Hookup
February 20th-
"Good morning!" Sam says as Jessica walks into the kitchen
"Good morning! Guess what today is?" She smiles
"Hmmm?" Olivia hums as she shoves her face with pancakes
"Your brothers birthday. I need to call him!" Jessica says running to get her phone.
Jessica quickly FaceTimes him and puts everyone in the camera.
It takes a while for him to answer, but when he does he was half asleep. He didn't really seem to be all there.
"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Sean, happy birthday to you!" They all sing
Sean rubs his eyes and quickly stands up.
"Mom, Sam, Liv, Hey... can I call you back?" He says in panic. They all look at each other then back at Sean who was trying to leave the room.
"Babe, where is that singing coming from?" They all hear over the phone.
"Oh my god, mom! Sean's having a hookup!" Olivia yells
"Shut up, no I'm not! That's my roommates girlfriend!" He says harshly
Jessica was horrified, but Sam and Olivia were enjoying the entertainment.
"Sean, who is that?" They hear the same voice again
"Sean Daniel! What is going on!" Jessica clenches her teeth and holds the phone tight.
"Mom! I'll call you right back!" He says hanging up
Jessica forcefully sets the phone on the ground and stares at the wall.
Olivia and Sam start to crack up laughing. "This is priceless! He was hungover and had a girl in this room!" Olivia giggles
"Wow, he's really enjoying college." Sam says
"That's enough you two!" Jessica says hitting Sam in the arm.
"Owe, babe!"
"Babe, who's that singing? Is that the girl you were with last week?" Olivia mocks the girl
"Stop it right now! I'm horrified enough!" They both stop and wait while Jessica storms out of the room.
Then, when she's gone they laugh again. "He's getting around!" Olivia says
"I mean it!" Jessica yells
Sam closes his mouth. "Okay, listen to your mother." He says handing Olivia the car keys
"This made my day... actually, my year."
"Mine too" Sam whispers

Later that day-
Jessica was at work in her office, flustered by the phone call she had with Sean. Jessica knew that her children would of course have sex, it just horrified her to think about it. The phone call just made her worried and upset.
But soon enough Sean called back. He waited since he knew Jessica would be at work, away from everyone.
"Mom, I'm so sorry... really. It was my roommates-"
"Sean, I get it. You're nineteen now, you're in college, doing all kinds of crazy stuff. You better use protection-"
"Mom!" He whines
"And... make sure you're clean or anyone you are with is clean. You don't want your whole life to change-"
"I get it, okay! Can we drop it?" He begs
Jessica chuckles "yes... happy birthday baby!"
"Heh, thanks!"
"Any big plans?"
"You want to hear about my big birthday plans?" He asks in a joking way
"No, id rather not know about all the irresponsible things you do up there. I want to sleep at night."
"Ha, Okay. Well thanks for calling. Miss you guys, can't wait to see you for spring break."
"Okay, I love you!"
"Love you too!"
Once the phone call was done Jessica hung up the phone and got back to work. But shortly after the receptionist at her office came in.
"Hey, Jessica, Dennis is here to see you."
"Thanks, Angela, send him in."
Dennis was a Detective down at the local station. He helped Jessica with a lot of her cases.
As Dennis walked in, a little boy shyly stood behind him. He was obviously frightened.
"Hi Jessica!" He says shaking her hand.
Jessica smiles at gives him a look down at the boy.
"Jessica, this is Logan..." Dennis says moving to the side. Logan was immediately intimidated and scared. He had to be about four or five. She got down on her knees and held out her hand.
"Hey buddy, My name is Jessica!" She smiles
He hides his face and tries to look away.
"Why don't you sit down right here." Dennis says helping him up on to the couch in her office.
He takes Jessica aside and whispers into her ears.
"The father murder case." He says
Jessica widens her eyes and remembers the case that she was put on last week. A father and mother had an argument which had lead to the mother being killed. Prior to the murder was abuse by the father towards both the mother and Logan.
"Oh my gosh, this poor boy." Her heart automatically broke for him, especially after reading through all the papers.
"He's been hanging with us until the social worker comes. I thought maybe he could help with the case." Dennis says
Jessica's motherly Instics quickly kicked in. "How old is he?"
"Five"
"Dennis, you can't have this little five year old take the stand! We can have justice for his mother without him being drilled by another lawyer!" Jessica says harshly
"You can do this without the boy?"
"Look at him Dennis... he's been through enough, watching his mothers own death, being abused by his father... the last thing this
Little boy needs is to take the stand!"
Then, Dennis gets a call. "Excuse me." He says leaving the room.
Jessica sighs and turns to the little boy who she caught playing with her decorations at her desk.
"Hey buddy. Do you want to sit in the big swivel chair?" She asks
He quickly hides his face and Jessica sighs. She goes to the chair and begins spinning around.
"It's so much fun!" She giggles
He slowly turns his head and watches as Jessica has the time of her life in the chair.
"Can I try?" He asks
"Of course! Here, hop on my lap." She smiles
Once he sits on her lap they continuously spin and spin.
He starts to giggle and lighten up a bit. He had the most gorgeous smile, he was so happy.
"This is fun!" He says
Jessica stops to catch her breath. She has become dizzy very fast.
Jessica smiles and he looks up at her. "You're so pretty!" He says
"Awww, well thank you!"
"Like my Mommy was." He says without hesitation
"I bet she was so beautiful and a wonderful mommy." Jessica says
He nods cutely and looks around. "Will my daddy get a long time out?"
Jessica looks at him blankly and clears her throat.
"Please" He begs
Jessica nods her head and gives him a hug. "Yes, your daddy will have a long time out."
"Okay" he shrugs his shoulders
Jessica could not get over how cute this blonde haired little boy was. The way he spoke and smiled just made her smile. Her heart hurt for him and all he had been through. All she wanted to do was protect him. Meeting this boy gave her even more determination to make sure his father never sees the light of day again.
Dennis comes back in and pulls Jessica aside once more. "Jess, I'm sorry but I have to go down to the station. A social worker should be here shortly. Do you mind waiting here for them with Logan?"
"Oh, yea, that's fine. I bet we can find something fun to do." She says
"Great, you're a doll. Let's reschedule this meeting for tomorrow, noon?"
"Okay, great."
After Dennis leaves Jessica goes back into her office to talk with Logan. He was still incredibly shy. It took a while for him to warm up to Jessica. She was able to keep him occupied and happy. Finally, when he was completely comfortable with Jessica it was easier to entertain him and hopefully cheer him up. The social worker was taking longer than expected, so Jessica got to spend most of her morning with him.
"What's your name?" He asks
"My name is Jessica, but you can call me Jessie or Jess." She smiles
"Miss Jessie, im hungry!" He says politely
Jessica looks around and takes his hand. "Let me take you to my favorite place ever for lunch then!"
"Okay!"
Jessica and Logan go down to the cafeteria part of the building. Since it was lunch time it was a little packed. It made Logan a bit anxious, she could tell right off the bat. But he picked out his food and they took it back to Jessica's office.
"Yum!" He says as he digs into the chicken tenders
"How do they taste?"
"So great, thank you!"
"Do you see why it's my favorite place?"
He nods his head and smiles "Yes and mind too!"
"Oh, the tenders won you over that easily?" She giggles
Logan laughs then stops eating.
"Am I staying with you? I like you."
"No buddy, I'm sorry..."
"With mister Dennis?"
Jessica was stuck in a rut. She didn't really know how to answer.
"No, a nice lady named Wendy is coming to take you with her."
Logan's eyes begin to water and his body shakes.
"Hey, logan, it's okay buddy!"
"I want my mommy!"
Jessica sighs then gets up to comfort him. "I know, but maybe you'll go see some of your family."
"We don't have any!"
Jessica pouts and continues to hold the crying boy who shook with fear.
"It's all going to be alright, okay?"
"Promise?"
"Yes! Of course... here, I'll give you something. If you ever need me you can call me!" Jessica goes to her desk and gets her business card.
"What's this?" He asks holding it in his hand.
"This is a card with my number. Can you use a phone?"
"I think..." he says holding it in his hand.
"Great! If you ever feel scared or need someone to talk to, you can call me whenever you want!" She says circling the number with a pen.
"You'll answer?"
"Mhm!"
Logan puts the card in his coat pocket and gives Jessica a big hug.
"I promise you it will all be alright... just keep your chin up!"

A few minutes before Jessica was suppose to leave to go home, the social worker came to get Logan. It was hard getting him away from Jessica. He was scared of the woman taking him away. The poor thing had been through so much, Jessica just wished he could take a break.
"Thanks for waiting all day. It's been a busy one." Wendy says
"Oh, really?"
"Yep.. poor children these days."
Jessica sighs and looks at Logan who was silently crying in the back seat.
"Wendy, where is he going to stay tonight? What will happen to him?"
"Since he has no family to stay with, he'll be staying at a foster home tonight. They are all ready for him. Hopefully it works out."
"I do too. He's been through a lot, Wendy. And he's a great kid."
"They all have." She says hoping into her car.
