--------------------------------------

Fear was something I knew well. I had seen it taking over my dreams. I had seen it taking over my entire life. It had been running in my system since the last three years every time I came across any memory of my sister. And right now the same fear was staring me back in the eye, a sense of victory circling in the grayness of his iris, and a sick smile keeping his mouth curled up.

I had been thrown in the corner of an old couch lying in a dark room, which I assumed was one of the office spaces in the same building which we were in earlier. My head spun. The whole room felt dizzy and running into circles. There was a numbness running in waves throughout my body and the only place I felt something sharply was the sting in my neck where he had jabbed the injection which had brought me to this state.I could feel the time passing by as he kept his sharp gaze on me. I struggled to keep my eyes open, not ready to give up so easily.

"Stop fighting," he said, stroking his chin. "You know you won't win."

I took a sharp breath as he came forward to crouch in front of the couch, distance of a mere foot left between us now. I tracked his grey eyes as the roamed all over my face and then traveled down.

He sighed heavily, "God, you're beautiful. Just the way I remember you."

"Stay away," I managed to spit out through my gritted teeth and my nearly dead jaw.

I may have meant it like a threat but it came out like a low whimper which only made his smile grow and before I knew it, I was forcibly pulled up to a sitting position. I felt his pale looking hands get a hold of my feet and move up from there. His eyes ran with his hands up my legs until they stopped at my thighs.

"You don't mean that," he whispered, boring his eyes into mine.

 I felt like throwing up.

"You won't get away this time," I spoke without blinking, letting him know that I wasn't afraid of him.

He smiled, cocking his head to the side. "Oh, but I will." He sat on the ground, his hands not leaving my legs. "You're mine now."

"You're a fucking psycho," I wanted to yell it out with all I had in me but again it was just a whisper.

He chuckled, rising up from his spot. The looked of being amused didn't budge as he hovered over me. "See that's why I love you. The chase, it's thrilling. It was so easy with her, but with you..." his head descended down to the crook of my neck. "You were never easy. And that's what it makes it so interesting."

There was something in my stomach that was threatening to rise up which I could feel in the back of my throat with the bile.I nudged my shoulders as a sign for him to stay away.

"Someone will find us and they will come. I know someone will." he sat up again, and I looked him straight in the eyes. "And when they do I hope you die the worst imaginable death."

It didn't take a genius to tell that this guys was nuts. But as he smirked on my words, I had to question the limits of how intense his craziness ran.

"No one is going to, I promise," he cooed in my ears. "Soon we'll be away from here. We'll be home soon."

"I am not going anywhere!" I made an attempt to move my legs to get out of this immobile condition. I could feel them but I couldn't control them fully. He had left me in a middle state.

He laughed. "It's so fascinating to watch you squirm."

I wanted to punch the amusement out of his eyes so badly that I could feel the throbbing in my knuckles and fingers. But all I could do was to gulp down the anger back.

"I hate you." I looked him square in the eye. "You're everything that's wrong with my life, you fucking asshole. You're the reason she died. You killed her!"

It was like so much pure hate had been residing inside of me all this time and it was bubbling to spew all over him. It wanted to watch this psychopath burn, to watch him suffer, the same way she did.

I could hear my own breath in the silence that followed my words. He remained planted to his spot for a while, then walked over to me, and cupped my face in his hands. I squirmed as he brought his face close to mine.

"I never told her to kill herself. She was weak, and you know it," the words rolled off his tongue laced with a threatening tone. "She was stupid enough to get trapped so easily and she was stupid enough that she almost made it impossible for me to get to you again."

His right thumb pressed harder against my skin. "Do you have any idea what I felt when I saw you leaving the town? Do you have any idea how long I had to wait to see you again. I was afraid she might have told everyone about me so I couldn't even follow you. I had no choice but to leave you with those people. And then I just waited until it was the right time to look for you again. Do you have any idea how hard these years have been for me? Do you?"

By now, my face was practically being between the force of his hands. He looked like a predator with his jaws set in a menacing manner and the whirl of anger in his eyes. The pressure of his fingers intensified to the level that I could feel the pain even through the numbness. I squirmed in my place but the cruelty in him didn't budge. He kept on making the hold stronger and stronger, as if it was giving him immense pleasure to watch me whimper in pain.

"You don't know a thing, Norah." His fingers finally let go of my jaw, just a second before it would have snapped, and then aimed for the back of my neck to tug it back as his face poised over mine, the sinister smile back in its place. "But you know what, if I could I would actually go back and kill her myself for what she made me go through."

"You're a sick bastard." I barked and pressed my head down against the couch in an attempt to make as much distance between the two of us as I could, even if it just a inch. "You used her. You made her hate herself. You were after me, right? So why did you do that to her?! Why the fuck would anyone do that to a fourteen year old kid?!"

Inside I was rattling the bars of the invisible cage, outside I felt worthless that I couldn't even punch the lights out of that one person who single-handedly destroyed my family.

He was immune to the hate that I was radiating. It seemed his amusement was doubling every word I uttered. I sucked in an unsteady breath as I felt his hands slide under my shirt and inched along the skin of my stomach.

"I like you when you're mad. It makes you more beautiful."

"Get away from me."

But instead his hands ran up more greedily, stop just under my breasts and stroking the skin there. Every single cell in my body revolted under his touch.

I looked up at him, an almost pleading look in my eyes not to go any further.

"Don't worry. I am not planning to do that," he whispered in my ear. "At least not tonight. I have everything planned. You're gonna love it."

With that he was up on his legs again, walking towards the window to take a look outside.

I kept my eyes closed as tears welled up in them.

I told myself in my head that it was just another nightmare. This wasn't happening.

But who was I kidding?I knew it was all true.

I knew it was possible that I might never see the end of this. He was the man who pushed my sister to death, so why was he going to show me any mercy?

I knew I might never again get to tell my parents how much I love them, to tell my dad that he was the greatest father in the world, and to tell my mom that I wanted her to come back. I might never get to tell my friends how much they mean to me. And I might never again get to run into Daniel's arms and tell him that he was my second chance at life. And that's what I wanted the most right now. To curl up as he held me and fall asleep listening to his breathing.

But instead here I was, lying on this couch, in this dark, cold and empty room, feeling more violated than I had ever been.

A cold gust of wind rushed inside from the window and I scooted further inside the couch. He had yanked off my coat earlier, probably just to make me suffer a bit more. It now lied in a puddle in the corner of the room.

I was right.

This was a nightmare, only one which had escaped to reality from my dreams.

"Where is he?" I heard him mutter under his breath, his eyes focused on the road that the building overlooked at. From his left pocket, he pulled out a phone and held it to his ears.

Everything was so silent around here that I could clearly make out the sound of phone ringing on the other side of the line even from this distance.

The ringing stopped as someone picked up.Clay yelled on the phone, "Where are you? I thought you said you would be here by now."

He looked perturbed, something that was contrasting to the calm exterior he had been putting up when dealing with me.

"You better be here in a minute," he spoke in a finalizing tone finishing the call.

There was an evident nervousness in his eyes as he took one last glance at the road before turning back to me.

"So that is your master plan? Drag your hostage out from here in front of everyone," I said, my voice feeling void of any modulation. "Someone's going to recognize me as soon as we step out of this building, you know that right?"

"Oh, don't worry, Angel," he said with the sweetest yet most fake smile ever. "There are more of them where that injection came from. I am not stupid enough to not knock you out first."

"Yeah, you're just stupid enough to wait around here knowing that someone will eventually come looking for me," I said sardonically.

He chuckled, leaning against the window-frame. "Oh that's the best part actually. Glad you noticed. I..." He stood up straight. "I wanted this to be special. I wanted those people to feel right what I did, when they took you away right in front of my eyes and I couldn't anything. Helpless, that's what I want them to feel. That's when I will get my revenge."

Yeah, as if you should be the one to talk about revenge, you jackass.

"So you're not just a bastard. You're a cocky bastard too," I said, bitterly. "I would love to see what happens to this cockiness of yours when my dad hauls your ass to the jail."

He laughed. It sounded like cacophony to my ears.

"Sorry to break your heart, sweetheart but he isn't coming. And that reminds me, sorry about your phone," he said feigning an apologetic look.

I felt a deep thud in my chest. "What did you do?"

He shrugged casually. "Nothing. Just sent a text to your father that you have already the doctor's office and on your way now. And then I made sure that your car was far far away from here. So this isn't where people would be looking for you. So anyway, yeah I was saying I am sorry for your phone. I had to break it. But it's okay I will buy you a new one when we get home. And this will teach you a lesson for not locking your phone." He pointed a finger at me, like reprimanding a child.

My head fell back as a sigh of despair left my lips.

So it was really true. I was never getting out.

I was trapped. No one was going to find me here. No one was ever going to find me.

Never.

My stomach churned at the thought.

I brought my head up again. "What's your real name?"

"And here I thought we would have a hard time getting along," he said with his mouth turned up in a mirthful smile.

I shot him a hard look.

He tipped his head to the side. "Nathan," he answered in a leveled tone. A smirk crept up again. "...or maybe Daniel. Which one do you like better?"

"Or maybe just asshole suits you better," I said venomously.

Instead of the hate, it should have been panic rushing in my veins, but it wasn't. There was this silence taking over my senses with a dark acceptance that this was it. This was the extent of lack of hope that I had now.

So Norah, this was what you came back for in Cassell, huh? Hope you got what you wished for.

I sighed, feeling defeated.

His phone rang, terrifyingly filling up the silence.

"Yeah?...okay...yeah third...okay"

And this when the panic finally kicked in. My breathing picked up and a cold rush flashed down my spine.

Clay ambled off to the door, took a look outside in the hallway, probably waiting for the whoever who was supposed to take us away from here.

This was a chance. This was the only chance I was maybe ever going to get.

With my eyes fixed on his every movement, silently I got down from the couch and started to crawl towards the window. My legs and arms felt heavy under the affect of what he had injected me with but I kept crawling.

I didn't allow myself to breathe audibly. I kept my mouth sewed close and gulped down the fear that was starting to accumulate in my mouth in the form of a sour taste.

It was a three storey fall, but it was my only way to escape. As soon as the other man would walk into the room, my chances were going to be even more slimmer.

Just a few feet more.

He was still standing with his back facing me, oblivion to what was going on when my jeans made a little bit too loud of a ruffle against the cold floor of the room.

My breath got stuck in my throat midway and the blood in my veins ran cold.

He turned around. And he didn't look so amused anymore.

With a frown, he broke into a run. I jolted back quickly towards the window.

"You little bitch!" he cursed striding towards me.

And then for a while it was like time ran at a lightening speed. I remembered lunging towards the window, going through the frame to catch hold of anything that could lead me out and then losing my balance as he grabbed me from the inside of the room.

I screamed as my chest collided against the hard exterior of the building, the only thing keeping me from falling was Clay's hold on my right hand.

"You're not going to get away this easily!" He yelled, foaming through his mouth. His one feet was planted on the frame of the window as half of his body peered out from it.

Which was worse?

It was either this fall or being taken away with this maniac.

I could make out the sound of someone entering the room, the footsteps approaching fast.

And then I had to think. Quick.

I looked at him through my tears.

There he stood. The man who did it all. The man because of whom my father had lost his sleep forever, because of whom my mom left us, because of whom Nathan was broken, and because of whom I had spent hundreds of days holding myself responsible for everything.

I wasn't.

I wasn't the reason she was dead. He was.

And as soon as that acceptance sunk in, any thought of saving myself that existed withered away.I was going to end up in a bad place with either of the choices I could make.

But if this was my end, I was going to take him down with me.

With that tenacity of my thoughts, I shot him one last glance, pressed my feet against the wall, and pulled him down with all power I could muster up.

This was it.

After that all I could make out was how two loud screams murdered the silence of that cold, dark night.
