Never Thanked
Stinger:
"Get away from me!" I screamed throwing a pillow at him, it collided harmlessly on the ground.
"I see what's going on." He smiled.
"What?" I pulled my legs up to my chest.
"You are three feet away from a celebrity." He walked closer to me. "You don't know how to control your excited emotion. You are so ordinary, so absolutely adorable."
"It's nice to see that the regular mortals don't change." The blond one laughed.
"Don't be embarrassed." The black haired one grabbed my hand. "It's really me, Luke Zodiac."
He pushed me into his chest, giving me to breath in his nasty fragments.
"I know I'm so great." Luke held me close, petting my hair like an animal. "Between my amazing hair and crazy good looks, it's a lot to take in."
"You're face to face with a Zodiac!" Mike, I recognized him off of his brothers name, pulled me away.
"But you know..." Luke walked at me. "What else can I say to you? I mean, I am far greater then you will ever be. I have become master to all elements, the sun, the ground and sky. You can give me all thanks but I don't think that will truly pay for everything I have done for you ordinary person."
"Luke you were once ordinary." Mike commented.
"I remember those dark times." Luke shivered. "Before fourteen, before my power. I was just an ordinary Zodiac."
"I pulled up her files." I recognized Ames Zodiac as he entered into the bedroom. "She is thirteen years old. Here's the rest." He handed a silver folder to Luke, who read through my info.
"Memory wiped." Luke clicked his tongue. "That's such a pity, everything gone except a few small details, like the Zodiac family and survival skills."
"I know your name." I was frightened to speak up. "But how do I know you?"
"You're welcome." Luke smiled.
"For what?"
"I performed your surgery."
"For?"
"Your memory."
I gasped. I could only recall fragments of stuff, like important traditions that I thought I had only dreamed before. I remember that surgery, it was painful and I screamed as he removed my memory with each nerve he removed and replaced. That was the dark space buried in my mind.
"But that's not all I do." Luke threw my file aside. "I could go on and on, explaining every natural thing I did, but that would take days just to list them."
"Days." Mike echoed.
"If you focused on just the Wars I have won, you can see by this tattoo on my back-" He removed his shirt in front of me.
My eyes were scarred with that picture. I remember Soren shirtless, but this boy was different. His pale skin, bumps from his bones and muscles. He was a skinny person for having a six pack. I would imagine Mike having one and not Luke.
"-I have the names of every planet I have conquered and each battle I have ever won."
I couldn't count the small print that covered his left side. I could barely read it, the letters stretched from his shoulder to his hips. There were a lot listed.
"So anyways." Mike pushed the conversation.
"Oh yeah." Luke threw back on his shirt, covering his pale skin. "You are welcome for making this world so beautiful, no need to say thank you, I know what you did for my brother and your purpose is payed."
"But I felt the fire around me." I tried to recall the memory. "I died."
"You would of if I didn't intervene." Mike laughed. "Luke can we wrap this up, we gotta go."
"Thank you for being the bearer of our brothers child." Luke turned to leave.
"Wait!" I called, stopping them before they reached the door. "Bearer of what now?"
"You're a few days late." Luke explained. "I have my doctor degree, I know how the reproduction system works. You must have noticed this as well, the cravings you have been getting, the stress you feel in your hip bones, they are expanding."
"Do you think this child will have wings and be immortal like the father?" Mike asked.
"Not a clue." Luke smiled. "A disruption like this has never happened before. We will just have to wait and see. I don't suppose the mother will survive."
"No." I shook my head. "No, you are lying."
"Am I?" Luke raised his eyebrow. "You will be locked in here for the rest of your life, this is my bedroom by the way, above you Nathaniel's room, don't try and call to him, it's sound proof."
"Wait!" I called.
"Thank you." Luke laughed. "And you're welcome."
He slammed the door, I ran to it pulling at it to open. Nothing worked.
I couldn't be with child, not so soon. That night I spent with Nathaniel in the barn when we went off to have a bit of alone time, it was a dark night and I might of gotten a bit carried away, but there is not a possibility that I could be pregnant. My father will have me hung or stoned, Nathaniel will be killed and worst of all.... I can't even think about it. I couldn't be with child, Luke had to by lying.
Where was my love, he promised a proper wedding as soon as he got back and we finished the job.
Nathaniel kept too many secrets. What did Luke say about wings and immortality? Nothing made sense. I saw moving pictures dancing across a square box, I remember this, it's a cable box. I sat in front of it, my eyes fixed on the screen. A news report was being broadcasted, that Ames boy was talking, then someone I loved and treasured appeared on screen.
Nathaniel.
He was different. He had blond hair and his face wasn't scared and full of blood. He looked clean, pure, like a Zodiac. He is Nathaniel Zodiac. I truer to scream at him, but he couldn't hear me through the box, the picture changed.
I felt a jolt on my stomach. The creature inside was growing, faster then a normal baby. Is this how a Zodiac is born? I don't know, but nothing will ever be the same again.
