Biana

"No."  Fitz said, shaking his head.  "It could kill her."  

"Please, Fitz.  It's the only way."  Biana said glumly.  Dex, Biana, Keefe, Fitz, and Amy were all gathered in Biana's bedroom at Everglen for a meeting on how to bust Sophie-after-the-leap. Normally, Biana wouldn't let anybody in her room unless it was for a make-over, but this was an emergency: "Sophie" was going to be arriving any minute.

"Yeah, Wonderboy.  Don't you want the real Sophie back?"  Dex added, making a look of annoyance cross Fitz's face at the nickname.

"Please."  Amy's said quietly, almost a whisper.  She lifted her head off of her knees and gazed at Fitz.  "I want Soybean back."  

Fitz sighed.  "Fine.  But make sure you have the antidote ready."  He glared at Dex.  Dex fumbled in his pocket for a small vile and held it up for everyone to see.

"Right here, and not going anywhere."  He said confidently.

"Besides, she won't need it.  Foster's one of a kind.  No one else is allergic to limbium besides her."  Keefe added.

"I know, it's just..."  Fitz trailed off.

"Risky."  Biana finished.  And they all knew it was.  The plan was simple - or so they hoped - to get the real Sophie back.

"All right, so here's the plan."  Biana said, making Keefe and Dex role their eyes.

"You've only said it four times already, Biana."  Fitz groaned.

"Yeah, and Foster's going to be arriving any minute-now."  Keefe added.

"One more time.  Real quickly, just to make sure we all got it."  Biana promised.

"Oh, I'm sure we all have it memorized."  Keefe muttered.  Biana glared at him, and his smirk disappeared.

"So."  Biana started, once she had everyone's attention again.  "The plan is simple.  We're all here for a sleepover.  When Sophie-after-the-leap comes, we act like everything's normal, and do the usual routine.  Base-quest, mallowmelt, truth-or-dare, anything that's fun.  Until the hot-cocoa."

"Until the hot-cocoa."  Keefe echoed, earning another glare.

"Fitz and I will make the cocoa for everyone, and then put the limbium in Sophie's.  Then, we'll pass it out to everyone until Fitz gives Sophie-after-the-leap hers -"

"Why does Wonderboy have to give it to Foster?  Why can't the Keefester do it?"  Keefe whined.

"Because, Keefe, Sophie-after-the-leap was probably told to trust Fitz the most.  It's the whole cognate-thing and all."  Biana said, rolling her eyes at the "cognate-thing."

"Yeah.  They do have matching rings, and all."  Amy added, a smirk on her face.

"Hey, the rings help us to see when our minds are connected."  Fitz protested.

"Psh.  When your minds aren't already together."  Keefe snorted, making Dex, Biana, and Amy burst out into laughter.

"You guys don't understand.  It's a-"

"Telepath thing."  Keefe, Dex, Biana, and Amy all said together before Fitz could say it.

"Ugh!"  Fitz threw his hands up in the air.  "I give up."

"Okay."  Biana said, trying to keep a straight face.  She cleared her throat.  "Ahem.  So, once Sophie-after-the-leap drinks her cocoa, and she doesn't react.  Then we bust her."

"Yes, but how do we bust her?  What if the parents don't believe us?"  Amy asked worriedly.

Everyone was silent, trying to think of an answer, until Della poked her head into the room from the doorway, and said the two words everyone had been dreading.

"Sophie's here!"
