five

After their breakfast, it was time for them to run their daily mile.
"I don't want to do this anymore," Nika wheezed out. "If I'm dead, then why does this hurt so much?"
"Because we can still experience pain," Namjoon huffed out as he caught up with her.
"Well, that's just bullshit," she whispered.
"Don't you ever think about how our lives in Heaven would be better than this?" Namjoon asked.
"I never said I was in Heaven," Nika replied, speeding up and leaving Namjoon behind.
Namjoon groaned, breathing heavily as he managed to keep running. Unlike Nika, he was actually glad to be alive again—or somewhat alive. Of course, he didn't like the extreme training they had to undergo, but he knew why.
Since he was a child, he'd heard stories of people being brought back to life because the government was planning something, but Namjoon never knew why.
He now knew why. The government needed a group of people to protect them from dangers bigger than what they could deal with. Namjoon didn't know what they had in mind, but he knew it wasn't good.
He finished his mile with Nika, while Jungkook waiting at the finish line. The others were still finishing up their mile, while Hoseok was last.
Their coach gave them their individual times as they finished their mile. He had advice for them and some critiques for them.
"Fastest mike belongs to Jungkook!" their coach announced.
"It's always Jungkook!" Jin shouted. "Everyone loves Jungkook!"
Their coach shooed Jin away with his hand. "Such nonsense. Anyway, Jungkook finished his mile at 6:38."
Yoongi gasped loudly. "How the fuck?"
Jungkook looked proud of himself, as everyone else stared at him in shock.
"It's because he died young," Taehyung said. "That's the trick."
Jimin suddenly looked at Taehyung with a what-the-fuck face. "You're young too. What are you saying?"
"It's obvious that Jungkook is way more fit than us! He died fit and young," Taehyung said.
