Relapse

Everyone was eating breakfast when Audrey started twitching.
"Audrey, are you OK?" Aaron asked, concerned. Audrey was silent. Her head whipped towards Aaron and she punched his jaw. Aaron's head was jerked back and he looked at Audrey with a scared expression on his face as he held his jaw. Audrey shook and fell of the stool she was sitting on. She lay on the floor, still twitching, and then she started thrashing around and screaming. Aaron jumped up and tried to help Audrey, but only got a kick in the stomach. Laura rushed over to Audrey and tried calming her down, but it wasn't working. Laura left for another room and Aaron tried going back over to Audrey. Her eyes were bloodshot and wild, she looked around her with an immense fear, obviously not trying to hide it. Laura came back into the room with a needle, and put it in Audrey's arm. Audrey slowly started to doze, and eventually fell asleep. Aaron picked her up and followed Laura to Audrey's room, and lay her on the bed. Laura set up a machine and connected things to Audrey's head. The 'things', as Aaron describes, were suction cups connected to wires connected to a machine. A screen showed something like a heart monitor, but Laura said it measures neurological surges. In other words, brain waves. Aaron watched nervously, not understanding what everything meant. After what seemed like hours to Aaron, Laura turned to him with a grave expression on her face.
"The facility messed with her brain and rewired it to attack you. I thought I fixed it, but she's having mental relapses." Laura explained.
"So, will she ever remember me and get rid of the relapses?" Aaron asked. Laura's brow furrowed.
"She will remember you, but the relapses might never go away. Its not impossible, but improbable. But it won't always be this severe. She will eventually have quiet relapses, and won't attack you."
Aaron looked at Audrey again. She was starting to wake up, but the monitor screen wasn't beeping so loudly, and the measurements of severity were smaller. An hour later, Audrey's brain waves were normal again, and she woke up. Audrey was crying, despite the fact that Aaron was trying to calm her and had his arms around her.
"I t-told y-you! I'm a m-m-monster!" Audrey said between sobs.
"Shhhh, you are not a monster, you are my loving girlfriend, it's what they did to your brain. It's not you. Its OK, you are not a monster." Aaron softly whispered as Audrey's eyes drooped.
