Chapter-29
Hi!
First of all, I would like to give a shout out to Effat8982 for the gorgeous cover that she made for the story. Check it out, it's on the side. And also she's such an amazing person. I had such a nice time talking to her. She's both kind and encouraging. Thank you so much for supporting this story.
And now, with the chapter. This is actually a reallllllly long one and just a heads up you won't be very happy by the end of it, but don't worry there are still a lot of chapters to come. Don't lose hope just yet. =)
Enjoy ♥
------------------------------------------------------------------
The fastest hand of the desk clock, made of walnut wood, reached the number six, then moved to seven, then eight, nine and so on, and the sound of the hand making movements was the only thing one could hear in the otherwise silent office.
When my dad said that he had made an appointment with the therapist for "this week", apparently that meant the very next day, but since there was no use of fighting it, so I had agreed to come to the session with Dr. Rae Fraser. However, till now I had been completely mum when I was supposed to be pouring my heart out.
She sat one leg over the other, on a white wingback chair, her light eyes expertly trained on me. The stare was pointing, closely observing and mildly unnerving. I paid more attention to how she looked than the way she was looking at me.
A navy blue scarf tied in a complicated knot around the collar of her white oxford shirt, a deep grey pencil skirt which reached just past her knees completed the standard therapist attire. However her suede black Loubitons did stand out like a master piece among the crowd of blandness of her appearance. And one thing had been on mind since the second that I had walked in was that the way her shoulder length dirty blonde hair came down in chopped layers framed her pale skinned face, it reminded me of someone. In fact her whole face did, but I couldn't recall who.
I narrowed my eyes to think better.
That doesn't make sense. Why do we squint our eyes to think or pay more attention to anything?
"Are you thinking about it?" Dr. Fraser broke the silence of the room, and then adjusted the silver bracelet watch around her left wrist. "Do you think you can answer the question?"
I shook my head, giving out the impression of being confused. "I'm sorry, what was the question again?"
I knew she was already getting enough reactions from me to build a case of unusual behavior. I've been to enough number of such kinds of sessions that I was now very well aware of how the therapists went on with their questioning.
Dr. Fraser stayed silent, kept up a small smile and then quickly jotted something down in the notepad sitting on her lap.
"Okay, do you think you can talk about the day of Emma's accident?" she spoke, uttering every word slowly so as to assess my reaction during it. "For starters, do you remember the events that happened that day before you got the news."
I swear it wasn't just the AC that had kicked in which was responsible for the shiver that ran through my spine. I looked around the place to find my exit from this question and found it in the form of a small wooden photo frame lying on her desk.
"Is that your son?" I pointed to the picture of a smiling kid, around seven years old, with floppy blonde hair and missing a few teeth in the front.
"Yes, he is."
"He's really cute."
She was about to say something when my phone pinged with the standard iPhone message alert.
*Will be there in 5 min. Better be ready to leave*- Shay
"Hey, would you tell my dad if I left a little early today?" I asked, locking my phone again.
She still had that small, all-knowing smile intact. "Is it something important?"
"Yeah, not really but my friend, she'll be here in five minutes. We are supposed to go to this county fair," I answered. I hadn't been doing much of talking anyway, so I hardly thought that it made any difference if I missed the last ten minutes of the session.
It was like I had given her juicy new information to feast upon. "How long have you been friends with her?"
I so didn't want her to construct a questionnaire out of this. "Can we cover this in our next session? I really gotta go."
"You said you had five minutes," She gestured politely to sit down as I got up to leave. "It won't take long."
I huffed silently and sat down. "Since the day I rejoined this school after a year in Coral Hills."
She nodded and narrowed her eyes as she wrote something down again, and I took the time to work my brain to find the name of the person that she resembled.
I still couldn't remember.
"What about your other friends? Do you know any of them from the time before you left town?" She tipped her head to the right while asking.
"No."
"And the kids that you're friends with now, would you consider from them the popular bunch?"
"Yes."
One word answers were the safest in such cases.
"And you mentioned that during your time in Coral Hill high school, you were friends with Hillary, Anna, and Ginny. Am I right?" She talked in a manner like she was just asking that question casually but it was clear that she was already drawing conclusions from everything.
"Yes."
She adjusted the watch on her wrist once again. "And this girl, Anna," she took a pause, "she used to be best friends with-"
"Emma," I finished her sentence. "Yeah, they used to be close. Now am I allowed to leave?"
"Fine." She layed the notepad on the small glass table on her side. "But I want you to do something for me."
"What?" I asked, getting a impatient by now.
"When you get home today, I need you to be take out some alone time and imagine that Emma is sitting in front of you, and I want you to talk to her."
The classic empty chair activity. The oldest trick in a therapist's book.
"Do you think you can give it a try?"
I just wanted to get out of there. "Maybe." I stood up, picking up my bag from the couch. "Goodbye, Dr. Rae."
She nodded to acknowledge the sign off. "See you next week."
My phone clock blinked 7:23 pm as I headed down the stairs of the building which had Dr. Fraser's office on the sixth floor.
“Now please tell me how I am going to get back these six minutes of my life that I just lost," Shay announced loudly from the car, her feet up on the dashboard.
"Spend less time in caking up your face, darling. You'd be surprised how long a day actually is." I retorted back, clambering inside quickly and sending a nod in Liam's way who was steering the car out of the compound.
"Haha, so funny. As if you have the right to talk. The whole Kardashian Klan doesn’t stand a fighting chance against you when it comes to contouring skills." Shay turned around to shoot me a smirk but it soon slipped off as she took a look at my pale no-makeup face. "What happened? Cat got your make-up?"
I made a confused face. "What kind of phrase is that?"
"A pretty awesome one." Shay proudly gave a shoulder shrug. "So care to explain why do you look like Dobby, the house elf?"
"Geez! That's a really nice girl you found, Liam. Real kind with words, this one," I remarked, sardonically and sunk in the seat as I pulled my hair out of the bun and straightened it with my fingers.
Liam let out a silent laugh, his shoulders shaking. "That's really mean, Shay. Dobby is a little over the top. Hagrid might be more appropriate."
"Okay, it's final. You two are demoted and no longer my friends." I crossed my arm on in front of my chest as Shay kept giggling over the pathetic comment Liam had made.
I pulled out my compact mirror from my bag to see for myself how bad the situation actually was.
I'll admit it was bad, but like I-am-sick-and-haven't-seen-the-daylight-in-a-week-bad, not Hagrid-bad.
Hmm, Hagrid, Dobby...Harry Potter...J.K. Rowling.
That was it! That was what Dr. Fraser looked like. J.K. Rowling.
There. Mystery solved.
"Judging by that creepy smile look on your face, I'll assume you didn't listen to a single word I just said," Shay spoke, looking at me though the rear view mirror. I shrugged. "Clean yourself up and try to look a little more presentable."
"We're just going to a fair. It's dark and who the hell will care how I look like?" I whined, but pulled out my eyeliner from my bag anyway.
"Daniel will," Liam answered this time and the sudden surge of nervousness and fear that dashed inside me was frightening, and it grew as I understood what he meant.
"I thought it was just the three of us!" I couldn't moderate the shrilly way my voice came out.
"We thought it would make you feel like a third wheel so we asked Mike, Chad, Dan and Juliet to come too," Shay replied, her hands busy in tousling up her already loosely curled hair. "And at least I didn't include Abbey. Be grateful. Although Sebastian is coming. I hope it won't be much of a problem. Liam invited him before asking me."
"I'm really sorry," Liam spoke, looking at the rear view mirror. "It completely skipped my mind."
"No, it's okay," I replied, in a small voice.
As if Sebastian had to do anything with the sudden onset of nauseating fear inside of me. Then a doubt slipped into my mind and I couldn't help but ask. "Is Anya going to be there?"
Liam exchanged a look with Shay and that was the answer for itself. "I think she's coming along with Juliet."
The reasons that I shouldn't be going to this fair were collecting up.
"Juliet knows Anya?" No matter how much I tried, the questions were escaping out of my mouth before I could stop.
"Yeah, she has been friends with Daniel since the freshmen year, and I think she and Jules got introduced during that time," Liam explained, and I listened carefully along with Shay who apparently was listening to this news for the first time too.
Freshmen year? That was the year in which everything happened with Em, and I had to leave. How did I never come to know that they had known each other for so long?
"Hey, Mike told me you used to be friends with this girl," Shay said in an accusing manner. "Tell me that's not true. I literally hate this new girl and I don't want my friends to be friends with her."
"She was just someone I talked sometimes. Nothing much," I said, shrugging.
And that people was how you describe your best friend. Just someone you talk to sometime.
Shame on you, Norah.
"Please don't start your bitching right now," Liam groaned, stopping Shay from the reply she had in her mind. "Wait till we get there and I am safe and away from this dangerous girl world."
"You don't like listening to trash talk about someone and you're dating Shay. That's like the oxymoron of the century," I commented, sarcastically as I applied some clear lip gloss on my chapped lower lip.
"Shut up," Shay retaliated, rolling her eyes. "I just like to keep things interesting."
In response, I rolled my eyes too, and climbed out of the car as it came to a stop in the parking of the fair.
As we walked towards the stalls area of the fair where everyone was supposed to meet up, all that was lacking was scary piano music, because otherwise I was perfectly giving out the expression as if I was being taken to be murdered by a killer with a white ghost mask.
As you can tell I wasn't looking forward in seeing either of them. I had very tactfully planned my day around so as to I never had to cross paths with them, especially Daniel. I had even skipped Calculus to help Shay with her student council meeting preparation.
Let's just say, if there was an exam for the biggest chicken on the earth, I would be acing it with flying colors.
And quite frankly, I was fine in being called that as long as it saves me the trouble of confrontation, but as soon as I had received the text from Daniel last night, I understood I wasn't safe for long.
"We need to talk," the text had read. And then all the while I was hiding around the school today, I had gotten three calls from him, which I didn't take. Obviously.
Told you, huge chicken over here.
"Finally the princesses have decided to grace us all with their presence," Mike announced as we neared the low level wooden table that everyone was sitting around.
I did a quick scan of all the faces present.
Anya: Unfortunately for me, she was present.
Daniel: No sign of him.
That was a relief, I guess.
"Uh, someone please tell the girl over there that the way to New York Fashion week is over there. Talk about overly dressed," Shay scoffed, leaning towards me so that no one else could hear her.
It was obvious that she was referring to Anya who was wearing a black leather Bolero jacket over a grey tank, with blue denims that hugged her legs like a second skin. Her short height was improved by a pair of black peep toe platforms that had at least six inches on the heels. Her whole ensemble was completed by a dull golden book chain belt cinched around her waist and her hair tied in a trendy braid.
I looked down at myself. Black tunic top, and black and white tapered harem pants with white flats.
Well...
I walked over to take the space besides Mike and took a few of the chilli fries he had in front of him. He protested, and stuck his tongue out. As a form of reply I took more of those fries.
Juliet sent me a wave in my direction, and I mimicked the gesture, and at the same time pretended not to be noticing the odd look Anya was giving me, and then I quickly turned towards Sebastian who made a funny face when no one was looking. It sucked that we had to put up the act of not being on talking terms with each other even though I had forgiven him for all the lies that he had spread in the locker room long time ago.
I missed talking to one of the very few friends that I was now left with.
"We thought you weren't gonna show up," Chad called, and then my heart felt a sudden thud even though I wasn't even looking up. I didn't need to see. It was already known who it was.
"That was never an option," he spoke. I was listening him talk just after two days but it was like a new sensation. The fries in my clasp were shaking along with my hands, my breathing was uneven and I was pretty sure that the world was tilting.
God, help me.
I kept my gaze down, but can still tell as he took the seat in front of me. "Hey," he said.
I wasn't sure if it was even for me, so I looked up and found his eyes, blue and bright, aimed straight in my direction. Feeling suddenly even jitterier, I couldn't keep my eyes up for another second, and dropped them down instantly, but nodded my head slowly.
For some unknown reason I took a side ways glance at Anya, who had her eyes fixed on me, with a hard look in them.
I would have been astonished she could have even tried any less to hide her disgust towards me.
"Hey, I wanted to show you something. Come," Mike said, and without waiting for a split second pulled me up from the seat.
"Okay, why the hurry?" I asked once we were out of the earshot of everyone.
"You looked miserable there. Someone had to be your savior," he said, too proud of himself.
"Savior?" I raised an eyebrow at the big word, as we weaved through the crowd in a random direction.
"Yeah, savior, your superhero, whichever you like. It's up to you," Mike bragged with a smug smile, and then directed us towards a cotton candy stall.
"You're too full of yourself," I commented, and then chose a huge pink candy.
"Thank you. I know I'm awesome," he didn't look slightly bothered, not that it was easy to offend Mike anyway. He was some tough stuff. "So what's up with you and Danny boy?"
And as usual, my heart fluttered just by his name. How serious was my problem?
"I don't know you're talking about."
"Really?" Mike gave me a look of disbelief as he stuffed the big cloud of sugar and pinkness in his mouth. "Do we really need to go over the fact that how I'm really good at observing things and you're just lying again?"
That clever little rat.
I didn't have anything to say because I wasn't sure what exactly was up with me and Daniel either.
"You're running away from him for like the thousandth time, and this ‘old new’girl was like latched onto his side all the times today. Seriously it was like a preteen girl with her phone," Mike explained, moving his hands around along with each word.
Even though I had already guessed that Daniel and Anya were probably together today, it was still difficult to actually hear it.
I gulped down the lump in my throat. "I don't know about any of it. Anyway, so what's going on with you? Found any girl who finally deserves Mike, the great?" I asked bringing up a teasing smile up on my face, as the both of us joined the almost surprisingly non-existence line for the Ferris wheel.
"Nah, I am happy being the free man for now," he answered, breezily. "I'm too precious to be in a relationship."
I just laughed silently and then slipped in one of the cars of the giant wheel with a worker ushering us in.
By the time the ride was over, I was doubling over and laughing because as I came to know, Mike was extremely terrified of the Ferris wheels. He was clutching the seat the whole time while murmuring what I identified as a bible verse.
I didn't understand why he decided to accompany me to the ride if he had a phobia, but at least it had taken my mind off everything for sometime.
"I'm gonna go puke. See you later," a queasy looking Mike said and then rushed off before I could even offer him any sort of help.
I looked around to get an idea of how far I was from the bench where everyone else was, and found that I was almost the entire fair away from them.
Good.
I could wander here alone, away from everyone else until it was time to go back.
Yes, that was my master plan. I wasn't really bright when it came to these things, okay?
I was taking a stroll around the place, taking a quick look of the stalls when I sensed someone walk up to my side.
It was Anya.
"I have been looking for you," she told me, looking ahead as I kept walking.
"Really? Isn't this place a little too crowdy for you to kill me here?" I questioned, and hoped that she would just go away.
"You're not worth the trouble of going to a federal prison, sweety," she countered easily, with a fakest smile one could ever conjure.
"Are you sure you're actually over the thing in tenth grade because it sure doesn't feel that way," I taunted. It was hard being polite with her when all I could think about what Mike had told me.
Don't let it affect you, Norah, I repeated in my mind.
I was doing a lot of self-help talk lately.
"Trust me I'm, and anyway this is not about that."
"Yeah? Then what?" I showed as if paying more attention to the game stalls rather than Anya, but I was still listening to every single word she was saying.
"It's about him, and you know that," she said, in a levelled tone.
My head instantly whipped to face her. "What do you mean?"
"Oh, please just stop playing dumb," she scoffed, with a disapproving expression. "I know more than you think."
"You know nothing," I said, while making an attempt to keep myself from slapping that look off her face.
"Wanna bet? And it might come as a surprise to you but I know Daniel long before than you and I've seen him getting hurt because of you enough number of times, and I'm not letting it happen again." she said, with an undercurrent of challenge in it. "So all I am asking you to do is to leave him the hell alone."
What the hell was she talking about? Just one day ago I came to know that she even knew Daniel in the first place and here she was accusing me of things like she knew the whole story.
The nerves!
"First of all, I have no freaking clue what the hell you're talking about and second of all," I looked her square in the eye. "it's not something that you've a say over. It's between me and him, and you are no one to tell me what I should be doing and I shouldn't be."
She blinked at the stiff tone with which I spoke, but then expression came back to a look of hatred. "Maybe, I'm not. But I know that you know that I'm right," she said, a smugness sneaking into her voice. "He's already been through enough, and you're the worst person that he could be with right now, or ever for that matter. He doesn't need a person like you."
That might have been true but that didn't make it any easier to hear.
I stopped in my tracks and turned towards her. "A person like me?"
"Yeah," she replied in a way like she was bothered even by my mere existence. "A person like you."
"Tell me Anya Conrad, exactly when did you decide to become such a bitch?" There was no attempt from my side to hide the annoyance in my voice.
"The exact moment when I met another bitch," she retorted without wasting any time. "Wanna guess who she was?"
"No, thank you." I put up the most bogus sweet smile.
"So can I expect you to stay away from him?" She confirmed, crossing her arms in front of her chest.
"If you have eyes to see Anya, you would have noticed that that is exactly what I've been doing all this time today," I talked using a fabricated voice, just to let her know that her warning or whatever it was wasn't intimidating me.
"And that's how it should remain," she said, her voice finally going on the normal scale for the first time.
"Whatever," I mumbled and paced up my walk to get away from there. I decided on just going home, after texting Shay that I wasn't feeling very well.
I was curling and uncurling my fists to control the temper that was lingering just underneath a thin surface and was threatening to break free.
It was one thing for me to decide on my own that I didn't deserve Daniel and it was just another to hear it from someone else, especially that satan of an ex-best friend.
I was bottling up with a weird energy from all this, and I just needed a smoke. That's all I wanted. Smoke and hide in my room.
"What makes you think you can run away that easily?"
Automatically, my slid shut as I quickly took a deep breath and then turned to the direction of the voice.
I was not ready to have this conversation. Not yet.
I wiped the perturbed look quickly off my face, and made an honest attempt in trying to sound casual. "Hey, what's up? How was your interview? I bet you blew those MIT people away."
By the look on his face, it was clear that he wasn't going to play along 'normal' with me.
"Could you have possibly come up with even more pointless topic to stall the actual conversation?" he said, taking one step towards me and not letting his eyes flicker away from me once.
"I-I was um..ju-jus" I fumbled worse than a 2 year old.
"Norah! Get over here." Shay's voice called, giving me a chance to escape, but I guess by now Daniel had already estimated how my brain worked because before I could form a single word, he warned me in a stern. "Don't you even dare!"
"But I-" I protested, but it was too late because I was already being led away towards the area where the array of all the stalls and rides ended. It wasn't that distant than the rest of the place but not a single soul except the two of us occupied the place.
I would have protested, argued with him for dragging me here, but the moment he held my wrist to string me along, my mind had gone in a blank state. All my thoughts, all my plans, it was like they never existed in the first place.
It was something I hated and loved at the same time. What had he done to me?
"Okay, I want an honest answer. What's wrong?" He questioned as we came to a stop, but didn't drop my hand.
"Nothing is wrong," I answered, ignoring the field of butterflies that were filling up my stomach. Could he tell the change in my pulse rate?
Daniel closed his eyes, and exhaled, although I knew he was already expecting me to give a similar kind of answer.
"Can you try to stick with the truth just for once?"
As if telling the truth was something that I ever did.
I was going to reply with another vague answer but as I found then, sometimes my mouth worked without the permission of my brain, and I ended up blurting, "I didn't know you and Anya were close."
The accusation in the sentence was clear but probably wasn't something that he was expecting. A look of unadultered confusion coated his eyes. "No. We're-" and then his tone changed, as if he had just realized something. "It's not what you think. Anya and I-"
This was the moment for me to do what I had been meaning to and what Anya thought was right for Daniel, so I cut him in mid sentence, "I think you're great together."
For a moment, everything in him paused and when it came back to life, it was him being completely appalled. "What?!"
And then if his horrified look was like a eight out of ten, then mine was ten to the power of eight times, at what I had just said.
I had practiced this like five times yesterday. I knew this was what I was going to say so then why this sudden fear? Why was I feeling like I had made the biggest mistake of my life?
"She's a really nice girl and I think you'd be really happy with her," the words were falling out of my mouth before I could even think.
"Where is this even coming from?" His distress was shining crystal clearly from the way he uttered those words. "Believe me, there's absolutely nothing between us."
"You could give it a try."
No, stop talking you moron! Just keep your lying mouth shut close. Don't listen to me, Daniel.
Inside I was screaming, outside I was struggling to act sane because the pain I felt from the hurt look on his face was very real.
He had understood what I was doing here. Without saying the words, I had conveyed that I didn't want us to be together. The damage was done.
And then like I had seen him do it a several times before, he shut everything off. His eyes, just went from a swirl of several things to absolutely nothing in a second, and it was terrifying.
"And that's what you really want?" I subdued the urge to flinch at the dryness of his voice.
No, that was not what I wanted. What I really wanted was to end the distance that was between us, and I wanted to feel him close, close enough so that I could feel the warmth radiating from him. I wanted to watch him smile, with that dimple on his left cheek that I wanted to run my fingertips over. And I wanted to look into his eyes, that were twinkling under the lights, so blue and so beautiful, and tell him the truth. All of it. Tell him how just standing near him made every single cell of my body to feel alive, more alive I had ever felt.
"Yes, it's better for everyone." I let it out, using all the energy I had.
Any hope for a different answer that he might had was gone, and then so was he within a few seconds, after he turned around and left me there.
And as I watched his figure get lost in the crowd, I could feel my vision blurry as a result of the awful feeling that I was drowning in.
This wasn't the place to cry. I needed to get to home before anyone could see me like that.
"Nor, you okay?" I stopped walking at Sebastian's voice.
If I would have tried to answer, it would have been just with tears so I simply just shook my head, a single traitor tear falling from my eyes.
"Come here you," he murmured as he pulled me in a hug, wrapping his strong arms tightly around me. With my tears threatening to spill any moment, I buried my face in his chest.
"Please take me home," a whisper was all I could muster, and I hoped Sebastian had heard me.
"Okay," he simply answered as I pulled away from him to wipe the tear strains from my cheeks. "Just give me a second. I'll be back."
I fanned my face with my hands and exhaled in and out several times to pull my breathing rate to normal.
I looked around to see where Seb had gone when I spotted Anya standing a few feet away from where I was. Her face was masked, not giving out anything that was going on in her mind.
I hoped she was happy now. I had done exactly what she wanted.
"Okay, let's get you home." Sebastian jogged up to my side and then directed us both towards his car parked outside.
"Are you sure you wanna be alone right now?" Sebastian confirmed for the third time, as we came to a stop in front of my house.
"Yeah, I'll be fine," I replied in my croaky voice and then hurried out of the car, and towards my house which was all dark inside, a sign that Dad was not home.
Once inside my room, I fell on my bed, looking straight up towards the ceiling, with tears now leaking freely from my eyes and rolling of the side of my face.
It was safe to say that I had seen some bad days in the last few years but never had I ever felt like this. This was a new kind of sadness. A sadness that was constricting, suffocating and maddening.
The text notification alert of my phone ran like a loud noise in the silent room.
Sniffing, I tapped on it to find that it was from an unknown number.
*You did the right thing. Thank you- Anya*
My jaw tensed as I read the name that the text was signed with, and then the sadness was quickly replaced by this anger which was not seeing any reason, and before I knew it my phone was thrown up against the opposite wall. It fell on the ground in three separate pieces.
And as I stared at my destroyed phone, it was not regret that I felt but the fury just intensified.
After that it was like a tornado hit the room cause everything that my eyes were falling on was turned into a pile of useless crap within the next five seconds.
First it was the lamp, then the photo frames, the mirror, the books, the decorations. Nothing was left spared.
"Why did you leave, Em?" I shouted in between the sobs, as I flung the cushions from my bed onto the floor. "Look how I am now!"
Dr. Fraser wanted me to talk to her right? So that was exactly what I was doing. But then why wasn't it making me feel better?
I picked up the picture frame from my dresser and was ready to toss it too but then realized what it was. It was the same photo Daniel had given me.
Then like a switch was turned off, my anger died instantly, and I landed on the ground, back in tears.
"I am tired of all this," I mumbled to myself, after I had cried for a good ten minutes. "I can't do this anymore. I don't wanna lie anymore."
My eyes were droopy, opening and closing after every few seconds. I wanted to sleep and maybe wake up to a better reality.
"I-I don't wanna lie anymore," I kept repeating, wishing to just fall asleep quickly.
"I-I," the words were now getting hard to form and just as I was about to fall completely on the ground, I felt two arms enclose me in them, holding me up again.
"Shh, it's okay. Don't cry," a voice whispered.
"Nathan?" I tried to open my eyes, fighting the sleep that was taking over.
"Yeah, it's me, little bird. I'm here. Go to sleep."
Nathan's presence somehow always had a calming effect on me and within a matter of a few seconds I was slipping into a peaceful sleep.
Nathan was here. Everything was going to be alright now. He would make everything all right.
--------------------------------------------
So I'm not sure how this chapter turned out, because it was really long and I wrote it over a duration of several days so it may seem fragemnted. I might rewrite it if it seems too weird. So I need you to tell me honestly what you thought about it, okay?
And now Nathan's here!! Finally! I know a lot of you (well almost all of you guys), have said in the last chapter how Norah is doing the wrong thing, but fear not, Nathan's here to save the day and maybe knock some sense into her. Tell me in the comments what you are expecting next!
