Remember

Jay had ran through the forest. His head hurts, his leg was stinging, and there was some red substance on his shirt.

He thought Ras would help him.

Not kick him off the team the second Jay lost.

He sat down on his knees, and his vision blurred. Next thing he knew there was water coming from his eyes.

Small water droplets.

He didn't hear the bushes rustle, or the short gasp. He didn't pay attention.

Then, two small pink sleeved hands landed on his shoulders. He flinched.

A girl, the girl, Mia, the one who was trying to convince Jay she was his sister.

" Are you okay?" She softly asked.

Jay sighed. " Great. Another person who saw me fail my master."

" Jay, you didn't fail your master. In fact, if he were here, he would be happy of you."

Jay shook his head, and let out a sob. " No he wouldn't. He kicked me off the team."

Mia sighed. " You'll get it, Jay. One day."

Then she noticed his cuts. " How long have you been walking for?"

Jay shrugged. " I dunno. Few days, maybe. Since Ras kicked me off the team."

Mia's worry only deepened. " Jay, that was two weeks ago."

She sighed and took a look over. " This way. I'm gonna try to help with your cuts, and then you're gonna tell me everything."

Part of Jay wanted to run, to say he was fine.

But another part was urging him to stay, to get the help he needed.

Before he could say anything, though, Mia had lifted him over her head and started walking.

" Uh, could you maybe put me down?"

Mia raised her brows. " Still afraid of heights, I see."

Jay stared at the girl who was carrying her. How the heck did she, of all people, know?!

Before he could ask, he was hit by a leaf.

And then another.

And another.

" Sorry!" Mia said when she saw her brother wincing.

Jay sighed. " It's okay, I guess. But seriously, put me down! I can walk!"

" I'll be the judge of that." They came to a clearing.

In front of them was a boxcar.

It had all these colorful doodles which made Jay relax a bit.

Mia set him down and helped him in.

" Sit on the table," she said, pointing to an inviting bed. " I have to get something."

Jay winched as he hobbled to the bed and sat down. He looked around the car in wonder.

There were pictures of the girl, the enemies and.... Him?!

Young him, young her. Holding porcupines, saving dolphins, riding waterfalls. It was quite the sight.

He cocked his head. " Are these photoshopped?"

Mia turned from the sink, where she was washing her hands. " No." She said as she wiped her hands.

" I don't remember this!"

Mia shook her head and sighed. " You will one day. Trust me."

Then she said, " does your head, stomach or foot hurt most?"

Jay blinked. " Uh.... Stomach?"

Mia nodded. " Lie down and lift your shirt, just enough so I can see the wound."

Jay hesitated.

" Dude! I literally see Kai shirtless. Every. Day. I think I can handle seeing your stomach."

Jay sighed and lifted, albeit reluctant. Mia started right away, using her water to get fresh, tap water into a bowl and dabbed a towel in it.

" This might hurt a little." Mia warned as she softly dabbed the wound to clean the blood. Jay winched, but before he could do anything, Mia's hand found his. " Don't worry." She said. " You'll be fine."

She quickly cleaned the rest of it and got a large bandaid.

" It's not too large for you to need stitches. But take it easy, okay?" Mia said as she placed the bandaid on the cut, her warm hand slightly touching Jay's stomach.

Jay nodded. " Thanks. But why are you helping me?"

Mia.looked at him square in the eye. " Helping is the ninja way."

Then she turned to get antibiotics for his foot. " You used to have that one pat."

Jay cocked his head but didn't say anything. He watched as Mia took out bandages and other stuff he had no idea what they were or did.

" Okay, let's treat your foot and head BEFORE checking you out."

" H... How do you know all this?" He asked, his voice wavering as Mia spread the cream on his wound on his foot.

" I was a medical person." Mia said.

A black cat came from the corner. " You were a vet. Tell him that."

" What's a vet?" Jay asked.

Blackie turned to Jay. " What's with him?"

" Nothing. Hand me the bandage, would you?"

Blackie pawed Mia the roll. She smiled and started wrapping Jay's leg.

" So what happened? What did you do when you woke up?" Mia asked as she wrapped.

Jay sighed. " I woke up at the administration and worked there for a good half year before working two more as Manager. Then the... Yellow thing with the bone lady.... It knew I had elemental powers. So I fled. Ras found me, and the rest you know."

Mia sighed and finished wrapping his leg before suprising him and pecked his cheek. It made his body all warm and tingly, though he didn't know why.

" How do you feel?" Mia asked as she picked a dangly thing and put two parts of it in her ears and the third thing, which was metal and round, under his shirt. He winced at the coldness, but replied, " I'm okay."

" Any signs of dizziness or whatsoever?"

Jay shook his head.

" How many fingers am I holding up?"

" Two."

" Good. Youre okay." She put the thing away and helped him sit up. " We need to get you home."

" Your... Home? As in the home where the enemies live?"

Mia sighed. " Not enemies but, yes."

Jay gulped. " I trust you."

******

* WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!" Kai yelled.

" HE'S TOO DANGEROUS!" Cole added.

Jay stepped in front of Mia and light his hands on lightning. " You want me to kill you?" He challenged. " Because I can. This girl saved my life, and I would be happy to do the same."

Mia put her hand on Jay's arm. " Jay, stop. That's my job."

Jay blinked.

Mia sighed. " You'll find out soon."

Nelson, unlike the others, ran to Mia and hugged her tight. " You found him!"

Mia laughed. " Yes, Nelson. I did."

" This is so exciting! Let's go celebrate! Does Jay still like chicken wings? Oh, and does he like chocolate chip cookies and ice cream? And does he like cones or a cup? Oh, and ......"
