Chapter 4

--= Jerome's + POV =--

Raising my chin towards the sky I took in a deep breath of the fresh air. The river was a few feet away, trickling down.

Ever since Preston burnt down the forest, we made our camp by the river. The one Lachlan showed me oh so long ago.

A rise of nostalgia washed over me as Preston's smile flashed inside my head. Maybe if I trim my fur a bit I'll be aloud to search the Nether?

....... No, Lachlan and everyone else wouldn't let me. Lachlan is really the only one who isn't freaking out as much as everyone else.

So even though Lachlan is deterializing, his deterialization isn't as bas as Rob's, or Mitch's, or even mine.

Vikk and Lachlan have pretty much been the glue keeping us together, away from snapping and hysteria,

but Vikk has been working his but off and Lachlan is starting to become unsure. Hey, we all have our flaws, I'm just afraid they don't go too far,

because right now is not the good time for the rope that's keeping us a float to get majorly depressed and lose hope. I don't know,

we all need to have a meeting as soon as Vikk comes to. Letting out a breath I didn't know I was holding in,

I grasped another breath of fresh air, tensing at what I found..... That's impossible... How the hell is Preston's scent on the surface?!

Taking in another breath, I followed the direction of the scent. Wind blew tufts of fur out of my face as I hurriedly bashed my paws into the ground.

Leaping and trying whatever method of running I could just so I was able to run faster. My heart danced around anxiously,

awaiting to see what I might find as my mind screamed endless possibilities of the outcomes of once I finally pin pointed the scent and found Preston,

or Preston's scent at the end of it. Brushing past branches and leaves, I barged through like it was a competitive sport, and stopped as soon as the scent grew stronger.

If it really is Preston, he isn't that far away. Keeping a steady pace, I picked my sprint back up again, going slower in case it was indeed just a false.

Peeking through the bushery of leaves, I saw something looming in the center. It's head seemed to be bowed down, but large,

draconic wings were attached to the things back. A tail lay on the floor, obviously attached to the demon.... But something was up,

it didn't seem to have the same posture as Preston did. This thing didn't look like Preston from a distance at all.

There was a warmth in Preston's posture, and his tail always curled around his legs defensively, not hostively.

Now? This must be a different demon..... It can't be him. The urge to go up to the demon and question him was tempting.

But I can't do anything if he decides to attack..... I need back up. Opening my mouth to call the others since camp wasn't too far away.

I coiled back to notice the figure turning around, now facing my direction. The demon's eyes were pure black and judging by it's expression, it didn't look happy.
