Chapter twenty three

I woke up, soundless, the killer still asleep. I quietly got up without waking him, I slowly got up and left the room soundless. I headed over to the foods room but on the way, I saw Kylo weeping over Hunter's dead body. I could easily see his corpse laying lifeless. "I'm sorry for your loss."

"Yeah, but look on the bright side. We're alive."

"Yes we are, and we can go home today."

"You hungry?"

"Yes. Very hungry." We headed over there to make some breakfast. "We should make a big breakfast to celebrate our survival." Kylo suggested. "That's a great idea. Surprise the other two."

"What should we make?"

"Eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast." I suggested.

Ok, I'll make the bacon and toast, while you make the eggs and hashbrowns."

"That sounds good, plus I make really good eggs." We got down to cooking immediately. The smell made me so hungry. Once it was done, we set everything on the table. Napkins, forks, cups and plates. Bowls full of food, ketchup if any one wants. It was all set. Good thing because Ethan and Samantha came in. "You came just in time, breakfast is ready."

"Did you guys get this all set up for us."

"Yep. To celebrate our survival."

We all gathered around the table to eat. I felt much better, and most of the food was gone. We each took some left over. I took the eggs, Kylo took the hashbrowns, Samantha took the bacon, and Ethan took the toast. Usually Kylo and Hunter take the bodies out to the dumpster, but this time Hunter's body gets dumped. Kylo and Ethan took the body out to the dump. Kylo called the garbage truck to come and take the bodies.

I went to pack up my things. My blanket, pillow and all my clothes. I delivered the book back to the library. I also rearranged the class like it has been the way I've found it. I put the couches back and put my suitcase by the front door. Once I finished, I went down to see Kylo and see if he needed help. His door was wide open and I walked right in.

"Do you need help?"

"Nope. I'm fine." He was packing his clothes in his suitcase. "You sure?"

"I'm done."

"Ready to go home?"

"Yes. You?"

"Yep. I'm going to miss this, though."

"Same."

It was close to 10:30 am. Another hour and a half to go before we leave. We walk down to the front to see Samantha and how she's doing. "I'm so excited to be going home."

All three of us headed down to see what Ethan's up to. As soon as we stepped into the purple pod, Ethan stepped out of his room all packed. We were ready to go home.

It was noon and we all hopped in the car and the first stop was mine, since I was closest. "Turn right here." We made it to my house. "Bye guys."

"Bye." I stepped out of the car. "Bye," everyone else says as I wave to them and leave. I heard the car pull out and drove off to the next person's house. I knocked on the door and I heard running and screaming from inside. The door opens and -"Kayla, Makayla, Makayla." Everyone shouts at me as I step in the door. "Hello everyone! I missed you!" I gave them all hugs. Jojo and Papa were sitting on the couch waiting. "Hello, how was it?"

"Bad. I survived. I also brought home some eggs too."

"Glad you're ok. I was getting worried that you wouldn't make it."

"Who survived?" my mom asked. "Samantha, Kylo and Ethan were the people who also lived."

They stayed and chatted, then Papa and Jojo left. I went downstairs to unpack my things. It was nice seeing my room again, and I laid on my bed. My comfortable bed. I can't wait to sleep on my bed again. The warm blankets around my body. I went back upstairs to see my family. I told my mom everything that had happened. All the good memories. I hadn't had lunch, so I took out bread, cheese, and butter to make myself a grilled cheese sandwich. I had two for me. We went out to the backyard to feel the sun. I already miss the other three. I wonder what they're doing.

I closed my eyes and laid in the chair, listening to the kids playing. I also hear dogs barking and other kids playing. We had hamburgers and hotdogs. Around six, we finished our dinner.

Watching a movie to finish the day off. The kids were playing downstairs and I stayed upstairs watching a movie with blankets. During the movie, I was thinking of all of the memories that happened over the course of the two weeks, and the past two years. From this day forward, we, as the survivors, will move on in the future, making new friends, graduating, and getting the dream jobs we always wanted. Once this movie was done, I headed downstairs to my room. I got dressed in my pajamas and crawled into bed. I miss my comfortable, warm bed and fell asleep quickly. All that happened in the two weeks has changed our lives. And it has changed our lives forever.

Nothing will ever be the same again.
