Chapter 8

"We're sorry, due to today's date we cannot accept all phone calls at this time. Please hold and wait for one of our representatives to..."

Sans groaned, tilting back his head. Of course. Of fucking course. He should have known that entering a world all about good and evil alignments that being neutral would one day bite him in his ass.

But seriously, now?

This was the worst time to be banned from an event. Literally the event his students had been super hyped for. Every single one of them were ecstatic for Sans to be there, and he found out, literally the DAY of the competition, that he was not allowed to attend. Because, after all, it was a hero funded event. Anyone who was openly against heroes was not allowed to attend.

Oh, how Sans tried. When his students and fellow teachers found out he couldn't attend, they rose hell with the administration team. But no matter how many calls Sans made, or how loudly they complained, it was a firm decision. Sans technically wasn't a hero. Sure, he worked as an assistant teacher, and obviously protected the academy before, but he didn't sign a hero release form. And someone with his magic was an obvious threat as an attacker if he decided to suddenly turn rogue. They didn't like wild forces like that, and thus, he wasn't allowed inside.

Not even through teleporting! They had lots of cameras and guards with watching perks, so if he did, the place would go into lockdown and he'd be forcefully removed.

Fucking. Great. Sans angrily exclaimed, over the phone, "How the hell am I supposed to support my classroom then?". And what was their response?

It's being live streamed. He can watch it at home.

Except for no, Sans couldn't stay at home. Because of the tournament going on for the school, that obviously meant no one would be at the school to watch it. And since Sans was suddenly free, they decided to shove him in and take off the teacher who was supposed to watch it so they could attend the event. Yay.

After several annoyed calls, they ended up labeling his number as one to ignore. Now, stuck in guarding the school, he was seething.

To think he was practically pushed aside just because a different opinion, Yeah, safe to say he and everyone else hated it. But would they listen to any of them? Sure, the kids were good, and Sans was friends with a good number of heroes, but he saved a villain. On camera. Yeah, that didn't go by well with anyone who ran this event. That was the final nail in the coffin for Sans' fate of watching the stupid school. And the final decision for them to ignore any of his further calls.

The best Sans could do was text them encouraging words and watch from the TV he snuck in. Not much else to do. Except for letting his annoyance grow like a plant in his soul, rather pissed off. He wanted to be there! To support the kiddos and watch them succeed! That was the whole point of this!

Well, guess he'd just send them selfies of him with his thumbs up at a weird angle. That was the best he could offer, really.

They better do their damn best. Of else he'd find them after they left and personally pinch them. Maybe not give them puns for a day. Or give them a lot more puns. It depended on what was worse for them personally.

Bakugou ended up giving the class speech. Which went about as well as Sans expected. Especially since Sans wasn't there to reel him in. Not only did he snapping insult the other class, but then he turned and insulted the program.

"If this system is so messed up that a teacher I care about cannot attend to support me in this damn competition, just because she thinks the system could do better for everyone, I swear I'm going to fucking tear down it myself and rebuild it so that shit doesn't happen to anyone who needs support but can't get it again. You guys hear?" Bakugou then stuck one arm into the air, and looked down at his classmates. "That's what we're becoming heroes for! To protect people who aren't protected by others! Let's go Class 1-A! For Ms. Sans, who's stuck at the school because she just has a different opinion! We're doing this for her and her alone!"

And everyone in that class cheered. He didn't know wether to join in the cheering in the silent classroom or cry from joy. They decided to dedicate their victories to him! That... it was so heartwarming he loved it. He was definitely buying those kids popsicles or something for their next class period. Sent them all a group text of a thank you, and swore he'd go and meet them as soon as his shift was over.

'You guys are the best I swear!!!!!! -Sans'

'ima buy you all so much shit I swear -Sans'

'do your best you little awesome goblins, ill cheer u on from the darkness of this classroom -Sans'

'Picture sent'

Sans was a little - okay, very excited over this. So he sent them a picture with his thumb sticking up to show support, grinning wide. How could he help himself?

~~~~~~
Todoroki grinned at the messages popping up. Honestly, his classmates and teachers were the only one's keeping him sane through his Dad's nonsense. This morning, when planning to fight for Sans as a demonstration for the flaws in their system, it was the most fun he's had in awhile. And, of course, hanging out with his boyfriend was always fun. Todoroki blushed at that statement. Boyfriend. Deku and him were official. He sometimes forgot that, because it felt like a dream.
But something made him pause from his boycrush daydream of Deku, and being thrilled about actually dating him. It was when Sans sent a photo.
Because...
"Oh my lord," He said, standing up.
"What's wrong?" Deku asked, turning away from refilling their waterbottles. "Scared to face me? We agreed we wouldn't hold back."
"No, no, we - is there any available teachers right now?" The red and white haired teenager turned the phone towards Deku. "Because Sans is in trouble. There's someone in the photo behind him!"
