Chapter 23
Naruto was fuming he was not quite happy that Ebisu was going to be his trainer and not Kakashi.
" No, no, no, not that guy," Naruto protested as his arm started to shake.
" He's a what?" Kakashi asked.
" What did you call him?" Aceso asked.
" You're kidding me!" Naruto exclaimed. " Of all the guys you could've picked, you picked this guy to train me? What a joke! He's weaker than I am."
" What makes you say that?" Kakashi asked.
" I'm serious," Naruto exploded as he looked back at the other two. " You should have seen him. He saw my Harem Jutsu once and he fell to pieces."
" Oh, no!" Ebisu started to shake in horror. " Not that again." He then jolted forward and put a hand on Naruto's mouth and held an arm back.
" Harem Jutsu," Aceso repeated as she held the clipboard closer.
" Oh, it's nothing, just a little joke we shared" Ebisu explained as Naruto shouted into his hand. " Haha." He then whispered to Naruto.
" Well, well, I had no idea you two were acquainted," Kakashi said.
" Yes, we go way back," Ebisu laughed as he patted Naruto on the head, Naruto looked ready to kill Ebisu.
" I still don't get why it has to be him?" Naruto grumbled. " I mean, anybody else."
" Look, you!" Ebisu scolded as he took his hand off Naruto's head. " If it hadn't been for Kakashi, who asked me this favor, I would never consider training you.
" Yeah, well then don't!" Naruto suggested.
" Hey, hey, come on, you two, let's calm down," Kakashi requested as he walked forward and knelt beside Naruto and started to whisper, he then stood back up. " Anyway, Naruto, I've got to say that of the three Genin in Squad 7, you're the one whose basic skills need the most work. That's what I want you to focus on this time around."
" Wait! Hold on a second!" Naruto shouted. " Are you honestly saying I'm not as good as Sasuke or Sakura?"
" Naruto," Kakashi sighed. " No matter how many skills you master, the fundamentals are well, fundamental and yours could be improved. So if you really want to become strong then just be quiet and pay attention. All right, Ebisu Sensei, I leave him in your capable hands."
" I'll do what I can," Ebisu said as Kakashi and Aceso started to walk away.
" Train hard brother," Aceso advised as she looked back at him.
" Are you going to go check on Sasuke?" Kakashi asked.
" He's the next patient I was planning to see," Aceso answered as she looked up at him.
" I just came from his room," Kakashi informed. " He is getting better, should be moved in a few days."
" Thanks, Dad," Aceso nodded as she turned down a hallway. She stopped and knocked on the door.
" Tenten, may I come in?" Aceso asked.
" Yes, Ma'am," Tenten answered, Aceso opened the door to find Tenten sitting up in her hospital bed.
" How are you feeling?" Aceso asked as she closed the door.
" A lot better than yesterday," Tenten answered as Aceso walked over. " That girl was brutal."
" I'm sure if it weren't for her fan and her wind Jutsu then you could have definitely beat her," Aceso said as she put her hand on Tenten's back. " You have a fantastic aim."
" Have you released anyone yet?" Tenten asked as Aceso jotted a couple of things on her clipboard.
" Kiba and Akamaru," Aceso answered. " Oh, and Choji."
Tenten then looked out the window sadly. " Is it true what they say about Rock Lee?"
" Huh?" Aceso asked as she looked up.
" That he is done being a Shinobi?" Tenten asked.
" He's more on a hiatus," Aceso answered. " He won't be able to return to training right away, it will be a month or two before he can."
" Is he awake?" Tenten asked.
" Not yet," Aceso answered. "Been out cold since his battle with Gaara." She looked out the window slowly. " It's going to alright Tenten. Can you stand up for me?"
" How was his battle with Gaara?" Tenten asked as she stood up.
" Hold your arms out in a T," Aceso instructed, Tenten did as she was told. " It was a good battle. But very brutal."
" Was he as rough as Temari?" Tenten asked.
" Rougher," Aceso answered. " Tell me on a scale of 1-10, one being the least and ten being the greatest on pain."
" I...I would give it a six," Tenten answered as she sat down.
" Alright, I am going to get you some medicine," Aceso answered. " I won't be too long."
" Take your time," Tenten asked. " Neji said he would stop by today."
" Very well then," Aceso nodded with a smile. She left the room and started to make her way to the next patient. She made her way down the hall and entered a room. In the bed laid a boy with bushy eyebrows. The patient was put on stabilized breathing. Aceso closed the door and walked over to the bed. She put her hand on his arm and leg and made some notes. She then turned around and walked over to the counter, she opened the cabinets and reached for some supplies.
" Kid?" a voice asked. She turned to see Gai-Sensei standing in the doorway.
" Papa," Aceso greeted as she turned around to look at him. " My apologies, I didn't hear the door open."
" How is he?" Gai asked as he looked at Lee.
" His breathing has gotten better," Aceso answered. " He should be coming around by tomorrow."
" This is all my fault!" Gai cried as tears streamed down his cheeks. " I have pushed him too hard."
" This is not your fault Papa," Aceso said. " This is just a possible result of a battle."
" I pushed him too hard," Gai cried.
" Don't be so hard on yourself," Aceso pleaded. " You wanted to be an amazing teacher for Lee, and Lee wanted to push himself to be a splendid ninja. And you both are splendid. Just sometimes things take a turn."
" Thank you, Aceso," Gai cried. " I will be out training with Neji...And Tenten?"
" I am returning to her room soon to give her medicine, but she says Neji will be visiting soon, afterward she can check out of the hospital," Aceso explained.
" Thank you," Gai thanked. " I want to know when Lee wakes up, I want to be the first one notified." He then left the room.

The next day Aceso was in her room on the top floor. Her room was bigger than most hospital rooms, but only because she permanently lived there. There was a basic bathroom, a bed, a desk, a chair, and a few personal items. Including clothing of course. She left her room and headed down to the front desk, she was ready to start her day.
" We need to see Aceso," she heard a voice as she got closer.
" Only seven am and I am already being requested," Aceso groaned as she rubbed her eyes.
" I'm sorry, I don't have a doctor named Aceso," the front desk lady said.
" What do you mean you don't have a doctor named Aceso?" another person demanded, they were female.
" Can you guys pipe it down?" Aceso requested as she walked over to the desk, still rubbing her eyes. "It's only 7 in the morning." She removed her hand to see the receptionist and the Sand Ninja.
" Sorry, Doctor Matsuba," the lady apologized. " Do you recall having a doctor Aceso?"
" I'm Doctor Aceso," Aceso said glaring at the lady. " Aceso Matsuba." She opened her mouth as the color rose to her cheeks. " Don't bother." She looked at the sand ninja. " Is there something I can do for you three?"
" Doctor?" Kankuro asked. " Matsuda!? So you were the one they were calling for a couple of days ago??"
" Well, yeah," Aceso said as she looked at him. " Is everything alright?"
" Aren't you a little young to be a doctor?" Temari asked.
" On a normal person...yes," Aceso nodded. " But I live here, so it would bound to happen sooner or later."
"We need medicine," Gaara said.
" Can you please explain, why?" Aceso asked.
"Bodies are still recovering from the preliminaries and the second phase of the Chunin exams," Kankuro explained. " My immune system let a cold slip in." Aceso placed a hand on his forehead. " Hey!"
" You do have a bit of a fever," Aceso determined as she removed her hand. " I will prescribe you a low dosage of cold medicine, and you will be back up to speed in two days." She then turned to the front desk and picked up her clipboard. " I shall be right back with your medicine."
" Doctor Matsuba?" Kankuro asked.
" Yes, Kankuro?" Aceso asked as she turned around.
" Make it quick," Kankuro requested.
" Just because of your request, I will go slower," Aceso said as turned back and went down the hall, she heard Temari laugh. Aceso grabbed the medicine and returned to the front where the Sand Villagers were waiting.
" Take a dose every six hours," Aceso requested as she held it out. " If your symptoms get worse, come see me and ask for Doctor Matsuba."
" Thanks, Aceso," Temari said before the three left.
Later that day some patients had been moved and Aceso was checking upon them. She entered Sasuke's room to find him angrily glaring at the ceiling.
" Sasuke?" Aceso asked as closed the door. " How are you feeling?"
" I'm weak," Sasuke said angrily. " At this rate, I will never get as strong as I need to be."
" Don't say never," Aceso advised as she gently sat him up. " You fought wonderfully at the preliminaries."
" I barely beat that guy," Sasuke huffed as Aceso put the stethoscope in her ears.
" You did just become a Genin not too long ago," Aceso reminded him. " I need you to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth, big breaths." She put the stethoscope on Sasuke, listening to how he was breathing.
" You became Genin at 7," Sasuke reminded her. " And you're a Jonin as well and you're only 12."
" I'm a Jonin medical ninja I don't have much skill in the field as you," Aceso reminded him as she moved to the back. " I haven't improved. But you are already a splendid ninja, you are going to get much stronger." She put it on his back and he did the same breathing.
" What if I can't get strong enough? This curse mark is just going to slow me down," Sasuke said as she took the stethoscope out of her ears.
" It took Naruto three times to pass the graduation exams," Aceso reminded him. " If he can become a ninja then you can get stronger."
" And the curse mark?" Sasuke asked as she grabbed a thing off the wall.
" Kakashi sealed it right?" Aceso asked as she walked to the side of him. She clicked the flashlight and looked into his ear.
" He says it the seal will stay, by only how strong I am, by the power of my will. If it ever weakens it will be broken," Sasuke explained.
" Then I guess you gotta get stronger," Aceso said. " But don't train till I dismiss you from the hospital. You are not quite ready to get to training right away."
" What about the Chunin exams?" Sasuke asked.
" The third phase starts in a month," Aceso answered. " Kakashi will be training you."
" Naruto as well?" Sasuke asked.
" Just you," Aceso as she moved on to check his throat, " The third phase you will display your abilities to people from all over, coming to see you fight in the tournament. The judges are Lord Hokage, Kakzakage, and the proctors and I think a few others, but I forgot."
" A tournament?" Sasuke asked as Aceso jotted onto her clipboard.
" Yes," Aceso answered.
" Who all made it past the preliminaries?" Sasuke asked.
" You, Dose from the Sound Village, all the Sand village ninja, Shikamaru, Shino, Neji, Gaara, and Naruto," Aceso answered.
" Do I get to fight Naruto?" Sasuke smirked.
" Gaara," Aceso corrected, Sasuke gasped and his eyes went wide. " Train hard and I know you to be able to beat him." She then finished up on Sasuke. " I am going to go to another room, if you need anything, just ask. Now get some rest."
" But Aceso," Sasuke protested.
" To get stronger you need rest as much as you need training," Aceso informed. She then left the room and made her way to a couple of others, she did surgery and then made her way into Lee's room. It was getting late, the sun was at a beautiful spot of the afternoon. She entered the room, he was off the ventilation like Sasuke, as well has been moved. The sun shined nicely on him, she went over and checked his vitals. She then went over to the cabinets and pulled out a few supplies.
" Where am I?" a weak voice asked after a few minutes. " Is this heaven?" It was Lee's voice. " Woah, the angels are much prettier in heaven than I thought they would be."
" Lee?" Aceso asked as she turned around, fighting to keep the heat down on her cheeks. " You aren't dead." His face grew a bright red.
" Where am I?" Lee asked.
" The hospital," Aceso answered.
" What!?" Lee demanded as he shot up. " Ahhh!" He cried out as he went back down.
" Easy!" Aceso ordered as she rushed over and put her hands on his chest, and started to heal him a little more. " You need to take it easier Lee."
" What happened?" Lee asked as he looked at her hands. " With me and Gaara?"
" You fought beautifully," Aceso answered.
" Did I win?" Lee asked. She shook her head, he became a bit sad. " How bad is it?" She looked at his face as she removed her hands. " My injuries."
" They are pretty serious," Aceso answered. " Fracture bones, muscles tears, I don't think I need to go on."
" How soon can I resume training? I mustn't let my youth go to waste!" Lee smiled as his eyes sparkled, Aceso was surprised, just waking up and already smiling.
" It will be about a month or two," Aceso answered.
" A month!" Lee exclaimed. " Or two! Why not sooner?"
" I'm not quite strong enough to perform the surgery," Aceso answered. " But give me a month and I will be ready. I made a promise that I will always heal you and I shall keep that promise."
" Does it have to be a month?" Lee asked.
" Or two," Aceso answered. " Just be patient, as soon as the surgery is done, you will be able to resume training about three days afterward."
" Three days?" Lee asked.
" It's a surgery," Aceso reminded him as she walked away. " I need to be stronger in order to perform it."
" You already are embracing your youth," Lee said. " And you are already strong."
" Not strong enough," Aceso shook her head. " If the surgery isn't done properly, the results will be horrible." She then went back over, sat down, and began to apply some crushed herbs along his arm.
" I have faith in you," Lee said.
" You do?" Aceso asked as she looked at him.
" With all my heart!" Lee exclaimed.
" All your heart?" Aceso asked as she tilted her head. Lee weakly gave her a thumbs up on his other hand.
" All my heart," Lee smiled more.
" Kid!" a voice exclaimed as the door flew open. "How is he?"
" Gai-Sensei!" Lee cheered as Aceso looked back to see the man.
" Lee!" Gai cried running over to the side.
" I will give you two some alone time," Aceso smiled as she stood up.
" Did you tell him?" Gai asked.
" I believe that is up to you to tell him," Aceso said. " He is your student."
" Tell me what?" Lee asked.
" Be careful with your words Gai-sensei," Aceso requested as she left the room.
****
Later that night Aceso was on the roof, she was folding clothes as the full moon shined gently upon the village. There was a gentle breeze, she was enjoying the quiet. She then heard an explosion and screaming, she looked over to see the smoke coming up from a roof. She walked over to the edge, to try to get a closer look.
" What's going on?" Aceso asked. " Even Naruto isn't up this late...well not normally." She then looked down to see very few people on the street and leaves gently blowing past.
" What are you doing awake?" a voice asked, she turned to see Gaara right behind her.
" Where did you come from?" Aceso asked she looked down at the sheet in her hands.
" Doesn't matter," Gaara answered. " What are you doing awake?"
" Laundry," Aceso answered. " Why are you awake?"
" Doesn't matter," Gaara huffed. " You wanna know what they say about a full moon?"
" Sure," Aceso answered as she went around him and hung up the sheet.
" That its blood boils," Gaara answered darkly.
" I heard different," Aceso answered. " Who did you hear that from?"
" What were you told about a full moon?" Gaara asked.
" That it shines love down on us," Aceso answered. " When it is full, we can see the whole heart."
" That's ridiculous," Gaara shook his head.
" I think that the blood boiling is ridiculous," Aceso said as she hung up more sheets.
" Why would it shine love?" Gaara asked as he touched the word on his forehead.
"Why would the moon's blood boil when it's full?" Aceso asked. " The moon always shines love. Even when it's a new moon."
" Ridiculous," Gaara denied.
" A full moon is way too pretty to be full of angry boiling blood," Aceso argued.
" You think it's pretty?" Gaara scolded.
" Yeah," Aceso smiled. " I like the way it gives off light, and how it reflects off the water. Absolutely stunning." She looked over to see him standing there, no longer as angry as when he first appeared. " If you are going to stay up here, you might as well help me do the laundry." Gaara looked at the baskets on the ground, one had folded sheets, while the other had ones that needed to be hung up.
" No," Gaara denied as he turned around.
" Ok," Aceso breathed as Gaara hopped on the edge.
" Fine," Gaara changed his mind and hopped back down on the roof.
" Thank you, Gaara," Aceso beamed.
" You owe me," Gaara huffed.
" Medicine?" Aceso asked. " Is Kankuro alright?"
" He's feeling better," Gaara answered. " Not that I care." The two did the laundry for an hour or so, then the two both sat on the edge looking at the moon.
" What else have you heard about a full moon?" Gaara asked.
" It's a friend," Aceso answered. " Well, my friend at least."
" You can't friend the moon," Gaara huffed.
" You can if you want to," Aceso disagreed. " I did, and now I'm not so lonely."
" You have a brother," Gaara reminded.
" Not until recently," Aceso answered. " Me and Naruto became siblings the day you and your siblings came to the village." Gaara didn't respond. " I'm glad he adopted me as his sister, I didn't really have a family before, and now I do."
" Is that why you live in the hospital?" Gaara asked. She nodded. She then gasped. " Hm?"
" It's a shooting star!" Aceso exclaimed, she then closed her eyes and started to make a wish.
"What are you doing?" Gaara asked he looked up to see a light shooting across the sky.
" Making a wish," Aceso answered as she looked at him. " It's a shooting star, you're supposed to make wishes on them when you see one."
" Then I wish I can kill everyone," Gaara wished.
" Don't say it loud," Aceso said. " If you say it loud, then it won't come true."
" That's a complete lie," Gaara disagreed. " My dream will come true."
" Not if you say it loud," Aceso disagreed.
" Whatever," Gaara grunted.
" Thank you for your help Gaara," Aceso thanked him. " I would have been up all night doing it, and I have a surgery in the morning." He glanced over at her, the moon was shining, it was covering her like a blanket. She was staring straight at the moon as if she found comfort in it. He groaned, grabbed his head and looked away. " Are you alright?" Without a word he got up and left her alone on the moon. Gaara made it back to where he was staying. He wanted to kill her, but he couldn't bring himself to do it.
" Gaara?" Temari asked as she looked out the window. " Where have you been?"
" None of your business," Gaara hissed.
