Chapter Four-Borders.
Third Person's POV_
The guests one by one left the apartment. Everyone had complimented Janvi. Soon the remaining guests also left. Now it was only Janvi and Akash in the apartment. Janvi was in the kitchen putting away the packets of the take out food. Akash thought he should at least say thanks to her, after all not only she showed up but also didn't act rude or anything.
Akash entered the kitchen and spotted janvi there. He walked up to her.
"Um I wa-" Akash started. Janvi turned around to face him and cut him off mid sentence.
"Listen! Whatever I did there was just my duty as your wife. Nothing else." She said and walked out of the kitchen, leaving Akash behind her.
'Of course.' Akash thought and started doing the remaining dishes. After he was done, he went to there bedroom and lied on the other side of the wire.
It almost felt like there was this border between which can't passed. It will be there, all their life.
*****
It was sunday and Janvi and Akash's parent and friend are coming for a ritual where Janvi has to make a sweet dish for them.
Ganesh and Laila had already arrived to give them company. Ganesh was with Akash and Laila was with Janvi in the kitchen.
"Gimme an apple! I want an apple now!" Laila yells. Janvi throws an apple at laila which hit her head, hard.
"Oww " laila groaned in pain.
"Why did ya hit me?" Laila asked.
"I just simply threw it at you! What can I do if you are such lousy catcher?" Janvi said. Laila glared at Janvi and picked it up from the ground.
"So what are you making?" Laila asked Janvi.
"I am confused between gajar ka halwa and kheer." Janvi let out a sigh.
"What is you favorite sweet?" Laila asked as she took a bite of her apple.
"Roshmalay!" Janvi said.
"Why?" Janvi added, putting her hands on either side of her hips.
"Then make it!" Laila said while munching on her apple. Janvi frowned.
"But I don't know how to make it." Janvi pouted.
"What's you second favorite sweet?" She asked again.
"Shondesh."Janvi answered.
"Are you sure you are punjabi not bengali?" She inquired,
"Mom was bengali." Janvi replied.
"Oh..that's why!"
"And do you know how to make this san-desh?" She asked, janvi rolled her eyes on laila's pronunciation of Shondesh.
"First of all it Shondesh, not sandesh and second, yeah I know how to make it!" Janvi said.
"Cool! Let's get started then!" Janvi nodded and went to the fridge to bring out the milk.
*****
"So everything's going fine between you two?" Ganesh asked Akash. Akash nodded.
"Um yeah!" Akash lied. He certainly knew nothing was fine between him and Janvi, and it will never.
"Your face is saying otherwise!" Ganesh said seriously. Akash couldn't lie to him. Ganesh was his best pal from their childhood.
Akash let out a sigh.
"You know things can't be fine between us." Akash admitted.
"You know I'll never try to solve the differences between us and somethings telling she isn't that keen too." Akash poured his heart to Ganesh, who listened carefully and didn't utter a single word.
"But you have to try! If she isn't trying, you have to try! Because you have to spend the rest of your life together!" Ganesh said, while Akash listened.
Akash took a deep breathe and closed his eyes.

"This looks amazing! Lemme try one!" Laila whined. Janvi laughed at her friend's childishness and gave her piece while janvi chopped some almonds to garnish the shondesh.
"Its yummmm!" Laila moaned in delight and a smile of satisfaction was on janvi's lips.
Laila saw something on janvi's wrist, which caught her attention.
"Janvi what is it?" Laila asked.
"What?" Janvi questioned back.
"This mark on your wrist." Laila said while pointing towards Janvi's wrist. Janvi looked at her wrist and saw that it had purplish mark on it.
"Woh-" Janvi fumbled on her words.
"Did he do something?" Laila asked, her nostrils were flaring.
"No no!" Janvi immedietly protested. Laila seemed to calm down a little.
"Then what is it?" She asked.
"Yesterday night, I was boiling water and when I went to lift it, the utensil fell on my wrist. Hence the mark!" Janvi lied and laila rolled her eyes.
"God janvi! Can't you be a little more careful?" Laila scolded her.
"Solly laila aunty!" Janvi apologized in a baby voice.
"Did you apply ointment on it?" Laila asked her.
"Well I just got know about it so.." janvi shook her head.
"Go bring the first aid box, while I taste another!" Laila said as she took another shondesh in her hand.
"Oye bhukkar (glutton) don't finish it all by yourself!" Janvi joked. Laika didn't answer as she was too much engrossed on indulging the shondesh.
As Janvi entered the room, Ganesh and Akash stopped talking. Ganesh turned to janvi and smiled at her, which janvi gladly returned.
"Hello bhabhi! How are you?" He asked Janvi.
"I am good! How are you?" Janvi asked him back.
"Well I'll be good, if I find a wife like you. But I guess no one is as lucky as Akash" janvi almost grimaced at the mention of Akash, but she smiled and took the first aid box.
"Woah babhi how did that happened?" Ganesh asked while pointing at the mark on Janvi's wrist.
Akash too noticed it and was extremely guilty.
"That's what happens when a hot utensil falls on your wrist!" Janvi said while fake chuckling and leaves the room.
Ganesh noticed the color drain out of Akash's face.
"That happened because of you, right?" Ganesh asked akash, he slowing nodding.
"Are you fucking serious?" Ganesh said to Akash.
"You have actually became a monster!" Ganesh says with pure disgust in his voice.

Janvi's POV_
I had wore full sleeved salwar kameez to hide the mark on my wrist.
Akash's and my parents came together. I took their blessing by touching their feet.
"Awh look how pretty my daughter in law is!" Aunty said and I blushed. All of them started laughing. I hope not on me.
I went to the kitchen dragging Laila at me, who was snickering all the time.
"Awh look how pretty my daughter in law is!" Laila mimicked aunty ji and I couldn't help but chuckle. I took the tray of the sweet and went to the living room, where everyone was seated.
"Isn't it shondesh?" Uncle ji asked. I nodded and gave him a bowl. Everyone took it and ate.
"This is really tasty!" Aunty said and uncle hummed in response. I smiled at their reaction.
"This is really awesome beta!" Dad praised and I grin.
"Yeah bhabi! This is awesome!" Ganesh said as he stuffed another shondesh in his mouth. Laila wasnt even giving her mouth time to breathe as she kept stuffing one after one.
Now everyone's attention turned to akash. He saw everyone staring at him and stopped chewing.
"This is nice." He finally said. Honestly I couldn't care less about his taste, all that mattered to me was that my family, 'new' family and friends liked it.
How's the chapter and the new cover?
