A few days later-

It was only 5 days until Sean would be home, and five days until Jessica would be sharing the news with the kids.

She was finally excited and positive about this pregnancy. She knew if she had faith that everything would work out in her favor. Sam was relieved that Jessica was finally okay.

Now they had to wait. The tests would be coming back to them any day now. Of course they were anxious, but Jessica stopped worrying.

"Hey mom!" Logan says as he runs into the kitchen

"Yes?"

"Sean is coming home, right?" Logan asks

"He is!" She smiles

"I want to take him to my show- and- tell next week!"

"Oh really?" Sam says

"Sean isn't an object. He's a person. You have to bring in a toy or something." Oliva says

"Yeah sweetie." Jessica says

"Then I'll take my frame!"

Logan's frame had his certificate that he got from the judge when the adoption was finalized.

"That's a good idea!" Jessica smiles

"Even though it isn't Sean, it will do!" Sam chuckles

The doctors still didn't call. They were suppose to call this morning, but it was late lunch now and she was getting nervous. All she wanted was for that phone call to say that everything was going perfect.

Ann invited Jessica to her house for lunch. Jessica ran over right after her long day in court. She needed to find another distraction other than work since work wasn't helping.

...

"So Heather has a boyfriend. She's bringing him home for Thanksgiving! I'm so scared that possibly he'll be a douche like all of her other "perfect" men that she's brought home." Ann says

"Luckily for me Sean isn't dating yet. I'm glad. He needed to focus on his work."

"Oh... I thought you knew!" Ann says

"What?"

"Heather told me that Sean does in fact have a girlfriend! Her name is Abigail!"

Jessica gasps. "What! How am I not the first to know?" Jessica pouts

"They've been together for a while know, according to my know it all daughter." Ann says

"I need to call him and ask!"

"No! Sean probably didn't want heather to tell. Just let him come to you."

"Wait, Ann! What if this college girlfriend ends up being his wife! He always said when he met the right one in college that she'd be his wife!!!" Jessica smiles

"He's only a sophomore!" Ann says

Jessica giggles "I know..." Jessica gets really sad

"Hey, what's going on?" Ann asks

"At my children's wedding, this baby will be so young. When I'm a grandma it will be a little pre-teen."

"So? This baby is keeping you young! And gosh, why were you always the lucky one to be so small during a pregnancy? At eleven weeks I was showing

"I've always had small babies. But enough baby talk. I need to distract myself"

"Oh... the test."

"Yeah. And they still haven't called."

"Well they'll only say good things. Keep your head up."

Later in the afternoon-

Jessica got home early and went to the market to see Sam. He was back to unloading fall foods and decorations.

"Hey! Can I help?" She says surprising him

"Oh! Hey! You're home early. How was lunch with Ann?" He says giving her a kiss

"Great! Fun! Apparently Sean has a girlfriend!"

"What?" Sam says

"Heather."

"Oh. Well she knows everything."

"I have smart nieces and nephews." Jessica chuckles

"But... any word yet?" Sam says

She shakes her head and sighs.

"Damn! Maybe we should call."

"No... it may not be ready. Just relax. I'll go make you a snack." Jessica smiles

An hour later-

Everyone was at the farm working and helping Sam. They were all working hard, while Jessica wasn't really aloud to said Sam.

As they were all having some fun and enjoying themselves Jessica's phone rang.

Jessica quickly grabbed her phone and distanced herself to answer the call. It was the doctors. Sam ran after her and stood by her as she talked with the doctor.

It lasted about two minutes. Jessica looked horrified after she ended the call.

"Baby, what's going on?"

"They need us to come in."

"Oh! Okay! Well let's go!" He smiles

"Sam... they couldn't tell me over the phone. If it was good news they would... but we are going on. This isn't good news." Jessica breaks down into tears.

That's when Logan and Olivia came running over.

"Mom! That's wrong?" Olivia asks

"We need to go to my cousins house. It's an emergency. Can you watch Logan?" Sam lies

"Your cousin?"

Jessica clears her throat and nods "yes. We'll be back."

Jessica and Sam anxiously waited in the doctors office. They were waiting for him to come in so they could go over all the test.

Jessica saw her file on his desk and it was filled to the max. That scared Jessica so much. She was jittery and refused to let go of sam's hand.

Then, Fred, Jessica's OBGYN walked in.

"I'm sorry to keep you waiting."

"What's going on? Why couldn't this be discussed on the phone?" Sam says

Jessica watches the doctors facial expressions. They didn't look good. He didn't come baring good news.

"Because something is wrong." Jessica says

He sighs again and nods. "I hate bringing you hear, but it's important that we talk face to face."

"Just tell us!" Jessica says

The doctor hated giving out news like this. But he knew that it had to be done.

"After many tests and ultrasounds, something didn't seem right. Your CVS shot up some red flags that led to me having to look over your ultrasound again."

"Is the baby okay?" Sam says

"The baby is okay... but-"

"But what?" Jessica's eyes begin to water and her heart races

"Your baby has Down's syndrome." He says

In that very moment, Jessica and Sam went numb. They went into complete denial. They were in disbelief. Jessica's heart sank to the ground. It was all her fault. It was her body that she was carrying the baby in. She couldn't protect her baby from this. It was all her fault.

"No. That can't be right." Sam says

"Sam..." Jessica says with tears in her eyes

"Jessica, this cant be true!"

"Shut up Sam!" She yells

Sam begins to cry... they both did. But the doctor had more.

"I know this is a lot to take in. But this baby has a chance. All babies are different. Your baby is different just like all of the others."

Jessica sniffles then goes on "how do you know from the scans?"

The doctor gives Jessica a scan that had all kinds of circles.

"First of all, underneath the neck is all fluid, which is one indication. Next is the small nose bone. Then you have the swollen kidney, and bright spots in the heart."

Jessica starred at the blow up ultrasound and cried even more.

"Babies with Down's syndrome do have more risks. Like heath problems with the heart, brain, and any other-"

"Please stop." Sam says

"I'm sorry, of course." The doctor says

"I'm sorry Sam. This is all my fault."

"Our baby.... our baby has Down's syndrome. This baby will never have a real shot at a normal life."

"That's not true." The doctor says

"But it is!" Sam cries

"Oh my god." Jessica says holding her heart. She falls into sam's arms and sobs.
