August 1977, Ministry Of Magic
Corridor 23, corridor 234.
Regulus Black was walking through a hall of identical corridors full of dark, blue, big spheres, being careful not to touch any of these strange things nor to make any sound. It was a very important mission.
Corridor 235, corridor 236.
He had been told to be careful with not making any sound, because even if it was in the middle of the night, the Ministry Of Magic always had guards to protect things as valuable as the one he was searching.
Corridor 237, corridor 238.
It was nothing personal, really. The Dark Lord, Who Must Not Be Named, wanted a specific prophecy, and he, as one of his best servants, had to go find it. Even if his oh-so-beloved father had told him it was because of that, he knew only someone related in the prophecy had the right to find the sphere, and was somehow curious and scared about knowing his future.
Corridor 238, corridor 239.
There it was.
He knew exactly where it was. He extended his hand and grabbed it. It had to be this one. Blue, bright, mysterious. Just like all the others. Well, he thought, let's see what the future holds for the younger of the Black siblings.
He took a deep breath and looked into the crystal. What he saw was not what he was expecting. He was expecting a voice to say something, maybe some terrifying pictures, but no. All he saw were some quick scenes. Three, to be specific.
In the first one he saw showed two thirteen year old teenagers. The first one had bright red hair and beautiful green eyes one could admire from one mile away, but her face was red in anger and her mouth, which could perfectly show a wonderful, opened, smile, was now curved, reflecting how mad she was. And the person she was mad to? The boy right in front of her. He had black, messy hair and hazel eyes hidden behind his glasses, but he, unlike the girl, was smiling, or better said, smirking shamelessly at the girl's anger.
"You alright, Evans?" He asked with an amused smile.
"What do you think!" She answered shouting, pointing it out as a fact, not a question.
"You are cute when you are angry, you know that, Evans?" He said, and the girl turned even more mad, if that was possible.
"And you are an asshoe when you are yourself, you know that, Potter?" She replied, just to find the boy smirking and looking at her in awe and love, even if she couldn't see it.
The scene vanished and Regulus was still staring at the ball, asking himself what the Merlin had this thing to do with him, or the Dark Lord. But before he could arrive to any conclusion, the sphere started showing him the second scene, which would leave him more confused than before.
This time, it showed the same two teenagers, just some years later. Regulus guessed they were around their seventeens, and he identified the background as the Hogwarts Quidditch field, which meant the two teens were probably in their seventh year at Hogwarts, just two years older than Regulus at the moment.
They were flying on some brooms Regulus couldn't identify, but he could tell that they were having fun. Well, at least the messy haired boy was. The girl... well, he wasn't so sure about that. She seemed a bit scared, although she was (at least in Regulus' eyes) quite brave, and she was actually flying pretty high, so Reg thought she had all the right to be scared. The black haired boy was flying around her, grinning like an idiot and letting go some funny comments -"Come on Evans, let go the Gryffindor you've got inside!"- and she was just laughing and letting go a smart answer -"You mean it's not already outside?"-. And then, they kissed each other with such love and passion Regulus even got a bit jealous.
But this one, just like the other, vanished really quick and let Regulus alone with his thoughts again. What did a boy and a girl have to do with him? Why was this important to him? Who were these lovers? How old were they now? Was the prophecy-if one could call it that- showing, past present or future? But, again, it started showing another scene, though Regulus wasn't sure what that meant.
The last scene was in a house, the two lovers' home, if Regulus' guess was right. They had a little kid with them, who could perfectly be the younger version of the boy with glasses-or should he say man-, so Reg thought he must be their kid. They were having fun and enjoying this perfect, wonderful Halloween night, since they had the whole house decorated with pumpkins, candles and they had even turned their ceiling like the one from Hogwarts' great hall. The Halloween mood was in the air, and everyone could feel it. Then Regulus spotted a black silhouette inside the sphere, like a man entering the room where the family was having fun.
But the scene ended there.
Regulus was speechless. He didn't know what that scene meant. Why was this related to him? He was hundred percent sure that the silhouette was Lord Voldemort, his master, but why would he want to kill such a happy and sweet family? And who were the boy and the girl? And why did he feel like he knew the boy from somewhere? He had noticed they were Gryffindors, and he didn't pay attention to this house's members, unless, of course, of-there it was! Sirius! The glasses boy wasn't Sirius, but he had seen him with his brother almost every time he looked at him!
So the boy's name must be either James Potter, Remus Lupin or Peter Pettigrew... but he didn't have a clue about the redhead girl. Using that theory, plus his great Slytherin mind, he guessed the three scenes he had seen were Sirius' friend's life... And it ended with the last scene.
If the boy-he was pretty sure his name was Potter- was going to get killed, Sirius would be very, very sad. Or angry, knowing his brother's way of showing his emotions. Reg knew his brother loved his friends and trusted them with his life, and he didn't want him to be depressed, even more if it was because of a death without any important causes, because Regulus was pretty sure Potter hadn't done anything ethically wrong.
The good thing was, that prophecy probably showed the future, because Sirius was only starting seven year now, the one in the second scene. Well, that was going to be the future, but-and according to his Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher- a prophecy was only showing one of the different possibilities of the future, and, depending if you wanted to believe it was the only one or not, it could be the actual future or not.
No, he decided, I am not letting this happen.
He pulled the prophecy inside his pocket and thought what he was going to say to the Dark Lord, the one who could actually go inside his memories and know exactly what he was planning to do. He pulled out his wand, and with a quick movement he whispered 'obliviate', and it was all gone.
All, but his plans of betrayal.

Well,w hat do you think?
Actual Jily and Marauders scenes will be introduced in the next chapter! But I like these kinda mysterious prologues :)
Question: would you like to read about Regulus? Even if he was in the prologue, I am not planning on making him appear in a while, but would you like some Regulus-Sirius moments or something?
Umm that's it... Have a great day? :)
