I stand bleeding

I stand bleeding

blood dripping down my arms

across my open palms

trickling off my fingertips

and

pooling on the sidewalk

under my feet

I look down

at the crimson pool

growing larger

my life

slowly draining from me

With heads down

people

walk by me

avoiding

me

and

the crimson pool

still growing

at my feet

I look into their

hidden faces

“Help me”

I fall to my knees

still bleeding

my hands now 

touching the sidewalk

My eyes

clouding

With heads down

people 

still walk by me

and ever increasing

circle

around me 

and my 

crimson pool

some even stepping

into the street

I fall forward

my heart slowly

pumping

the last drops of life

out of me

my life

flowing away from me

I close my eyes

“Just take me”

I stand bleeding

no more
