Chapter 83
He found Larry dead, which meant we were now looking for Alonso. "Where is he now?" Dean asked Maritza, still sitting on the chair. "Basement, where he spends his time," she said. Sam and Dean went down while I stayed with Maritza. "I want to help you guys. You can't put me on babysitting her." I scoffed. "Im on your side," Maritza said behind me. "Yeah, well then, how do we kill him?" Sam asked; after she told us, Sam, Dean, and I entered the basement. Dean and I went to look in one corner while Sam scouted out the other side when, all of a sudden, I heard some smashing; as fast as Dean and I could, we ran, finding Alonso on top of a knocked-over shelf with Sam underneath it. Dean moved me to the side, running over, killing Alonso by cutting off the fat sucker he tried to kill Sam with. Finally, the drama was over, meaning we were finished and could go back home. "Please promise me to be careful, alright," I told Maritza, who was crying over the loss of her husband and brother. "I will thank you so much." We hugged before I went where Donna, Sam, Dean, and a Sheriff stood.
Driving back to the bunker with Sam was uncomfortable since I didn't know what to say until he broke the ice by asking me if I said anything to Dean. "No, I haven't, not if I have to; you know he can get dramatic fast," I said, giggling a little. "Yeah, I know." Sam smiled, turning to me. "Listen, I wanted to say something about Kevin." Sam tried to say, but I stopped him. "You don't have to say anything. I know you want to apologize for keeping Kevin at the bunker, breaking your promise, but he did what you asked." I said with a light smile. "You know Dean wanted to kill her," Sam said after a while. "Who? Maritza?" I asked, and he nodded. "Why, she was completely harmless," I asked angrily. "Yeah, I know, but I persuaded him to keep her alive, sending her back to Peru," Sam said.
I was relieved. "You know Maritza was one of the people or monsters I liked," I admitted. "Yeah, you have a feeling for who is good or bad." Sam looked down before backing up, and I could see it from the corner of my eye. A few days after our return from Minnesota, I had the eerie feeling something was haunting the bunker, but Kevin was trying to communicate with us from wherever he was, which wasn't heaven. He asked us to rescue his Mother, so Sam, Dean, and I drove off to talk to Candy, a spirit who might know where Kevin's Mom was. We drove from the Forest in Wichita to a storage facility where Sam and I found Mrs. Tran locked up. After saving Dean from the facility clerk who tried to kill Dean, we went back to the bunker, and I stopped giving Kevin's mother a chance to speak. I heard Dean and her talk about Kevin.
"How was he as a kid?" I asked, leaning against the wall and listening. "Oh, you have no idea," she laughed a little. "He was a perfect kid," she said, turning to me and holding a little box; I walked over, looking over her shoulder. "Always great in school and no trouble at home," she told me. "Sounds like a perfect relationship you had," I said, leaning against the table. "Yeah," she nodded, whipping a tear away. We hugged before she was about to leave, when Kevin showed up one last time before he and his Mom went home. "We failed you, Kevin, and were so sorry-." Sam tried to say, but Kevin interrupted him. "Sam, that wasn't you. I'll call it square when you put a blade in the asshat who possessed you." I had to laugh and hold off my tears at the same time. "Hey, don't cry, alright? You were my best friend, Kaylee." Kevin's words made me almost cry, but I pulled myself together. "Love you too, buddy." I took a deep breath and tried to stay strong. "Thank you, all of you." Kevin gave us each a look. He seemed okay at the moment. "You can thank us when you're in heaven, where you belong," Dean said. I nodded, getting yet again emotional. "But until then, enjoy the 24/7 Mom Time without a chance to get away," Dean added; I cracked a smile. "Dick," Kevin mumbled, making me smile even more. "Hey, before I go. Can you do me a favor?" he asked, turning around and almost walking away from us. "Sure, pal." I nodded, and Sam and Dean nodded. "Can you please get over it? I could see you fighting and having dramas just because you couldn't see me. It's just stupid. Im going with my Mom while you are still here." Kevin said.
"Promise," Sam said with one last nod. "Yeah," Dean mumbled. "Good." Kevin turned around and followed his Mom up the stairs; just after the door closed, I heard Sam walk off, while Dean and I stayed before he walked off. "Really?" I asked, but both were out of the room. I walked into my room, grabbed my keys and some spare clothes, and ran, but since I refused to go home, I went to a motel and stayed there until Dean called me because I wasn't in the bunker and my car wasn't outside.
"Oh yeah? You broke another promise." I scoffed, almost screaming into my phone, lying on the bed with the phone in my hand. "It wasn't me telling that to Sam," Dean argued. "Don't argue with me, Dean; you and Sam aren't talking, alright? I felt the tension between you two." I snapped, sitting up in the bed. "Don't try to find me. I turned off the location on my phone." I ignored Sam and Dean's calls for the next few days.
