A week later-

Jessica and the kids were getting ready for the day. After breakfast Olivia went upstairs to get her things before Sean left. It was just Jessica and Sean alone in the kitchen.

"Hey Mom... can I talk to you?" He asks

"Sure honey, what's up?" She says as she cleans the dishes

"I texted Dad. We are going out to dinner tonight. Just to talk. I'm going to invite him."

Jessica stops What's she's doing and turns to Sean with a small smile. "That's great, honey. I'm glad."

"Can you just not say anything to Olivia? I don't want her to try to talk me out of this." He says

Jessica gives Sean a quick hug and smiles. "Okay"

Sean and Olivia's POV-

The car ride over was the same as always. Sean had his phone plugged into the aux and all you could hear is his incredibly loud music.

While they were driving Olivia unplugged his phone.

"Hey, What was that for?" Sean says

"What are you keeping from me?" She asks

"Me? Nothing."

"Liar! I was coming down stairs and heard you and Mom talking. You said don't say anything to Olivia. What are you hiding?"

Sean rolls his eyes "It doesn't concern you."

Sean refused to tell Olivia, but he knew he wouldn't win this battle. He didn't want Olivia to talk him out of inviting Danny to graduation. He really wanted him there.

"Sean! Fess up!"

Sean huffs "I'm inviting Dad to graduation."

Olivia was quite for a moment. Her and Sean made a pact. They both agreed not to talk to Danny. Not because of Jessica but all the things he had done and how he treated them. In a way she felt back stabbed. She felt that Sean talking to Danny would mean she'd have to talk to him.

"To Sam's too?"

"I think so." He nods

"Why?"

"He's our Dad. I want him there. You'll understand when your time comes. How long are we going to let this go on for?" Sean snaps

"I don't know! I just hate him! You can't invite him."

"Well I am. We are going to dinner tonight. You won't talk me out of this so can it."

Once school was over Olivia and Sean didn't say a word to each other. Olivia was furious with Sean. She didn't want Danny around. Yet, this was all out of her hands and there was nothing she could do. Olivia had the feeling Jessica wouldn't stop him either.

Once they got home it was just the two of them. Olivia ran up to her room and slammed the door while Sean followed after her.

"Olivia, why are you such a drama queen!" Sean yells after she darts up to her room.

Olivia got even more upset so she runs out of her room and stands at the top of the stairs.

"He's an asshole! He's going to ruin it for you. He'll find a way to fuck up and you know it!" She yells

"That's not true. Why would Dad fuck up my graduation?"

"I don't know Sean! He always has a way. We made a pact, you broke it, I'm pissed. So go, have dinner with him, invite him, let me know how it all works out for you." Olivia runs back to her room and slams the door. Sean stands at the bottom of the stairs and just tries to forget everything she had just said.

Before Jessica got home Sean headed to dinner. When she did get home Olivia was alone, watching tv. Right off the bat Jessica could tell something wasn't right by her body language.

"Hey Livy. What's up?" Jessica asks

Olivia doesn't answer.

Jessica sighs, slips off her shoes, and sits next to Olivia on the couch.

"Liv?" Jessica says sternly

"What!" Olivia jumps up

"Excuse me? Sit down." Jessica says

"Sorry..." She says sitting down

"What's wrong?"

"Sean is going to see Dad? You're letting him invite Dad? Why?"

Jessica sits back on the couch and rubs her temples. "I told him he should."Jessica comes clean

"Why would you ever do that?" She asks

"Olivia, he's your father."

"I'm tired of hearing that! He doesn't act like it. He's going to mess it all up."

"I don't think so, Liv. Your father would be so hurt if he wasn't invited. Besides, Sean wants him there. Can't you be supportive for your brother?"

Olivia crosses her arms.

"Livy... come on." Jessica wraps her arms around Olivia and she stays still.

"Sean and I made a pact. He broke it. Now that he broke it that means I'll be stuck talking to Dad. I don't want to. I don't want to see him."

Jessica nods. She didn't want to force Olivia to do anything.

"If you don't want to talk to him you don't have to. Just be supportive of your brother, Okay?" Jessica says

"Fine"

Sean's pov-

When Sean got to the restaurant Danny still wasn't there. He decided to get a table and wait. About fifteen minutes later Danny showed up. Sean was a bit irritated that he was late but there was nothing he could do.

When they greeted each other it was awkward. It had been months. Sean stood up and Danny hugged his son. When they broke away from each other they sat down in silence.

"Is Olivia here?" Danny asks

"No." He answers quickly

Danny nods "How are you?"

"I'm good."

"That's good. Work is going well? School?"

Sean nods "Yeah. And you?"

"Ah, busy. I've just taken up some extra hours at the office. Nothing much. Sorry I was late."

"You're fine."

"... Sean, I'm really glad you wanted to talk. I've missed you and your sister. I messed up, a lot. Ever since your mother and i's divorce I feel like I keep letting you both down. I'm sorry."

Sean clears his throat. He didn't really know what to say.

"It's over. There's nothing you can do."

"I know that..." he sighs

"I'm not really ready to totally forgive you. I need time."

"Okay, I understand."

...

"I want you to come to graduation. It's the last day of the month." He blurts

A small smile appeared on Danny's face. He didn't think Sean would want him there. "Really?"

"Yeah. You're my dad."

"I'll be there. No doubt about it." Danny says

"There is going to be a party at Sam's... if you want to come."

"Okay...
Have you decided where you want to go?"

"No, not yet."

"Well, Let me know when you know. I'll help you out."

"Alright. I will."

Dinner went on. It got less and less awkward until the night came to an end. The two of them mostly just caught. It was nice speaking to his dad again, but at the same time things didn't feel the same.
