Missing
"There's a possibility she may have snuck out. This is just all so fucked up. This isn't Olivia, Mom!" Sean grabs his hair and paces through Olivia's room while Jessica was in a blank stare. Jessica was thinking about all the bad things that could have happened. It was so hard for her to stay positive.
She could be anywhere... she could be with her friends, she could be alone, she could be with a stranger... she could be anywhere but here.
Jessica thought to herself as she sat in Olivia's room on the verge of even more tears.
"Do you think she was mad and ran away? We should call the cops or something! Damn it!" Sean says
Sean kept rambling on making Jessica even more nervous then she already was. "Stop!" Jessica says holding up her hands. She closed her eyes then took a deep breath.
"Okay... this is what we are going to do. I'm going to call your father. You're going to try to get ahold of uncle George, Grandma, grandpa, anyone. We don't leave this house until someone is here to stay and make sure she doesn't come home." Jessica says calmly
Sean nods then sighs. "I'm sorry, Mom... how are you holding it together?"
"I'm not." Jessica says leaving the room.
//
"Come on, asshole! Pick up the damn phone!" Jessica says dialing Danny for the fifth time.
"Jessica, it's almost twelve in the morning. What the hell do you want!" Danny growls
"Olivia is missing, Danny. Is she at your house?"
The phone was silent for a moment. Jessica tried her hardest to hold back her tears.
"She's- missing?" He says
"Yes... I went to go check on her around eleven and she's no where to be seen. Her phone is in her room. I have no way of trying to get ahold of her. I don't know if she ran away or if she's alone, I don't know anything and I'm scared. I'm so scared, Danny!" That's when Jessica couldn't hold it together any longer, she just began to sob. Jessica could hear Danny choke up a bit as well.
"I'm on my way. Just stay there, Okay?"
"Okay, thank you."
//
Within the hour Jessica and Sean had contacted everyone that may know where Olivia could be or any idea. Jessica's brother and brother in-laws were out driving around trying to find Olivia.
Jessica was in her office checking off people to call when the doorbell rang. Jessica jumped out of her chair and ran to the door hoping it would be Olivia, but Danny was standing at the door.
Jessica had mascara running down her face and she was still in her pajamas. When Jessica saw Danny she cried even more and fell into his arms. He held her and tried to calm her down.
"It's okay, everything will be fine." He says softly
Sean was standing in the living room when he saw Danny at the door. "You always say things are fine and okay. You always seem to let everyone down." Sean says
Jessica breaks away from Danny and wipes her eyes then turns to Sean. "Sean, please... not now." Jessica says slowly shaking her head.
"Listen, Sean... I'm sorry... but right now we need to remove this tension and just focus on finding your sister."
Sean leaves the room and Jessica sighs.
Danny let's himself in. "Anything new? Does anyone know anything?"
"No... nothing. Not one single thing. I've went through her phone and I've tried to get ahold of everyone she's recently talked to but there's nothing. No messages about sneaking out or anything."
"This isn't like Olivia to do this."
"I'm so worried. We need to get to the police station. Hopefully they can help us. I'm just waiting for my mom to get here so Sean isn't alone."
Jessica walks into her office and stands by the window that you could see the front yard from.
//
Once Dorthy arrived Jessica and Danny were on their way to the police station. Danny drove slowly while Jessica looked out the window with her phone glued to her hand. She was just waiting and hoping for a call that someone found Olivia or that she was home and safe.
There was no evidence anywhere that Olivia snuck out or if someone had taken her. No one knew anything.
"I'm a shit father, Jessica." Danny says suddenly
Jessica turns to him and shakes her head. "I'm a shit mother."
"That's not true."
"It is! If I wasn't a shit mother I wouldn't have my whole fucking family and neighborhood on the look out for my daughter that is missing." Jessica snaps
Danny sighs "don't blame yourself."
"I can only blame myself."
//
Jessica and Danny made it to the police station and raced inside. An officer was sitting at the desk playing on his phone when Jessica and Danny came running in. By Jessica and Danny's profile he knew something was wrong. He quickly stood up and walked up to the counter.
"How can I help you?" He says politely
"Our daughter, she's missing. She's fifteen, blonde hair, blue eyes and about my height. Her names Olivia Lynn Huston. We need to file her as a missing child. We need you to help us find our baby, please!" Jessica pulls out multiple pictures of Olivia and points to each of them.
"We need to find her. She's a young girl... we're worried sick." Danny says
"Okay, I'd be glad to help. I'll need you to fill out some papers. But first I just have to ask how long she's been missing for."
Danny turns to Jessica then she answers in confidence. "About an hour."
The officers face went blank then he put his pen down.
"What are you doing, start writing this stuff down!" Danny snaps
"I'm sorry, sir. But a minor has to be missing for twelve or more hours to be announced missing."
"What?" Jessica and Danny say in sink
"I'm sorry... we can maybe get a patrol car to drive around your neighborhood but we can't announce her missing yet.
In frustration Danny clenches his fist and turns to a wall hitting it. Jessica jumps a bit then starts to cry.
"Now, you listen to me. You are going to do more then send a patrol car out. Her and I have a missing teenage girl that could be in danger and all you're going to do is send out a patrol car? You're kidding, right? While the rest of you play on your smartphones? What kind of system is this?" Danny shouts
Jessica tries to pull Danny away and calm him down but he pulls away from Jessica and stares into the now frightened, officers eyes.
"Okay, sir. I'll talk with multiple police officers and we will do everything we can. I suggest that you and your wife go home and let us take over. see if she comes home."
Danny removes himself away from the desk and nods. "Good."
//
On the ride home it was silent. Jessica wasn't ready to go home yet. She just wanted to keep looking. She felt like she wasn't doing enough, especially if something really bad could have possibly happened.
"Danny..." Jessica mumbles
"Yes?"
"Tonight I told Olivia and Sean something. I haven't seen her since I told her. What if I'm the reason she's gone?" Jessica stutters as tears roll down her face once again.
Danny pulls the car over and puts it in park.
"What happened?"
Jessica wipes her tears and turns to Danny. "Nothing bad..." She says quietly
"What? Are you seeing someone or something?"
Jessica puts her head down and nods.
"Oh." Danny turns away from Jessica and looks out the window.
"I feel like I'm the reason... I tried to call her tonight. She wasn't happy with me. Did she ever tell you what happened?"
Jessica shakes her head. "You spoke to her?"
"Briefly. The night the kids and I had a falling out I was just so angry... I didn't put them first."
"Hmm."
"I've made so many mistakes, Jessica. Sean's right, I let them down all the time. What if we can't find her, then I'm letting her down."
"I just want my baby girl home and in my arms..." Jessica whispers
//
2am//
The later it got the more nervous and scared Jessica got. She got hourly updates from patrolling officers but there still was no sight of Jessica. Danny left Jessica's to look as well while Jessica stayed by the phone. Sean and Dorthy were asleep in the living room. She was in the kitchen with a cup of coffee and her phone sitting in front of her.
Jessica had closed her eyes for a few minutes and she ended up falling asleep in her chair with her head on the table.
Within just a few minutes the whole table began to vibrate and Jessica's ringer went off. She shot up her head and held her heart to check her phone. There was no caller ID. Jessica answered as quickly as possible.
"Hello?" She says in a shaky tone.
She could hear sniffling in the background.
"Mommy?" She bears through the phone. Immediately she recognized the voice.
Hearing Olivia's voice gave Jessica a sense of relief that she had never once experienced in her life. She held onto her chest and just began to cry.
"Baby girl! Where are you! Why aren't you home? Are you okay?" She cries
"Mom, I'm so sorry! I'm so, so, sorry!"
"Where are you Olivia Lynn? I've been worried sick! Let me come get you! Tell me where you are!" Jessica begs
When Sean and Dorthy heard Jessica on the phone with Olivia they ran into the room.
Olivia was crying so much that she was unable to speak clearly.
"Olivia, where are you baby? Are you okay? Who are you with?"
"I'm with Nathan! Mom I made such a bad mistake coming with him and I'm scared. People are doing bad things and Nathan is scaring me. Mom I just want to come home!"
One of Jessica's hands held her phone to her ear while the other supported her head. She covered her eyes and shook her head.
Olivia ended up telling Jessica where she was... she was almost an hour away from home. As mad as Jessica was she just wanted to see Olivia and take her home.
"She's okay." Jessica says hanging up the phone. Her body shook and she cried out of relief.
Dorthy comes over to her and hugs her tight.
"She's okay, jessie... She's okay." Dorthy reassures her.
Jessica called everyone to let them know that she was going to get her. The police knew as well and stoped patrolling.
When Danny found out he was relieved then upset. He wanted to go get her with Jessica but Jessica thought it was best if she went on her own.
//
Around three Jessica was pulling into a neighborhood with only a few houses. As she pulled into the neighborhood she saw Olivia sitting on a curb near the neighborhood entrance.
When Jessica saw her she slammed on the breaks and looked out the window to see Olivia scared to death with tears rolling down her face. Jessica jumped out of the car and ran to her.
Olivia stood up and went into Jessica's arms. They both began to cry and Olivia's body trembled. Jessica pulled Olivia away from her and held her by the arms.
"I'm so sorry!" Olivia sobs
