CHAPTER THREE

"Take that!" the octopus yelled, flinging a punch at the demon. "And that"

Okay, now the OCTOPUS is talking? I thought.

"Run away! Go! Now!" shouted the octopus. I nodded and ran. I ran out the door at the end of the hall which I had somehow found, and ran outside.

"Oh. No," I mumbled under my breath along with a few not very nice words. The sky was dark with a blanket of clouds. It looked like rain. I decided to go to the safest place I could think of right then. My friend, Brendon's house. Strangely, I could remember where I had to go, even though I was panicking like crazy. It was a good thing that his house wasn't too far away. Literally, it was across the street, but it felt like forever before I got there.

When I got there, I pounded on the door with my fists and yelled,

"Help! Lemme in! Please!" To my surprise, Brendon opened the door fast. One look over my shoulder and he hugged me. After a moment's hesitation, I hugged him back.

"Thank goodness you're okay!" he said, relieved. "I thought you were hurt!"

He took me by the arms and held me away from him. He was about a head and a half taller than me, so I looked up at him and then said,

"I'm fine. I just escaped a monster and ran here."

"So, a monster and a purple octopus are fighting in your house?" he asked, pointing behind me and sounding slightly amused.

I looked behind me at my destroyed house and looked back at him.

"yeahhhhh," I said with a small laugh.

Brendon's little sister, Kayla came running to hug me. She just noticed me because she was watching Dora.

"Kay-Kay!" she screamed. My real name is Katie but. she calls me Kay-Kay.

Behind Brendon, the TV switched channels to the emergency weather reporter.

"A storm is coming," said the news reporter, somewhat urgently. You could tell she was trying to keep calm and couldn't wait to go home. "This storm is off the scale," she continued, " Protect yourself, there's no-" The power went out. The TV clicked off. The lights went out.

"Inside," Brendon ordered. All traces of laughter were gone from his expression which now was serious as ever. "You'll be safer in here," he explained as he ushered me inside locking the door.

Well, he was wrong.

A/N       Hey guys. I forgot to mention that this was a task where we had to include certain things in our story. a.k.a the giant purple octopus, the random storm, etc. but most of this is mine. The demon and everything else is a choice I made. Thanks!
