubts flooded back in easily, that it was all an elaborate plan just to make fun of me and lead me on.

I tried to pull my hand away again, but Neo's other hand came into play and covered my own.

Amazing how something so simple like hand holding still meant so much to me after everything that happened lately. Neo pulled my gold ring out of his pocket and clipped it around my neck for me. Everything in my vision sorta swam in front of my eyes as I remembered.

"Neo, I'd like to get my father from The Matrix,"

From across the table, I heard Trinity laugh. I looked over at her and saw that she was rolling her eyes. I felt tempted to let go of Neo, but as I felt the ring on my skin, I knew that if I let go, I would break down again.

"I don't want him to come home to see that... I want to be there to explain about what happened to mom."

Neo nodded, "If we time it right, we can get him before he gets to the house. Your mom said he was out of town?"

My throat tightened and I nodded. Neo sighed softly.
"I'm so sorry," he whispered.

"I don't blame you," I muttered. I drowned my emotions in my sloppy meal. "I don't blame you..."

Coda reached over when he saw that I was upset, and he put his head on my shoulder. I wrapped an arm around him. I love that kid.

Bill was adapting very well. His blond curls were already on their way back, even though he wore a hat most of the time. He sat on Neo's other side, and even with only looks, I knew they were saying so much.

Neo had been training him, and he was better than me already. He was either a fast learner, lucky, or he knew just how Neo worked.

After breakfast, Neo and I went to work with Bill. I was there to watch. Trinity was left to plug me in as Bit and Zeke took control of the guys.

She didn't say much, but as she leaned down to hook up the plug in the back of my head, she silenced me with a look and a dangerous lift of her eyebrow.

Message read loud and clear. Stay away from Neo.

Could I even do that anymore?
