It was late at night. Jessica and Sam were wrapped up in each other's arms, talking. That's how the fell asleep, together holding one another. Jessica had her head on his chest as he rubbed her back.

"I'm so tired..." She whispers

"Me too. Just close your eyes." He says

As Jessica closes her eyes, their bedroom door swings open. Jessica and Sam both quickly sit up.

"Mom!" He yells

"Sean, can you knock!" Jessica snaps

"That doesn't matter right now."

"Excuse me?" She says

"I'm in! I got in!" He says holding his phone.

"What?" She rubs her eyes

"Got into college?" Sam asks

"Yes! Look!"

He hands Jessica the phone and she reads an email from Colgate University.

"Sean, you're kidding?"

He shakes his head. "No Mom, I'm going to college in New York!" He says

"Wow... Sean, this is great." Sam says taking the phone.

Jessica stands up and hugs Sean. "Baby, I'm so proud of you!"

"Thanks! I'm so excited!" He chuckles

"You should be. This is a great college."

Then, Olivia comes into the room.

"What's going on?"

"I'm going to college!"

"Thank god! I thought you'd never leave." She says giving her brother a hug.

Sean rolls his eyes. "Hey, it's better late than never."

"That's right!" Sam says

A couple days after Sean's acceptance to Colgate, Dorthy invited the whole family over to celebrate. Jessica's niece, Heather, was going to Miami University, so they were celebrating for her as well.

When they all arrived at Dorthy's there were two different cakes that had each college on them with Sean and Heathers name on it.

"There's our boy!" Dorthy says as he walks in.

Everyone claps and congratulates him. "Finally! You chose a college!" His cousin Heather says

"Hey, Better late than never." He shrugs his shoulders

"You two get a Picture next to your cakes!" Albert says

Ann walks over to Jessica and gives her a hug. "Our babies, going to college." She sighs

"I know, i was hoping he'd stay in town." Jessica pouts

"Hey, He should get out of this town." Ann says

"You're right."

"Don't be sad." Ann says

"I'm not. How are you holding up?"

"I'm fine, Heather, she'll be fine."

"Sean will be fine too. He's a good kid."

Sean and Olivia went home with Heather because they were having another pool party at Ann's. It was tradition, during the summer Ann's kids always held these crazy parties.

So, it was just Sam and Jessica when they got home. Jessica, she was a bit sad. All of this college talk really made her upset. She wasn't prepared for the day to come so soon. He only had two weeks left at home. It was happening so fast.

Sam, he knew something was wrong. He sat beside Jessica as she held a picture of Sean and Olivia that was taken just recently.

"Jessie, Jessie, Jessie..." He says putting his arm around her.

Jessica puts her head on his shoulder and sighs. "They grow up too fast. When I had them everyone said how fast time would fly. I didn't believe them. Now, I do. Sean, he's going to college. He's basically an adult. And Olivia, she's driving. I just want to hold my little babies in my arms again. I don't want to say goodbye, not yet." She cries

"But you aren't saying goodbye, Jess. You'll see him on holidays and breaks. I know it won't be the same, but, it's not goodbye."

"Look how grown up they are in this picture. Just look! They're so old!" She says

Sam chuckles "They are still teenagers, babe."

Jessica wipes her tears. "I'm over reacting, aren't I?"

"No, you are a mother with a child kinda leaving the nest. You can be upset."

"I'm happy for him, I really am."

"I know, baby."

August 20th-

The day Jessica had dreaded most had arrived. Sean was all packed up and ready to leave for New York. Jessica wanted to fly out with him but couldn't. Lots of his things would be shipped to his dorm, but for now he had everything he needed.

He concluded his summer with a trip to StillWater to see the Huston's. They were all so proud of him for going to Colgate. But Danny, he didn't know. He was MIA, again. Sean, he didn't think about it. He just cut Danny out of his mind and kept a positive mindset.

They drove him to the airport and were able to walk him to his gate and wait for him to board.

Sam, Jessica, and Olivia were getting ready to say their goodbyes before they started to load the plane.

"You have everything, right?"

"Yes Mom."

"And you wrote down your address for me to send your things like drawers and more sheets."

"Yes" Sean says anxiously

Jessica sighs and puts both of her hands on her son's shoulders. He was so grown up. He stood tall in front of her with a huge smile on his face. She stared to tear up.

"I love you, always remember that. I'm a phone call away. Anything you need, I'm here!"

"Thank you, I love you too."

"Don't be a stupid idiot! Don't do stupid things! Don't hang around stupid people. Don't be afraid to say no, don't get in trouble. Study your ass off, and most importantly enjoy yourself. Oh, and don't forget to call me, everyday!" She says sternly pointing her finger at him.

"Yes ma'am!" He says giving her a hug.

Jessica moves away from him so everyone can say goodbye as well.

"Sean, what am I going to do without you?" Olivia crosses her arms.

"Drive my car!" He says in a snarky tone

"Mhm!" She jokes giving him a hug.

"Take cafe of Vanessa. She's my baby." He jokes

"Oh, she's no longer going to be Vanessa or your baby." She says holding the keys in her hand.

He rolls his eyes and lightly taps her.

"Okay, Olivia." Jessica says

"Sorry..." She giggles

Then, Sam gives Sean a hug goodbye. "Take care of yourself. Have fun, but not too much fun. Don't forget to call." He says

"I won't forget. Thanks for everything, Sam."

"We'll miss you!" Jessica sighs

"I'll miss you all too. Promise you'll FaceTime me on game night?"

"Well Of course!" Sam chuckles

"Good."

Then, the flight attendant announces that it is time to board the flight. Sean looks at her than back at him family.

They all huddle together for a big group hug and stay there for a few minutes. "I'm going to miss my family."

"...I should go now." He says

Jessica covers her mouth, holding back the tears, and nods.

"Okay, baby."

"I love you guys! See you at thanksgiving!"

"We love you!"
