The Temple
I left a note for my mother when Apollo and I left early that morning.
Mom,
We are going to the temple and I will visit soon. Take care of Eris for me. I hope I can visit within a month or so. I'll see you when I can.
Adrasteia
“Ready to go?” Apollo asked.
“I guess. When will we get to the temple.”
“Only an hour or two. Are you sure you're okay.” He put his hand on my shoulder and I realized that it was kind of well, I don't know, around me.
“I just don't like leaving my mom like this. It's just...”
“I know. Come on. We should get going.” I nodded and got ready to walk.
“Okay.” I walked away not caring that I left his arm just in midair and I didn't want to look just in case the look on his face was sad. I wouldn't be able to take it.
“Please don't walk too fast.” I slowed. But I wanted just to get there so we could go back to Olympus.
“Sorry.”
“It's okay. Come on.” He grabbed my hand and pulled me along. I guess I wasn't the only one feeling like they wanted to hurry home. But even though I was walking faster than him I held on fast to his hand. Having one last bit of comfort.
“Okay.”

We reached the temple quickly. Not many people were there. I was allowed to enter the room where I could talk to the oracle. It was a coffin in the center of the room. I stopped after a few steps into the room. I oracle spoke in a soft, creepy, voice. Green smoke filled the room and it was hard to see.
“You shall save the God you love, but you might not prevail in their love. You shall almost lose all you have and if you do not stand up you shall lose him. Death shall tell you that you will never be true to anything and the Gods may turn. Life will prevail and so shall Olympus.” I then realized I was shaking. The God associated with love was probably, unfortunately, Apollo. I slowly walked out of the room. I felt tears coming to my eyes. Apollo held my arm.
“Are you okay?” I shook my head. He took my hand and led me to the steps outside and we sat down. I buried my head in his shoulder and cried. He smoothed my hair softly.
“What did the oracle say that scared you?” I sniffled and cleared my throat.
“Nothing... Different...From... Olympus... Prophecy... Too... Much...To... Handle...” He nodded and held me tighter.
“It will be okay. Just because it's a lot to handle doesn't mean it's not going to be okay.” He put his free arm around me. I sobbed some more.
“Aphrodite... Warned... Me... Did... You... Read... The... Prophecy?” He sighed. And I could tell he had.
“Yes, and if you're the one,” He sighed again, “I wonder who the God is that will fall in love with you... What, what did Aphrodite say?” I moved away from him and turned away. He didn't get it. The god was probably him!
“Nothing. We, uh, better get going.” I wiped my eyes and got up. He followed me quickly and grabbed my arm.
“Adrasteia,” He spun me around, “what's wrong?”
“Nothing.” I looked down, “Why do you care?”
“I just do.” He was studying my face, “Are you ready to go back to Olympus?”
“Yes. Let's go.”
“All right. Take my hand. I haven't been able to completely get the hang of this but I'll get us there.” The bright light and I found myself in the throne room. No one was there so I hurried to my bathroom and washed up before dinner without a backward glance at Apollo. I was glad not to see his hurt face. What was wrong with me?
