"Can't believe I'm doing this." Complaints spewing out of my mouth hurriedly, toppling off my tongue one after another Rob just shot me a look to hush and fall asleep.
"Why wouldn't you let anybody else watch me?" I groaned. Glaring at Rob for as long as I could he cocked an eyebrow at me as if the answer was obvious, realizing it wasn't, he spoke.
"Mitch loves to snuggle and Jerome needs to sleep as well, they're both severely exhausted and you really trust yourself alone with Lachlan?" Rob chuckled.
His brown eyes glowing with care I huffed, slumping my head against the pillow I furrowed my eyes closed, a grin tickling my lips.
"Well, I wouldn't really object if he tried."
I murmured. Sliding one of my eyes open to see Rob's face a bright red, practically the defition of the colour of Rudolph's nose I snickered as my eyes slipped closed.
"I bet you'd say the same for Preston." I yawned. My lips sliding wide open as I felt myself sink deeper into the sleeping bag, Rob said nothing but the presence of embarassment rushed through the room.
"Preston isn't like that." Defending Preston, Rob stuck his head up high as a forced frown puckered upon his lips, making it easy to know he was trying not to doubt himself.
"Mmm? Well, we can only hope." I laughed softly as the distant shouts of Rob's protests swiftly faded away gracefully as darkness seeped inside of my mind.
The pitch black oozed into red as waves of heat washed over my body. Sweat beading down from the top of my forehead and sliding down the left side of my face, I glanced through the area,
still only seeing red. Lips curving downwards, I stuck one leg out cautiously, then tapping it onto the ground to hear the tapping of my foot colliding with floor.
The murky red swimming through my vision I repeated the process of checking to see where there was floor just incase there was a gap. Finally seeing something shining inside of wherever I was,
I made my way over to it in a hurry as my hand gripped it tightly, realizing it was a doorknob. Doorknob? Eyebrows furrowed, I clicked the door open to greet myself to the sight of a hallway.
The walls were stained with gore and blood stained all across the walls and floors. Slumped over bodies unable to identify lay sprawled across the hallway, their guts seeming t spill everywhere I looked.
"What the hell..." I breathed out. Heart twisting as my mind churned into calm panic, I checked the back of me to see that was where the hallway had opened. Other passages through there, I shook my head deciding to go down to the end of the corridor.
More gore passing by which made me feel like I was going the right way, it still felt like I was making the worst decision possible.
Why did I even agree to sleep, it was probably all just a set up for whatever is going to happen. Huffing as my feet tapped impatiently, I forced myself to accelerate my footsteps.
Eventually, after what felt like forever, I dawned upon a cell which was entirely abandoned. Out stretching my hand, I gently tugged on the door to see it topple down completely.
The door bashed up and covered in claw marks, inside of the jail cell I saw a knife stabbed inside of a corpse in the centre of the wall facing me.
The corpse's eyes glazed over as his mouth hung open, his face didn't seem familiar to me. The helmet he wore had three yellow feathers sticking out of the top,
and seemed to have a hole shaped like a hand inside of it. The insides of his head all across the floor, my eyes widened to see the sickening sight of a mass murder.
Inching closer to the corpse, trying to see if I could recognize it, I felt it be fit to take the knife inside of the body's chest. Squirming sounds sloshing around, the knife detached and a river of blood sprout out of the gap where intestines could be seen.
"Oh I hate this so much..." Gagging, I tore my eyes away from the river of blood spouting out of the body. Stomach bubbling with uncomfort,
I made my way to the exit of the cell only to see a figure standing in the hall, his back facing mine the large wings attached to his shoulders blades looking like they should be looming above him
menacingly were now drooping to the floor, folded and beaten. Blood splattered across his entire body as a tired laugh blurted from his lips. Remaining where I was, not wanting to move a muscle, he spoke.
"So you did come after all...." His voice shot daggers through me. Turning around, his eyes shining with tears the brown eyes I came to knew over the past year or so caused water to push into my eyes.
My lips parting, my voice failed me as I took a jagged step forwards. Taking a step as well, his whole body shook violently as he reached out a hand.
The desperate look on his face scarring into my mind my legs tremored. Mind snapping in an instant I felt my feet fly against the floor of reddened brick from blood shed my arms raked in goosebumps and fear.
Adrenaline pounding deeply inside of every inch of my body as my arms punched the air, picking up speed more and more and more every second Preston's eyes went wide as he keeled over.
Blood spilling out of his lips as tears splattered to the ground, his knees went out from under him as he began to fall. Lunging from my position,
I spread my arms out as they wrapped around him and my knees slammed into the floor. Waterfalls aching from my eyes, I held onto Preston tightly as his whole body shuddered with every breath he took.
The look in his eyes knowing and defeated, I hugged him tighter as he cried silently into my shoulder. His face looked to the wall, away from me as I felt warmth spread onto my skin and ooze down my body.
Iron overwhelming my nose with every breath I took, a sickening feeling continued to wash over me, wave after wave the feeling got worse until Preston suddenly went limp.
Eyes widening I grasped his shoulders as I moved his face inches away from mine. His eyes were closed as his lips lay still and pale. Horns sprouted from his hair,
curving towards one another equally, and the wings he was attached to lay sprawled across the ground.
Blood poured from every limb of his body and one of his eyelids were bruised and covered in red and gore. Stiffling a sob, I cupped a hand to my mouth as I leapt into Preston's limp arms.
"Preston...You can't be dead..." Head resting on Preston's chest, searching for anything, all that welcomed me was the sound of rushing red trickling like water out of his body.
Hugging Preston tightly, I gasped to feel something sharp pierce through my back and poke through my chest. Slowly tearing my gaze from Preston's face, I saw a huge spike poking out of my chest.
More tears aching away from my face I let out a cry, looking back up at Preston I saw a calm smile perk onto his face before it disappeared again.
Snapping, my lungs burned as wails rang through the hallway. Skin shredding inside of me, I didn't stop. Tears flowed hurriedly down the sides of my face as my eyes scrunched shut.
Not knowing who the blood belonged to anymore I hugged Preston tightly as we kneeled beside each other.
Shaking my head violently, the energy slowly sapped away through time until I was gasping for air, my head laying on Preston's shoulder,
a ragged breath pursed through my lips as the black that had met me in the beginning came to greet me once more into the end.
