Angel-sitting
Charlotte and Jade were walking to the cafeteria after their biology class.
*cough, cough*
"Are you okay Char?"
"Yeah, it's just some allergies" Charlotte lied.
Charlotte hasn't been feeling well for the past 2 days and it's actually getting worse. She tried to hide it from her friends and family because her parents are going to DC to attend some meeting for the weekend.
They got their food and sat at their usual table.
"Hey guys" Owen and Jace joined them.
"Hey," Jade said and went back to eating her food while Charlotte kept staring at her sandwich since she didn't feel like eating it.
"Something wrong angel?" Jace inquired her with concern written all over his face.
"Nothing Jace" she gave him a weak smile.
"Okay, something is surely wrong"
"N...nothing Jace" Charlotte insisted.
Jace squinted his eyes at her while she gave him a wide smile. Jace huffed.
"Okay, remember we should get started at 7 tomorrow morning," He said eating his sandwich.
"Yeah, I..." Charlotte sneezed before she could finish the sentence.
"You okay Char?" Owen asked her.
"Yeah, it's just allergies that's all" Charlotte replied casually.
"Are you sure, angel?" Jace asked her to be certain.
"Yes Jace, don't worry, I am fine"
Charlotte didn't want to tell him that she felt like shit and that she has a pounding headache because Jace specifically requested his coach to give him the weekend off from practice so that they could go on their date. Also, after what happened the other day in her room, she felt bad and she wanted to make it up to him.
After school, Charlotte went home and took rest hoping she would be better by the next morning.
Next Morning
Charlotte's parents left for their meeting the previous night after she convinced them that she was not ill. Jace knocked on the door. Charlotte dragged herself up and went downstairs to open the door.
"Morning ang.....el?" Jace's voice changed from excited to one of concern.
"Sorry Jace, give me 10 minutes, I will..." Charlotte turned to go to her room to get dressed but Jace stopped her.
"Wait, angel, are you sick?"
"N....no Jace," Charlotte said looking down.
Jace put his hand on her forehead and she was burning up.
"Angel, you have a fever," Jace said in a soft voice.
"N...no, I don't" Charlotte replied stubbornly.
Jace huffed, "Okay angel, come on, you need to take rest"
"But our date..." Charlotte began.
"It can wait, angel, you being healthy is what matters right now." Jace carried her upstairs as she was very weak to walk
He put her on the bed but she immediately leaped off her bed and darted for the bathroom. Jace followed her into the bathroom and found her bent over the toilet seat, throwing up. Jace went over and rubbed her back gently and soothingly.
"Jace, get out of here, this is gross," Charlotte said before throwing up again.
"Relax angel, I just wanna make sure you are alright" he replied still rubbing her back.
After she was finished. She washed her mouth and stood up to go to her room but felt strong arms wrap around her petite body.
"Come here Char," Jace said pulling her in close and placing a soft kiss on her forehead.
"I am sorry Jace, I didn't....."
"Hey shhhhhh, it's okay angel, I got you," Jace said stroking her hair. Charlotte stayed wrapped up in his arms, a smile creeping onto her lips. They stayed like that for a few minutes before going back into the room.
"Want me to get you some water angel?" he asked her once he sat her on the bed.
"Yes, please"
Jace jogged down the stairs and grabbed a glass and filled it with water.
"Here" he handed her the glass and she took it.
"Don't take big gulps angel, you'll bring it back up again" Jace advised.
"I know Jace, I am not stupid" Charlotte retorted sipping the water.
"Sassy even when sick" Jace commented causing Charlotte to chuckle a little.
Charlotte rubbed her fingers on her temples, "uh, my head"
"I'll get you some tablets for that okay?"
"Thanks, Jace, you don't need to do this" Charlotte said taking the paracetamol tablets and popping them into her mouth and drinking water.
"Hey, you are my friend and of course, I need to take care of you," Jace said pushing a strand of hair away from her face.
Charlotte rolled her eyes at his choice of words.
"Uh....is there anything else you need angel?" Jace asked her.
"No Jace, you can go home now. At least you should enjoy your day off" Charlotte said mumbling the last part but Jace heard her.
"Angel, I wanted to spend the day with you and I am going to do just that, plus your parents are away for the weekend and I am gonna be here for you," Jace said firmly.
"But I don't want you to catch whatever the hell this is. You can't get sick before the tournament Jace" Charlotte reasoned.
"I'll be fine, angel" Jace replied firmly and sat down on the bed.
Charlotte sighed and then sneezed, "Bless you," Jace said.
"Thanks, Jace" Charlotte sniffed.
Jace put the trash can next to the bed so that Charlotte wouldn't have to run back and forth to the bathroom if she threw up again.
"You should probably eat something for those pills to work" Jace advised her.
"I don't feel like eating Jace," Charlotte said scrunching her face.
"I hear dry crackers help and they won't upset your stomach," Jace said.
"Okay, I'll have crackers then" Charlotte smiled weakly getting up.
"Whoa, where do you think you are going, angel?" Jace stopped her.
"To the kitchen" Charlotte replied.
"No, you sit and I'll get them for you," Jace said and got the crackers for her.
When he entered her room, he was met with the sight of Charlotte hunched over the side of her bed throwing up in the trash can. Jace went over and rubbed her back until she was finished.
"You alright angel?"
"No" Charlotte groaned leaning back onto her bed. Jace passed her a tissue and she wiped her mouth.
He gave her the dry crackers and some water.
"Thanks, Jace, I owe you" Jace smiled sitting beside her placing a wet cloth on her forehead.
"I am sorry for the other day Jace" Charlotte apologized.
"No angel, it's okay, I totally understand."
"No, Jace, you don't," Charlotte said looking down.
"What are you saying angel?" Jace said confused.
"It's just that, i... I am.......a virgin" she mumbled the last part.
Jace pulled her close to him and kissed her head, "I am truly sorry, angel" he apologized sincerely.
She felt relaxed in his embrace and snuggled close to him. After a while, he heard light snoring and saw that she had fallen asleep. Seeing her sleeping peacefully brought a smile on his lips.
"No girl ever made me feel the way you do angel. I know you are still just my friend but I love you with all my heart" Jace confessed to a sleeping Charlotte.
Charlotte stirred a little in her sleep but didn't wake up. Eventually, Jace dozed off with his arm wrapped around her.

Jace woke up and saw that it was 6 pm. He slowly shifted Charlotte, who was still sleeping on his chest, onto the bed. He cleaned out the trash can and went to the kitchen. He made vegetable soup and woke her up.
"Here, it will make you feel better angel," he said giving her the bowl.
"Thanks, Jace" she smiled.
"How are you feeling?" He asked after she ate it.
"Better actually," Charlotte said laying her head on his shoulder.
"Thanks for babysitting me, Jace"
"You mean angel-sitting?" Jace said causing her to laugh.
Jace kissed her forehead and turned on the tv. They watched a movie on Netflix and dozed off.
A/N: Charlotte and Jace didn't go on their date but ended up spending the whole day together. What do you think will happen next?
