Chapter 19. She hates me...

"She hates me..."

"She doesn't hate you. She's just upset with the fact that you nearly killed her. Give her some time. Why don't you ask her for dinner tonight?" Sideswipe suggested. I gave a small nod and walked up Amethyst. "Thyst?" She glanced at me. "You'd like to have dinner with me tonight?" I asked. "No." She turned around and walked off. I glanced at my brother for some advice but he didn't know either what to do. I followed Amethyst and grabbed her wrist. "Listen, I am sorry for what happened. It was not my intention to piss you off or whatever. Can you please forgive me?" I asked. She snorted and brushed some tears off her face. "Just have dinner with me tonight, alright?" I asked. Amethyst looked at me again as if she wasn't sure what do but agreed hesitantly. "Fine..." she sulked.

That night at 7 PM, I drove towards a restaurant. Amethyst hadn't been talking to me or even looked at me. She's upset and I get it, after all, I nearly killed her. Inside, she didn't say anything either. "I know you're upset and I get it. I hurt your feelings and broke your trust. I shouldn't have done it," I said. Thyst glanced at me and I saw her thinking. "It's fine..." she replied after a long silence. "You are still upset... it was wrong," I mumbled and grasped her hand. "It's fine..." she replied again. I decided to stop about this subject and handed her the card. She still looked miserable and sad. I sighed softly and took the card from her after she had picked something of the menu. As soon as we finished, we went out for a little walk. I held her hand as we walked over the streets.

We got some ice cream before walked back to his alt-mode. Before I hopped in, Sunstreaker hugged me and tightly wrapped his arms around me. "I do care about you... I am sorry," he mumbled. "It's arlght. Really, just drop it, okay?" I asked. He gave a small nod and walked around his alt-mode hopping in. He brought me back to base and dropped me off at my room. Although, I wasn't planning to go to sleep. In stead, I sneaked out of my room again and headed for the training room. I looked through some cabinets and found a wooden stick that people use to practice sword fighting with. I assumed it was abounded by the twins after they somehow got their swords. I took one out and started to do some of the moves I taught myself.

The next following weeks, I came here at night or early in the morning to practice. This time, in my third attempt I made sure that the twins don't figure it out again. Week 2 and I was trying to attempt a very difficult move. As I attempted it for the second time, I lost my balance and fell quite hard. All the air was knocked out of my lungs. I sat up, holding my ribs, which were so painful. I sprained my ankle as well.
I decided it was enough for today and returned back to my room, limping.

The next morning, my ankle was swollen and had turned a dark purple color. I sucked in a breath and got up, limping. It took me longer than usual to get fully dressed. As I finally finished, I headed for the cafeteria where I would meet the twins. "Morning, sweetspark," Sideswipe kissed my head and so did Sunstreaker before they sat down and started eating.

"We are going for a patrol, is there some you'd like to hang out with?" Sunstreaker asked carefully. I knew why he asked. "Yeah, Jolt," I replied. "I think he's performing surgery, but you can try," Sideswipe stated. I gave a small nod and sat back.

An hour later, I was limping towards the medbay and walked up to the desk. "Hi, Uhm, is Jolt here at the moment?" I asked. "You don't have an appointment?" The woman asked. "No, I sprained my ankle really badly and my broken ribs hurt like hell." She hummed, "you can sit down and wait." She said. I sat down and waited. A man walked up to after ten minutes of waiting.

"Hi, my name Dr. Jillian Brown," he said and gestured me to follow him. "What happened to you?" He asked. "I fell, hurt my already broken ribs and sprained my ankle badly," I said. He gestured to me to sit down on the bed. I removed my shirt and I flinched. "I think we need to make a new X-ray. This section here looks pretty bad. I want to make sure that there aren't pieces of bone floating around. Otherwise, you need to go into surgery to get that fixed," he said. I gave a small nod.

Dr. Brown did some tests with ankle as well. He stepped back. He turned away and grabbed a few things. At that moment, Ratchet walked in to grab something. He hadn't expected me to be here nor Dr. Brown. "Amethyst," he said, shutting the door. "She needs an X-ray... and maybe for her ankle too," Brown said. "I will take it from here, if you can check up on the patient in room Z1.098," Ratchet said. Dr. Brown left.

"What happened, Amethyst?" He sighed, gesturing to me to lay down. "I fell." He hummed and looked at my ribs again. "Where are the twins?" He asked. "Duty."
"Can I get a more detailed story of what happened?" He asked. "I was stupid... ignored your advice and ended up like this. I thought it was fine," I muttered. "Maybe you should let me tell if you're fine or not, otherwise I need to give you a VIP card," he mocked. I chuckled.

Ratchet made an X-ray of my chest again and patched my ankle. "Thanks, Ratchet," I said, sitting up. "Why don't you stay here?" He asked. "Here? Can't I come with you? Are you busy?" I asked. "Yes and no." He removed his gloves. "Please?"

"Are you going to listen to my advice?" He asked. I nodded and smiled innocently. "Come on then." I followed him to his office and sat in front of him. "I was curious about something..." He hummed with some files. "I read in some books... I have visited the public library a lot in the winter, but Uhm... I read a book about biomedical technology..."

Ratchet looked up from his work while I grabbed my note book. "I was bored and designed this for people with rheumatism or osteoarthritis... a medicine extracted from different plants. Could this theoretically work?" I asked, handing him my notebook. He flipped through some pages. "Well... you're not stupid," he said, looking up. "I like to learn, keep myself occupied. I found other ways to educate myself."

"I defined my notebook in sections. Blue is combat/guns, green is medical stuff, yellow is languages, purple is cooking, green is natural disasters, pink is art and orange is a mixture of crimes, thinks I have witnessed. And the last few pages are some doodles I made," I explained as he looked through it. "You're talented in many ways and no one ever acknowledged it. You didn't deserve to be treated like you were at the Chinese restaurant," he said. I shrugged, "it's fine. I am used to get treated like that."

"You know what, I will do some research myself. I have a big network with different hospitals all around the state so maybe we can use this," he said. He took some photos before handing it back to me. I felt proud someone gave me a compliment.
