E P I S O D E - 2
"Episode 2 - Cold blooded killer."
I waited and counted my heart beat and their footsteps. There were three of them. Black dress shoes peeked through and a head with black hair appeared.
The only thing I felt was the first recoil of the bullet and then a second one. The silencer absorbed the loud sound the gun would have made.
The bullet tore through the closed air with speed that's invisible to human eyes and broke in to the skulls. It gathered up soft brain matter and shattered through the other before embedding themselves in the back wall.
Two bullets. Two bodies.
"FUCK." The third perpetrator quickly hit behind the concrete wall like mine at the edge of the hall way. Damon came out just in time to find two bodies land on ground with a loud thud. Blood poured out of one's forehead and one's temple.
My soul felt whole again at the sight of blood. I was a killer and I was not ashamed of it. I knew no one would understand me so I didn't explain myself to them. I didn't need to.
Crouching down on my knees, I kept my hands stretched. I heard him speak in Russian, probably over their own intercom. I finally allowed the Captain screaming in my ear to fully register.
"Two down, one to go." I whispered into my writs.
"FOR FUCK SAKE WOLF. WE. ARE. ON OUR WAY." He was pissed but I couldn't let him distract me. If I was one semi second too late to reposition the gun, there would have been one dead body instead of two.
The Russian sore and turned to fired one round before Damon capped him in his arm and he screamed, dropping the gun. We both ran towards him, Damon quickly kicked his gun out of reach and pointed his own to the guy's head.
"Give me a reason." Damon might have a playboy personality but he was good at his job.
He swore in Russian, clutching his wounds with his ass planted to the floor. I made sure the hallways were clear before stepping over the bodies to get to the elevator that was moving. Lifting my wrist piece again I spoke into it.
"Cap, are you on the elevator."
"YES. Don't shoot you son of a bitch." I'd heard worse. I waited on high alert, making sure the stairway were empty too.
The elevator dinged, doors opened to reveal Julian, Asher and Braxton. Julian's angry eyes landed on the wall that had brain matter clinging to it, crimson splatter that tainted the white and gold design.
I sighed, feeling the high coming off. At one point in my life, I tried to used girls to reach that peak and after my retirement, some recreational drugs mixed with alcohol but nothing worked.
Nothing sufficed that thrust of tranquillity, so I didn't even try anymore. Only a kill could get me there, the thrill of being shot, the smell of blood, the feeling of success.
"What the fuck is WRONG with you." Julian couldn't let the past go. He was a lieutenant and he still thought of himself that way and we were his soldiers.
"No one knew the pass code to this floor other than us for tonight. We changed it ourselves. Even the security guards didn't know. Considering you were all at your posts, there was only one other option." I explained.
As a SEAL, we were not only trained physically but mentally too. We had to think twice as fast, forming solid assumptions from the evidence around us. I concluded that they were intruders and sometimes, you just had to go with your gut. But from the Cap's expression, he had other ideas.
"You listen to me." He was in my face, coming up shorter only by a couple of inches. "You think this is one of your black ops mission, kill and disappear."
"No, I had to protect my package and I did. Damon kept him alive and you can get your information from him." I explained before walking away from him. He looked like he wanted to hit me but I didn't care about what he thought of me.
The man with the overgrown potbelly walked out of the suit with a couple of girls following behind him. They managed to put some thigh length robes on, some half open, some tightly tied around the waist.
Couple of them were blonde and some where brunette but they were all under twenty. Their brown and blue eyes stared at the dead bodies with fear. The red carpet soaked up the crimson blood.
"It's all taken care of." I inclined my head towards him, holstering my weapon. "Are we still attending the meeting?" I wondered, checking my watch.
"HELL NO." Mason Capone walked towards Cap. "You're not very good at your job, are you?" I turned to find the prideful Cap getting chewed down by a criminal mob boss. I smirked at the irony. Capones' had their own security but his older brother was killed nearly a year and a half ago by another Mafia boss.
Apparently, they infiltrated their security and since then the Capone's been hiring protection instead of full time security. Clearly it wasn't a good idea.
"What happened?" Capone ordered.
"The Russian mafia hacked the damn security centre of the hotel and got the code for this floor." Asher had his phone to his other ear and recited whatever Naomi, the hacker employed by Joel, was feeding him.
"For fuck sake, you kill one of their nephews and they can't look past that." He grumbled before turning and making his way back to his suit. I couldn't help the smile that threatened to invade my lips. "Accidentally might I add."
The guy was a bastard but he was a funny bastard.
"You follow me." He pointed at me. I looked at the guys waiting around the bodies. I wondered if the Law and Enforcement would get involved but I highly doubted it. Sighing, I brushed past the tall ladies who were itching to go home and followed the Mob Boss. I wanted to laugh at the irony.
The suit was surreal that looked over the beautiful horizon of Miami. I could only dream of this kind of lifestyle that these people were born into. Growing up I always heard, work hard and you can achieve whatever you aim for. I've seen people work sixteen hours a day but still couldn't accumulate enough to get by.
What does say about the world?
Shaking my head, I followed him through open planning lounge with grey chic sofa set and silver accent coffee tables and steel branch chandelier that hung over the dining table on the far that had another view but this time, it was of the city.
"Sit." The study room also held a modern futuristic essence. I sat down opposite him, the grey glass table separated us. My black leather seat swallowed me whole. "You killed those two bastards, didn't you?"
I nodded my head in confirmation.
"You were a Navy Seal?" He poured us both two glasses of brown liquor from one of those overpriced designer crystal bottles.
"You want a drink?" I shook my head, leaning back.
"You don't speak much, do you?" He gulped down his part and took mine in his hand.
"Is there something you want from me Mr. Capone?" I tried not to read too much into his meeting.
"Work for me. You're a smart man, you've figured it out." He smirked. He wasn't that stupid after all. I guess being a mob boss needed some type of brain behind that skull.
"I already have a job." Which I hated. "I'm not a bodyguard."
"But you're a killer." I was surprised by his observation skills or did someone brief him on us. "You like to kill?"
"It's what I have to do."
"Well, I need a killer. I need someone who can shoot without thinking." He leaned back in his chair.
"I'm not a mercenary." But I was a damn good shooter.
"I'm not asking you to be one. You shoot whoever shoots as me." He smirked.
"I told you, I'm not a bodyguard." I was losing interest quickly.
"Head of security then? You can get others to guard me." I liked that idea. Bossing others around and shooting whenever there was some action. I was good at logistics. I'd be going from protector to working for a criminal but who really cared? "Plus you get to kill whoever and whenever you want?"
"What's the pay?" He smiled wide and leaned forward in his seat and crossed his arms over the table.
"Millions." I gulped. I once begged for money and now he was offering me millions to do what I was good at. Who was I to kick fate in the face?
"Deal."
