Chapter 92
I shrugged when Sam got up from his seat and walked off. "Where are you going?" I asked, confused. "Come on, we're gonna check all five-star hotels in the area," Sam said, walking away; Dean and I followed him. We went through two Hotels. When I read a familiar face in the check-in book, I nudged Sam, standing beside me. "Look at the name," I whispered. "You think that's her?" Dean asked, who heard me whisper. "No, I remember the name when I read it on my 'Birth Certificate' Crowley gave me," I whispered. "You're not believing him, are you?" Sam asked. "Of course not." I let out a sigh. "Im conflicted." My head started to hurt. "You stay here. Sam and I are going to talk to her." Dean and I disappeared when a red-headed woman came down the stairs. I only saw her out of the corner of my eye when Dean called me; I followed him into an alley, where we pulled our guns just as she was about to say a spell. "Don't," Dean growled. Rowena lowered her hand when she saw me.
Rowena raised her hand, making me move my finger to the trigger. "Kaylee." I heard her whisper. "You're out of luck, Lady," Dean added when Rowena started laughing. "What are you laughing at?" I asked. "You're wrong," she answered when I felt something touching my back. "We have to work on your timing, buddy," Dean said, who also had a gun on his back. "Drop the gun, Dean-o," he almost whispered. "You're making a huge mistake in letting her walk away," I said, turning around. "Yeah, sure," the man said, looking at Dean. "You heard the boy," Rowena said behind me. We dropped the guns. "Kaylee, come with me, my wee child." I heard her whisper. "No, leave me alone." I hissed, not turning around to face her since I still had the gun pointed at me. "You can go to this. It is between Dean and me," the guy told me. "Im not leaving my brother behind." I hissed. "Kaylee, go, it's okay. I can handle him," Dean grumbled. I picked up the guns and walked back into the Hotel. I didn't know what to do when Sam came running over, asking me if I was okay. "Yeah, im good." I had no idea what had happened, so Sam pulled me back to the door I had entered, leading to the alley. "Sam waited, but he was already out of the door; what I saw was surprising. Both men were still alive when Sam raised his gun. "Put the gun down, Sam," Dean yelled, who looked over the shoulder. I learned that the guy was Cole, an ex-marine who confronted Dean when he was still a demon. Dean calmed down and convinced him to leave, but I had memorized that we would see him again. Dean, Sam, and I returned to the bunker; Sam was certain she was my mother the whole time, which I refused to believe. "She is not my mother. Mary Winchester is the woman who raised me." I snapped from the backseat while Dean was driving and Sam was in the passenger seat. "She knew your name, Kaylee, and hadn't met you before," Sam said. "Im telling you, Sam, she is not my mother." I scoffed. "Kaylee, she called you her child in the alley," Dean said. "That doesn't mean anything, Dean." I snapped, and with that, I refused to talk to them. Even when we were at the bunker, I avoided interacting with them until Jody called me a few days later. "Hi, Jody." I greeted her while folding some dry laundry. "Hey, you mind doing me a small favor?" she asked. "Yeah, what's up?" I continued the Shirt. "Can you grab Sam? I think there is a case where I am," she said; I was curious. "Alright, let me find him."I threw the shirt in the basket and walked out of the laundry room with my phone to my ear and the basket in my hand. "Alright, found Sam," I said to put the basket down and put the phone next to Sam's laptop on the speaker. "Hi, Jody! What's Up?" Sam greeted her when I heard footsteps behind me; with a short look, I saw Dean walking up to us. "Nothing much, having the time of my life at the Sheriff's retreat in Hibbing," she told us. "Sounds fun," I said when I saw a hand waving before my eyes. "Oh yeah, and Dean says Hi," I added. "You found him. Thanks for telling me." Jody said. "Yeah, im back. Hi Jody." Dean finally said after sitting down. "How's Alex?" Dean added I knew she was the girl Jody took in after the last case Dean, Sam, and Jody did together. "Great, already head of the cheerleading squad." I heard the sarcasm in her voice. "Really?" Sam asked who got her sarcasm. "No, Sam, he's smoking under the bleachers," Jody grumbled, and I giggled. "Listen, I told Kaylee that something's strange going full chow town on the victim," Jody explained. "Sounds like a vampire." I mumbled to Sam, "Yeah, but here is the thing: the flesh was gone." Jody said. I tilted my head since that wasn't normal. "I don't know, Jody. I got nothing that fits." Sam said. "We could head your way," Dean suggested. "Yeah, won't be a problem," I added. "It's okay, guys. If something comes up, Im going to call." Jody said. "Alright, well, enjoy the retreat." Sam said, this time he was sarcastic. "Screw you, Winchester," she replied. I turned away, not to laugh aloud, before saying goodbye to her and hanging up the phone. "Should we go and help her?" Dean asked while I packed my phone into my pocket. "Jody said she would call if something comes up." Sam looked up from the screen but said nothing for a minute. "All right, let's go." Sam said, all of a sudden, getting up from his chair.
